This fly is called Volucella zonaria (Poda, 1761). Family Syrphidae.
There is no literature at hand now, but for some reason it seemed to me that its larvae develop in rotten wood.

In the nests of public eardrums - wasps, bumblebees. It is also possible in wood, if the nest is located there smile.gif

Please tell me the names:
1) KMV, Beshtau station, early April.
2) KMV, Pyaigorsk, on the flower of romaki-popovnik

The first photo is some kind of tahina. Very pretty. I wouldn't mind one for a pin....
You can try to identify it from the photo.
If there were photos - top view, front view of the face, top view of the head. When determining tachinae, you need to look at the number, location and shape of different bristles. I'm just learning to determine the tachin - I've determined half of the collected material, but I can't determine half of it.

Maybe Tachina ursina...

Maybe Tachina ursina...

Maybe I'm being overly cautious, but I can't help it. Perhaps the fact is that I am an amateur who does not have a special biological education, but I am afraid of identifying insects from such a complex family based on external similarity. Although many professionals easily identify what I think are difficult groups based on photos.
I would prefer to take the tachina, the determinant, and rotate it at a good magnification.

Quite possibly. It's just my complexes.

- I don't like this "Tachina ursina"... - I reviewed it on the Internet.. - there are certainly slightly different angles, but something confuses me... All the Urzins there are more like each other than she is like them. "Is there another species like it?"
"Although maybe I just have a' form or subspecies of another... '
With respect, Andreas. (The program doesn't see me today)

You need a photo. Required top view. And close up the head in different angles. I'll have fun counting the bristles.

Please help me identify three flies from the vicinity of Khabarovsk. At least until the end, it is very necessary... The wingspan of the black fly is 32 mm, the body length of the ktyr is 25 mm, and the body length of the babbler is 25 mm.

I'm afraid I'll look like a fool, but the first (black) fly isn't Anthrax anthrax by any chance ?

And the second fly isn't Anthrax anthrax, either ?
I can't really get serious about this family, and I only have collections from the European part of the former USSR, so I might be wrong.

Can you tell me what types? Moscow. 1.9.8

The first fly is a species from the genus Lucilia. Before the view-the photo is too small.
The second fly is a member of the genus Eristalis, sirphids. The view will say exactly Pirx.

In this case, it is most likely Spilomyia xanthosticta Stackelberg or S. maxima Sack. You can distinguish it by the barrels of the chest, but they are not visible in the photo. Far Eastern species, although the latter was once surprisingly found in the Leningrad region, seem to be a classic case...

8 views of the yard. But the other types are somehow quite different.

Nope, not Laphria. Probably Machimus of some sort. Or some similar genus.

Primorye region

It resembles either a representative of Sciomyzidae, or a representative of some close families. In these families, one of the main characteristics is the presence, shape, color, and distribution of bristles in various parts of the body.
I'd like to spin a fly. There is a determinant of DV, flies are generally definable.
I wonder what size it is. 5-6 Mm?

15.09.2008 13:50, IchMan

To Juglans

This fly, as my colleague, an expert on diptera, says, is most likely from the genera Eurina-Platycephala or something close (family Chloropidae)
