+ View from the mountainous Crimea, which I could not identify (gray color, body shape will resemble Mantis, but slightly smaller in size).

Can I see a photo?

17.03.2008 2:01, Мих

According to my calculations, there are at least 8 species of praying mantis in Ukraine.

According to local residents, Mantis also penetrated to the south of the Tyumen region... I came from Kazakhstansmile.gif

In the Crimea, the number of wood-cut trees has recently increased, while the number of common trees has decreased. I've seen the reasons myself. The arboreal ones are much stronger and often win in battle . How to distinguish Hierodula transcaucasica from Hierodula tenuidentata by its appearance? They're the same! Or am I wrong about something? By the way, they definitely exist in Odessa. They sent me teka from there.

In Crimea, Mantis religiosa is not getting any smaller. Where does this data come from?
In your opinion, the mantises are at war with each other, and now the treemen have begun to defeat the Mantis? lol.gif

26.04.2008 23:19, Мих

A little slip of the tongue. not in the whole Crimea. I observed it specifically in Gaspra, in the sanatorium of Rosa Luxemburg. .
Here are my monthly data on mantis catches:
2004 3 6
2005 7 9
2006 15 8
2007 year >45 <5

I won't say anything about wars, but I've seen tree mantises devour common people several times. and each other.

27.04.2008 0:31, okoem

2006 15 8 is 15 wood and 8 bark, so what? In the area of Feodosia, a dozen pieces of corn can probably be found in a day if you set a goal.
And in Gaspra-perhaps the fact is that there are few suitable areas for hiking?
What is devoured is yes. I saw an adult queen nymph eating an iris imago.

01.05.2008 19:15, Мих

And what are its most suitable areas?
A dozen grand? And where to find them? Higher in the trees or lower in the grass?

03.05.2008 12:36, okoem

Suitable areas are steppe, settled mountain slopes, and hills. Search accordingly in the grass. In the same place-empusa, iris, ameles.

I know that Mantis religiosa is found in the Voronezh and even Lipetsk regions, but I don't know any specific points. Please tell me the points and whether it will be possible to find it in late June or early July.

The other day I caught a praying mantis in the Zadonsky district of the Lipetsk region.

I have an urgent question here... I caught a praying mantis in Gelendzhik in the summer...more precisely, the larva, there were no wings yet, in length-cm~2. Fed nauba, constantly threw flies and mosquitoes into the bull, one molt passed, the rudiments of elytra began to appear, something similar to muscles appeared on the folds of the front legs.....I wake up one fine morning, look into the jar, and the praying mantis lies there and doesn't move - it's dead :'( The night before, I sprayed it with water on its cheek... could he have died because of it?

16.11.2008 22:14, сизиф

MANTIS RELIGIOSA in the CRIMEA did not disappear at all,but its usual green form is replaced by another, yellowish, as well as its relative AMELEA Decolor,
Only the species itself is more common in one summer, in another-less often.
I myself go to the area of the South. mountain Crimea (coast)Pike perch every summer.

Is it really difficult to look at the previous page of the topic?

17.11.2008 18:36, Мих

Hierodula transcaucasica . Note that I said not in the CRIMEA, but only in GASPRA. There he was really transferred - replaced by a tree one. And then not in the whole of Gaspra, but in the lower part of it, adjacent to Koreiz, and Lower Mishor on one side and ending with a Swallow's nest on the other. Above the Gaspra, as we approach Mount Ai-Petri, there is a meadow (field), very interesting in that on it , in different parts, such praying mantises as:
Empusa,
Ameles
Irises,
Wood - Hierodula transcaucasica - cohabit in very small numbers.
and mantis including(2 mantis for 10 ameles.
In the Lower part of Gaspra, there are no Irises, Ameles, or empusa (except for a single case on the shore near the Swallow's nest). But everything is filled with woody ones, the number of which is steadily increasing. Already this year, it was impossible to walk along the embankment along Mishor Park without encountering a single treehouse or its ooteka. And the Mantiss and their techs aren't there. But in Yalta, for example, there is.

I don't know what it's like in Yalta, but actually the embankment is not a place for tourists. She needs the steppe. But not the tree one. He sits on fences and bushes on city streets, and on the embankment. And if you go out into the steppe (for example, in the vicinity of Feodosia), you can find all types of Crimean praying mantises, including Bolivaria, but not the tree mantis.

Thank you for the helpful information! jump.gif

17.11.2008 23:52, Мих

in Yalta, on the quays of kustikhakh, I personally found 3 tequilas.

18.11.2008 10:42, сизиф

I found in the Crimea,in Sudak,on a mountain,in rare grass 10 bolivarias, two of them-females-ate each other.

18.11.2008 10:51, okoem

Bolivaria is quite a common sight if you know where to look smile.gif

18.11.2008 10:53, сизиф

Can anyone confirm my assumption that two forms of the short-winged Bolivaria live in the Crimea-one is light beige in color, and the other is light gray with black spots?Write!

18.11.2008 19:10, Мих

perhaps these are transitional forms. then there is nothing surprising.

In my photo there are two females of Ameles Taigika .. Is not it so?

No, it's the Bolivars, of course.

26.11.2008 18:03, Мих

How long are they? 3-4 or 4-5 cm? bolivarias with a length of 4x cm, ameles from 3x.. bolivari and have more developed elytra and more variegated coloration.

27.11.2008 18:18, Stas Shinkarenko

This is, of course, Bolivaria (like both females). The length is clearly more than 4 cm. Moreover, officially we have only 4 species of praying mantis in our region: Mantis religiosa, Bolivaria brachyptera, Empusa pennicornis and Iris polystictica. Maybe immediately after molting, the color of mantises is lighter than after hardening of the integuments...

27.11.2008 19:27, Мих

I just immediately thought about Crimea. meles are very similar, but much smaller. Do male Bolivarians have wings?

29.11.2008 22:23, сизиф

NO, OF COURSE NOT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! lol.gif lol.gif lol.gif
