It closely resembles the taxon C. jantinus Ganglbauer, 1887, but the subspecies status is unclear ; this form is found in the Avadhary and Pskhu regions of Abkhazia . This is neither a nominative nor a subspecies of rugatus Breuning, 1934, nor a subspecies of dvorschaki Mandl, 1975.

It's a pity there is no label, or maybe something else, but it runs in Georgia or Turkey.

Friends, help me figure mol.gifout the disadvantages .

1) Abkhazia, Gudauta district, 8.1 km from the lake. Ritsa, 1.8 km SSV Kutykukh, fir-beech forest, left bank of the Avadhara River (many thanks to A. S. Vlasenko for the materialbeer.gif). Archiplectes prometheus? If so, what subspecies?

2) Amur region, Kundur (more precisely, the place on the label is not indicated; again, I am grateful to A. S. Vlasenko for the material). If it shuffle.gifis Morphocarabus confused.gifhummeli, then what is the subspecies again?

#3-Carabus (Morphocarabus) wulffiusi, I think

Thanks! I had this option, but something confused me: the size is 17-18 mm, the color is almost black, without gloss (the lighting in the photo did not "fall" correctly redface.gif).

Friends, help me figure mol.gifout the disadvantages .

Something like this:
1. Carabus (Archiplectes) juenthneri ssp. avadcharensis Kurnakov, 1970;
2. Carabus (Morphocarabus) hummeli ssp. smaragdulus Kraatz, 1878;
3. Carabus (Morphocarabus) venustus ssp. venustus Morawitz, 1862.

3. Carabus (Morphocarabus) venustus ssp. venustus Morawitz, 1862.

Thanks! In how! Options confused.gif! I would like to clarify:
1)The Zino site lists A. juenthneri avadcharensis Kurnakov, 1972. Is that right?
2) is the absence of a border on the pronotum and elytra of smaragdulus normal?
3) what are the main differences between venustus and wulffiusi?

Classic ones look like this:

The classic ones look like this:

M-yes... Of course, it looks more like venustus. But I am somewhat confused by the monochrome, black, almost matte color of my beetles (in kind, not in the picture). The DV identifier for venustus indicates "shiny", size 18-23 mm, color intensely bronze, less often black; and for wulffiusi - "matte", 20-25 mm, black, sometimes with a slight bronze tint. My beetles are 18 mm, matte, black...

1. Carabus (Archiplectes) juenthneri ssp. avadcharensis Kurnakov, 1970-listed by Brzezina.
2. The color and intensity of the elytra border is a variable feature.
3. Visually - the structure of the elytra spaces. At sp. venustus - all gaps (primary, secondary and tertiary) are clearly distinguishable, large primary pores entering adjacent gaps. In sp. wulffiusi - only the primary and secondary spaces are distinguishable. I.e., the species are very clearly distinguishable externally. Because of the shiny and opaque surface of the elytra, this is a variable sign. The determinant indicates "brilliant" as the main one for the overwhelming mass. Most likely, your copies are melanists.

I'm sorry, because I'm not good at beetles. But I have very similar carabuses from the same places. Mikhail Shestopalov, while in Krasnoyarsk, identified the right-hand one as C.(Semnocarabus) transiliensis, and the left-hand one as C.(Semnocarabus) erosus. The truth was determined by memory.
To AGG: You appear to be from the same subgenus, too: the former is similar to C. (S.)carbonicolor, and the latter is similar to C. (S.) transiliensis, although it may also be Cratocechenus jakobsoni.

Hello dear experts! Please tell me if I identified the ground beetle correctly. Prshu strongly do not scold if I made a mistake, because I am still only at the very beginning of acquiring knowledge and have almost no experience.

Carabus (Tachypus) cancellatus cancellatus Illiger, 1798.
Caught in the Leningrad region, Gatchina district trapped on kvass. 28.06.2011. Length 23mm.
