We're walking right next to each other. :-) I also got a couple of hymnosis (in my opinion different), both from Kharkiv (end of July):
1. Gymnosoma (?)rotundatum

2. Gymnosoma (?)nudifrons

Help me unlock...
7620 - 05.06.2007. Kharkov. A black fly, slightly larger than a housefly. Similar to Tachina grossa, but I'm confused by the black "face".

There is a suspicion of (?) Zophomyia temula, I found some photos of it, here for example:
http://popgen.unimaas.nl/~jlindsey/commans...yia.temula.html
what do the experts think?

And if it's not a secret, what do you shoot Boris with? I got a photo of my gymnozoma with a lot of blood, and the quality frown.gifwants the best, although the camera is not bad Sony R1, but the distance to the object is less than 13 cm.

One more fly I would like to confirm...
(?) Phasia hemiptera (at an early age)

And here here:

This is her (already an adult)?

Canon PowerShot A640 and a few gadgets. A key role was played by the flash diffuser (made in early July).
Here I told you in detail:

Six days in Bologna, and there don't seem to be many mosquitoes and flies here (I haven't seen any cockroaches or mice yet, there are no cats on the streets, only golobi and blackbirds from birds smile.gif) However, the picture is spoiled by strange mosquitoes - which also have the audacity to bite me! The "ordinary" ones didn't do that to me, so I swatted one, and I see that he's innocent in his own rightweep.gif, although there may be biting ones among his children.
picture: IMG_0325.JPG
It seems to be beautiful wink.gifand the legs are striped, and some purple ...
What kind of creature could it be?

Here is this curious insect, I do not even know what class, kind can be attributed
to it Can it crave to attack me and bite....
But the fact is, I allowed myself to get very close....
Who knows what it is write!!! shuffle.gif

It's a fly. Asilidae-Ktyri - very fast and predatory flies-feed on other insects, even exceeding their size.

07.08.2007 22:46, Chromocenter

What? How? Really? eek.gif And they carry malaria? And no one has ever told me anything about it before... no mosquitoes in sight today. their bites also passed.

07.08.2007 22:52, RippeR

very cute ktyr you got. I wonder what is approximately in length, without exaggerating? smile.gif

Again, I took a picture of something that was not clear.

Latvia, Riga region.

at a small pond, the size of about a centimeter, it flies quietly, slowly, can and likes to "hang out" without being shy.

In the same place, bigger than No. 1, it flies faster, there are still photos, but worse, the child's veins are nowhere to be seen. frown.gif

About a month ago, on the Curonian Spit from the Baltic Sea, I found a piece of amber, where a certain insect sits, similar to a microcomarus growing somewhere about 2-3x millimeters.

I would like to know what these insects should be called in Latin.

It would also be nice to get advice on how this yantarik can be combined with a magnifying glass; in order to get a sort of instructive and informative souvenir. I.e. maybe there are some standard tools and techniques for creating them? smile.gif

12.08.2007 0:13, Михаил Н

picture: jant010.JPGBy the way, this is what my old scanner was able to do. The eye sees amber much better, and its color is more transparent smile.gif

These are the dimensions smile.gif

12.08.2007 0:50, Proctos

unfortunately, the magnification is too small and the image is not clear. all that is visible is an insect from the orders Hymenoptera (Hymenoptera) or Diptera (Diptera)

12.08.2007 14:49, Chromocenter

Here, I create a theme again, because the old one has disappeared in an incomprehensible way for me, in general, it has not progressed anywhere. Only now, because I finally took a better picture. This time it was a female, and it served her rightsmile.gif :
the image is no longer on the site: IMG_0325.JPG
Brushko as well as the legs of the hollow - white-purple as if. Strange creatures in a word.

So it seems like ordinary daytime mosquitoes, I forgot the name, there are not many of them like kuleks and others, but they are even in tepi and bite very much during the day!

12.08.2007 17:22, Chromocenter

Yes, exactly! I forgot to write that they mostly bite me during the day! And the bites remain! It's just that there were no such things in Israel or Baku, and I didn't have any bite marks either, so I was surprised when I saw them.
Thanks!

12.08.2007 18:08, sealor

So what is it called, or at least someone will tell you the name of the group, otherwise I just found something similar-

Weevil, essno. (am I really the first?!)

12.08.2007 20:06, Proctos

It looks like this is still a regular pipiens kulex

12.08.2007 21:36, sealor

This is not a fact! Aedes mosquitoes, or perhaps it is just one of them, also have striped legs, but they(or some of them) are larger than culex, attack during the day and are more variegated.

If there are two wings (and not four), then most likely some kind of gallica.
Take it to your ZIN (or PIN) and they'll tell you more accurately.

In fact, the previous topic has moved to where it should be - the Definition of diptera.
This one will suffer the same fate, but a little later.

Proctos-the usual culex pipiens seems to be so gray, but this one is very bright, especially clearly visible when it flies - that the color is not at all the same, and they appear exclusively during the day, as soon as it turns to stone, they disappear.
Bolivar-yes, even now, I just searched for keywords in the name before doing this, and I failed...

14.08.2007 6:43, bezzhonova

It is not correct to identify mosquitoes from the photo, especially mosquitoes. I've been doing this for 5 years, so if you need help, please contact me. bezzhonova@mail.ru

It looks like it's just a regular culex pipiens after all

smile.gif This is not Cx. pipiens

14.08.2007 20:09, Chromocenter

And who is it anyway. Here sealor writes that "daytime mosquitoes", but I have never heard of such mosquitoes, I thought all mosquitoes are nocturnal or twilight at least. rolleyes.gif And will their remedies against common mosquitoes help you? And then the bites are very itchy, I do not remember that I had so much.
On the Aedes mentioned sealor is really very similar. Everything would be fine if not for the fact that they write about them, that either tropical, or, specify, in Central and South America (north), and Italy is neither one nor the other.

14.08.2007 22:13, Михаил Н

Thanks beer.gif

Here with the wings some strain shuffle.gifAll I can see with the eye is a small translucent "skirt" - a sort of short wing(s) covering the back of the insect. Apparently, the wings are pressed to the body and seem to be connected. But where they start is hard to say, very small... no matter how visibly it seems that they are short, as if from the "belt"...

And I don't even know where the PIN or ZIN is located...

Here, in my opinion, is a somewhat clearer picture of a poor insect that is at least 40 million years old:
picture: jant014b.jpg

It's probably still hard to say anything definite?

Autan active spray and cream will help. First on clothes, 2-on the skin! Ok!?

There are plenty of mosquitoes in the woods during the day. And in the swamps...

15.08.2007 22:47, Chromocenter

Bolivar-I've never been to a swamp in my life, and I've only seen Mediterranean forests - dry and I don't remember, I saw some mosquitoes in them...

16.08.2007 8:45, Tigran Oganesov

Then I see. In the middle zone of this good in bulk at any time of the day. And in the north...

Transparent plastic boxes with a built-in magnifying glass (especially for amber) are freely available in Germany, England, and Austria. It's easy to find on the Internet.

Both sirphid flies
1-Syrphus balteatus
2-most likely from the genus Xylota
I warn you that I give names according to the green determinant - to get into the nuances of modern trends in the taxonomy of sirphids is frankly a break wink.gif

Something with mosquitoes went to the problem. Names like "daytime" mosquitoes and "night" were already used, although there was no inquisition...
As I understand it, these mosquitoes belong to the family Culicidae. Well, before the view here Bezhonova said well: kulicid on the photo-sorry...
