Yellowtail Euroctis (Porthesia) similis. The volnyanka family.

1-A red egg was discovered on the back of a willow tree on the riverbank.

2-the caterpillars pupated 2 days ago (how much longer will they be in this state?). I found them on an apple tree. They entwined the leaves with cobwebs and spoiled the tree in large numbers. The same goes for the drain. Size-slightly less than 1 cm. Small, dark, not shaggy. 1 the pupa moved very much today, I was very surprised-I thought it would be born now. Help determine the species and who will emerge from the chrysalis.

I went to the forest the other day and saw such interesting worms.Maybe someone knows what kind of view it is ?
They gather and climb the ground together in a crowd."

They look like the larvae of some flies.

13.06.2012 23:58, Triplaxxx

I think it's the larvae of some Bibionidae. I did not see such processions, but they tend to form large clusters, I found such a number under the log that you could easily pick up a full handful with both hands.

Trichiura crataegi

Cratags (which are cocoonworms, not hawthorns) never make spider nests. Typical lanestris.

I went on a camping trip. Since this is a terribly contagious activity-I climbed into the bushes to photograph caterpillars...
Bashkiria, near the lake. Aslykul.

Bear kaya apparently. Mother-and-stepmother was eating a wilted leaf. They mostly crawl on the ground.

Unpaired silkworm. As always, a lot.

On a pine tree. In large groups.
The middle image is probably eggs.
Lower. In the foreground, the cocoons are white. On another branch, the same cocoons, but already brown.
I also wonder what kind of black skins are on the cocoons...

Well, the main question is: who is it? When it gets scared, orange horns appear and something unpleasant smells.

Our pupa has not been jumping for 2 weeks, and it is not visible that it is moving inside. Is she dead?" Or will it hatch again? How long do you have to wait to understand exactly?

if she does not move, it does not mean that she died, I have more than one pupa does not move, but all are displayed. what was the caterpillar, if you at least describe the caterpillar, then I can tell you how much time it should spend in the pupa wink.gif.

We didn't see the caterpillar, we found it already in the pupa, there is a photo on page 62. Just in the first few days, she jumped to a height of about 2.5-3 cm and rolled on the bank, and then stopped.
