Oxybelus is about 7 mm. The mandibles are black. The top of the forehead is in raised hairs, the bottom of the forehead in rather thick pressed ones. The light pattern is white and yellow. On 1-2 abdominal tergites, there are two underdeveloped spots. The lateral scales of the posterior meschytium are not bifurcated, simple. The thighs of all the legs are black. I believe this is O. uniglumis male

5 mm. The mandibles at the apex are bicuspid. Dark brown, dark red towards the top. Platypus at the top with slightly outlined three bumps, without denticles on the sides. The forehead is very thick and finely dotted. Hairs on the crown of the head och. Short. Pronotum with yellow spots. Midspine is also densely punctured, on the base with short longitudinal ribs. The shield is also punted. The median field of the propodeum is shiny, bounded by a clear deep groove behind, with oblique wrinkles on the sides. Lower legs with yellow spots. The pygidial field is shiny in large rounded dots. Very similar to Crossocerus uchidai.
It differs from emarginatus in a more developed yellow pattern. From elongatulus by the color of the mandibles.

I have not seen any data that Lasius brunneus can be found in the Moscow region. Usually -the south (forest-steppe) of the European part of Russia, Crimea, Krasnodar Krai, the Caucasus with pockets along the Volga to Kazan.

I don't know. I didn't see any of them. But I think that the children of this beast will be yellow. This is hinted at by yellowish legs and the bottom of the abdomen. At least in the photo, it seems so. Probably someone from Chthonolasius, but some of the ones I didn't come across.

With such a big belly and a chest wider than your head? Not possible. I just came across exactly the same (as far as you can compare from a mediocre photo) uterus Lasius brunneus. They live in rotten trees, winged workers sometimes drag up or down the trunk, then you can admire them in all their glory. But I've never been on a plane before.

Is it possible to identify these sphexes from this photo?
And what were they doing in such a crowd on the flower?
21.06.2016
Volgograd region, Nizhne-Chirskaya St.
20: 30 dusk was approaching, but it didn't look like they were going to "sleep".
As I understand it, the larger ones with red legs are females, the smaller ones with black legs are males.

Apparently, Sphex funerarius Gussakovskij, 1934.
Unfortunately, due to the very low resolution of the image, the venation of the wings and the borders of the abdominal segments are not visible. But the lower right one is definitely a male.
And they were all really going to sleep.

I met on a large old pine tree near a sand quarry.

Heh, I was too quick with the first picture. frown.gif
Both have Pemphredon [Crabronidae, Pemphredoninae].
But there is still not enough data before the view. There, the shape of the platypus, the sculpture of the top of the propodeum and the pygidial field are important. rolleyes.gif

Yes, it is similar to C. uchidai. Take a closer look at the transverse furrow at the base of the dorsal field of the propodeum (i.e., between the posterior mesentery and the propodeum). It should have a clear back edge. If the posterior edge of this furrow is flat and not clearly defined, then it may also be C. emarginatus (the color of its pronotum may well vary).
Unfortunately, this is not visible in the images.
