"Traces of life" mark for photos of leaf-miners

Community and ForumWebsite news and updates"Traces of life" mark for photos of leaf-miners

Recently there were quite a lot of photos, which now marked as "larva" whilst they rather present traces of life like leaf-miners tracks in leaves or some nest of whatsoever else. So what's your thoughts, do we need to put in such special mark in "Stage/gender"? Or rename the very "Stage/gender" feature, or just leave it as "larva"?

Sure, I think. Personally I'd also add such mark as "mine".

I see we'd better leave it as "larva" (development stage) and tag with it all nests, mines, cases and whatsoever else. "Pupa" is for cocoons, exuviae and so on. "Egg" is for egg-layings etc.

That's the question. Does the website need such mark? If yes, then the whole chain should be arranged as "imago-larva-pupa-egg". And the "larva" stage should include "larva" (instar if possible), "larva leaf house" (and its shape), "leaves used for larva house", "damages (in order) made by larvae of different instars". If possible, note the plant it was picked from (or better raised on). This will allow to expand knowledge of host plants. Example: two years ago I picked a larva to raise from Asarum sieboldii, so I raised that and eventually it emerged into a moth that was later successfully identified, but when I noted the plant it had been picked from and fed on, they told me that no moths of the species were seen on that plant. Naturally, I was requested to reprocess the whole thing, but in the past year I couldn't find any larva in Asarum sieboldii, maybe this year will be better. So please note the plant species too. Only there we have another question like how to make sure if the information of the plant provided by user is authentic?
