However, I would doubtfully suggest that Dichrorampha aeratana (Pierce & Metcalfe, 1915).

Perhaps Acronicta psi, they are not so simple, it is better to determine by the genitals than by the wings.

it seems to me that the blades of the cowlis are very different in these two species in the pictures, although their description in the same" green " confused me more. In addition to common grasshopper (Leucanthemum vulgare) as a food object, there is no data on yarrow, today it is known whether the species feeds on this plant or not?

The lower one is most likely Xanthorhoe abraxina. I caught them by the sea in Busse Bay. Nothing like that comes to mind anymore.

Good afternoon.

Today I saw a completely unfamiliar creature, and I was interested in who it was. I've been living and working in these places for 30 years, but this is the first time I've seen something like this. The quality of the photo is not very good, I'm not an expert, and I've never taken a close shot. But I still hope for your help.

Meeting point: Russian Federation, Kemerovo region, Shatai River (tributary of the Usa River), upper course, approximately 1000 m above sea level, directly next to the river, on valezhina, then this moth (?) flew to the ground. During the movement, he constantly vibrated with his wings, moved, rarely stopping for a few minutes.

The body is large, 3-4 cm in length, wingspan (as in the photo) 7-9cm
Unusual muzzle, snout, resembles that of a shrew.

Vegetation - mountain taiga complex-fir, spruce, cedar, birch, occasionally aspen.

Thank you for your attention.

There is no Scopula ornata in the photo.
1. Scopula decorata
2. Scopula orientalis
Differences between 1 and 2 were shown by I. Kostyuk. Scopula orientalis has round gray spots along the edge of the wings with a cut-out lobule, and in Scopula decorata they are almost all whole smile.gif

Scopula ornata is usually lighter than the previous two species, and there are two pairs of brown spots on the lower wing among the gray round spots, as well as on the upper ones.
