I use pins that are offered on www.entomolog.com. Normal such black pins, do not rust, do not turn green. They promised that light pins with a yellow polymer head, like Morfovsky or Austerlitz pins, will soon be on sale, which is cheaper by itself. Plus, of course, there is no limit on the minimum order amount.

Today I got pins with www.entomolog.com. I confirm: the quality is very decent, everything is on the level.

Sell entomological pins, Czech "MORPHO", numbers 1, 2, 3
In the presence of several thousand of each number, the price is 150 rubles per pack (100 pcs)
I'll meet you in Moscow or send you an email. Victor proctos@rambler.ru

Does anyone sell pins # 7? I actually only need 2 pcs. now, but I would take a couple of packs, otherwise, damn it, there are no thick lamellar sawyers to pin on.

30.05.2006 6:29, Vadim Yakubovich

also bought pins on www.entomolog.com, very similar to "morpho", the quality is really good. With shipment and cash on delivery, it came out at 80 rubles per 100 pcs.

30.05.2006 11:35, Nilson

I want to add it. I also have budavki c entomolog.com. The quality is not bad, but still you can't compare it with Morpho. The tip of the pin is more blunt, and the pins themselves bend relatively easily. After such bends, the fingers are covered with a black coating, i.e. the coating comes off. For valuable copies, I do not particularly recommend them, but for banals and dies - the material is decent!

30.05.2006 14:31, Vadim Yakubovich

I took a closer look, I agree with Nilson, but I have such a story with No. 3, for some reason the units are harder than triples, and the paint does not peel off.

Are they made of different wires and blackened differently (chemically, thermally)?

Are they made of different wires and blackened differently (chemically, thermally)?

In order for the wire to be rigid, it is gartuet, for example, when broaching through rollers to make a certain diameter of pins. But when heated, on the contrary, the wire becomes soft. Apparently, the master heated them to blacken the pins, so they softened.
It is also clear why the layer of black flies off if the technology of black is similar to the blackening of jewelry (silver).

31.05.2006 10:56, Nilson

Well, here you can talk for quite a long time on the topic of chemical and thermal treatment. Good pins should be hardened and released (if necessary). I don't know the exact technology, but entomolog.com Apparently, it does not temper its pins, but uses something like blackening for protection, i.e. the pins are etched in acid, and the Morpho is varnished. I generally think to order stainless steel.

Please tell me what numbers of entomological pins or what diameter of pins you need to take for pricking ground beetles, pterostiches, nutcrackers and similar coleoptera. where you can get decent definitions for coleoptera, I can buy used ones.

Pins are selected depending on the size of the insect, usually from three to zero, small ones are pasted. And with more complex determinants, look in the main branch "scans of books with entomological topics"

Of course, I may be wrong - try not to prick beetles. After communicating with people close to ZIN, I myself moved only to sticking on triangles under the right side (about 5 mm long for medium beetles), although I used to prick without a second thought. Advantages:
1. the beetle is not damaged, i.e. it can then be easily peeled off, changed, and so on.
2. the beetle is easier to scan and shoot, it looks neater in photos, and the collection looks prettier - I think so.
3. there is no possibility to incorrectly pierce the bug with a pin.
4. the requirements for pins are very gentle: I have Nizhny Novgorod troika for most go perfectly.
Disadvantages:
1. spreading requires more time and pins (up to 40 per beetle).
2. there is a danger that the beetle will fly off the triangle...

As for sticking on the whole dies-I'm against it. It turns out. of course, it's beautiful, but the whole ventral part is hidden.

I myself just recently got pins with entomolog.com, and was quite satisfied. Apparently, the person making them changed the technology - even after intense and repeated flexion-extension (I decided to give them a small test), none of the three pins tested in this way gave me even a grain of black plaquesmile.gif, I checked both 1, 3 and 00. The stiffness also seemed quite acceptable to me. The only negative that I noticed is the lack of sharpness of some (not all) treshek.

05.09.2006 14:54, Nilson

To Necrocephalus:
I myself am waiting for a new order from Nizhny Novgorod - let's see what has changed.

11.09.2006 9:34, Nilson

The pins arrived the other day. The troika is much tougher, and the units used to be quite good. However, in this batch, the heads of pins are slightly larger than the standard ones. Sharpness is lame.

There are pins made by Monarch (Czech Republic) 0,1,3 numbers.
Write to anyone who is interested.

You would have announced the price list...

09.04.2007 18:02, RippeR

Yes, yes! The main thing is prices.

Chitota prices are high now! =)))
Last time I took$2.5!
What do you think about this, Mr. Morozzz...?

09.04.2007 22:11, omar

And I think that for Czech quality you can pay an additional 80 euro cents.... cool.gif

09.04.2007 22:17, americanecz

I really took Morpho...
I don't know if they're Czech or not.

I think this is not the highest price. The retail price will always depend on the purchase price. If I had bought pins about a year and a half ago, they would have cost $ 2.5. At the company itself, prices have increased, I can give you a price tag at a meeting.

10.04.2007 6:00, Pavel Morozov

I don't know if they're Czech or not.

Monarch also has Czech pins. Morpho went bust a few years ago, and these guys seem to have formed in their place.

10.04.2007 15:32, stierlyz

Does it make sense to open a new topic when there is already one on the pins and it has been "hanging" since September?

10.04.2007 16:44, Swansson

Is delivery to Ukraine possible? What are the payment methods?

10.04.2007 22:42, okoem

Is delivery to Ukraine possible?

To Ukraine? Hmm ... already delivered!:- ) Contact I. G. Ivy - $ 2.5 pack, Czech, black. I last bought in December, but I don't think the price has increased.

11.04.2007 17:23, stierlyz

Yes, the price has not increased. But Ivy will not send by mail - please contact him personally.

11.04.2007 20:06, RippeR

and where exactly does it live? I'd take it from him for that price, but I won't go far. Maybe someone will pass by it, with whom then, for example, in Odessa you can pay?

12.04.2007 10:26, Swansson

And how to get in touch with Ivy? No one answers my email frown.gif

12.04.2007 18:57, stierlyz

Ripper, I already GOT you a few packs, but you don't show up and pay.

You don't have to go to Kiev. Contact your friends, acquaintances, or relatives who live there or are planning to go there.

At the expense of coordinates-write to me by e-mail: okoem@km.ru

Oh, I'd like to buy a thousand pins, but I don't want to send money anywhere. If only here in St. Petersburg....

Oh, I'd like to buy a thousand pins, but I don't want to send money anywhere. I wish I was here in St. Petersburg....

What is the problem? Go to Kupriyanov at St. Petersburg State University - someone carries you there sometimes, order in Nizhny Novgorod-payment upon receipt. If you really need a few pieces-I can tear them from your heart wink.gif

Who knows where in Moscow you can buy entomological pins?

01.06.2007 16:02, lepidopterolog

Look at the Bird Market, there is a person who sells insects in frames on weekends, he has (in any case, not so long ago there were) morf pins for 150 rubles/pack.
