Whose larva is this? Novosibirsk, yesterday morning I crawled across a path in the forest.
Quite large, 3-4 centimeters.

Thank you in advance. I apologize for the quality-a smartphone in cloudy weather.

PS. Hooray, I found a similar image:

Good day to the forum participants!
I was sorting through old photos and found something strange.

25-27. 07. 2020, Bashkortostan, Burzyansky district, Irgizly village (coordinates 52.959396625720565, 57.03631181196199), anthills on the edge of the forest on the northern slope of the ridge.

I apologize for the quality. Taken on your phone, cropped to the maximum.

Larva in a" shell " of a dry leaf. It moves on the forest floor. Larvae concentrate on the anthill in large quantities (photo 6, either the larvae are myrmecophilic, or their houses are an excellent building material for ants in size, I often saw how ants drag them).
Movement on the substrate:
1. Sticking out the body halfway;
2. Throwing the body over itself (or sideways);
3. Disappearing inside the shell;
4. Waiting for about a dozen seconds;
5. go to point 1.

The three penultimate photos show footage from the video with the movement of this creature. There, in addition, you can see a parasitic fly (or wasp?) waiting in the distance, in the last photo it is already sitting on the shell with a testicle ready.

I will be very grateful if you can help me figure it out. And if you don't help me, then you know that you have condemned me to death. Out of curiosity: D

most likely it is the long whiskered moth Nemophora degeerella

Thank you very much! Exactly, it looks like it.
Are there any distinguishing features that allow us to say that this is N. degeerella? In the catalog of animals of Bashkortostan for 2015 there are 5 Nemophora species. This is probably not the limit.
Maybe someone here knows if there is a determinant or at least some website with a set of photos of the larvae of these moths? That the Russian-or English-language search results in catastrophically few photos of larvae.

Someone ate one from the inside out. The second one soon died and also turned brown.

In one of the cells of the same nest, an exuvium of a pupa in a cocoon was found, not the fact that the same butterfly, but the length is suitable - about a centimeter:

The caterpillar is similar to Emmelina monodactila. But there are no such pupae in fingerflies.

Dear guest, who are you? I am interested to indicate in the acknowledgements.

In addition, the caterpillar hatched such a cute rider, defined by me as Aleiodes bicolor (Spinola, 1808):

The next question concerns the pupa (or pre-pupa?) ladybugs:

The same nest was occupied by an adult Hippodamia variegata. Could it be her child or someone else's? Ceratomegilla undecimnotata, Harmonia axyridis, and Coccinella septempunctata have also been recorded from large cows in the vicinity.

07.08.2023 20:31, Muholovka

Hello, please help me determine the type of moth caterpillar, it fell from a walnut tree in the heat and almost did not move, only in the evening it came to its senses. She does not eat the leaf of the same tree left to her. It is about 4.5 cm long, approximately 6 mm thick, the body consists of 11 segments,
the caterpillar is dirty crimson in color, the head is also dark, and a pulsating dark stripe stretches along the entire back. It moves like any decent moth, has a tiny light eye on the sides of the body on each segment. Discovered in Simferopol, Crimea on August 7. Good luck identifying it wink.gif
