I catch from a glassed-in balcony (as I wrote above), so for some reason everyone sits on the screen, except for butterflies. They, if they fly inside the balcony, then shy away all over the space, until you drive them into the stain.

There is such a problem.
Many interesting species land in the distance. Many scoops generally tend to fall down in front of the lamp. They hide in the grass, and you can't get them out.
But even the most restless scoops still calm down in the middle of the night and sit down closer to the light.

19.06.2006 7:51, RippeR

Under the lamp it is necessary to lay a blanket, and in any case, some grandmothers sit far away, especially large interesting species, hawkmoth are different.. small moths land on the screen, and large ones in the grass, cocoonworms, large scoops too.
Interestingly, the lamp shines strongly, maybe try to hang another 1 screen for 5 meters ??

Then put it in a circle smile.gif

19.06.2006 19:53, RippeR

What do you mean?

19.06.2006 20:30, Bad Den

This weekend, I tried out a way not to get burned, being close to a UV lamp - to put on a sunscreen with the highest degree of protection (although I have a suspicion that every manufacturer measures this degree of protection in their "parrots"). From what was in the store, the maximum (judging by the label) had "Garnier Ambre Solaire "(spf 40). Smeared from the heart, not sparing the cream, as a result-no burns smile.gif

To put the screen in a circle, you need space. Ideally, this is done somewhere in the forest or in a field with a generator. Everything is very simple - the sheet is installed in a certain ring or cylinder, and inside - a light source.
By the way, Spargania luctuata flew in this weekend.

Friends, I want to consult you. I wanted to buy it Here here is this Battery-operated country lamp Garin DC302, DC302b. Reluctance, just messing around with breaking different lamps. Look, please, for night fishing such a lantern is suitable?

20.06.2006 16:08, RippeR

There aren't any lamps here, except for the kitchens, are you right?

Else:
I decided not to prick the lamp, a friend dissuaded me, there are too many problems and dangers - cataracts, eye diseases, skin peelingerysipelas.. for a solarium, maybe raskalivnie would be suitable, but not for fishing, and the antennae are burned (not for me, but for butterflies smile.gif)
I have already made a lantern of 5 LEDs-it runs on batteries, the glow is quite good, I want to try it out soon

20.06.2006 16:14, Solarway

Ugh, you! I put it in wrong, I made a mistake. wall.gif Correcting myself, Here smile.gif

20.06.2006 16:58, Pavel Morozov

to Solarway:
This is an unfortunate option for country conditions. Of course, if there are no other light sources nearby. Then buy a good halogen lamp or DRV, you don't need to split it, and under good conditions you can catch it quite well.

to RippeR: Wow! In my experience, the antennae of butterflies do not burn. What is Engineer Garin's hyperboloid?
And yet, why come up with all sorts of schemes, when there is a good proven method?
If only for the sake of experiment?
Back at bursa in Prague last fall, I saw special lamps like super Actinish. A well-known experienced entomologist, looking at this, said: "Do not bother and do not waste money, buy DRL." Indeed, on German, say, sites selling entomological equipment, prices for the same DRV are higher than our Moscow (electrical goods stores) once every ten years! But if they sell, then there is a demand, so people are being led to it.
Of course, in the wild, almost everything in the world will fly to the light of even a simple light bulb, but I collect it in suburban conditions, where, although there is a forest around, there are 30 lamps around, if not more. In such conditions, the use of strong ultraviolet sources is the only effective way to collect such butterflies as crested butterflies, volnyanki, many hawk moth, etc.

This is not my lamp, someone else's experience.. I haven't cracked mine yet, maybe I won't crack it at all, let's see. But I don't want to get a tan in this way, and I don't want to lose my good eyesight. A simple drl is already good smile.gif

20.06.2006 20:33, americanecz

people! I can't understand it at all! what eyes!!!??? What burns!!!??? what are you doing all night at a distance of half a meter, sitting naked and looking at the lamp??? I have two DRL 400 and DRL 250 lamps, both cracked! chetyrehsotka hangs at a height of 3 meters, and dvukhsotka on a trefoil stands vertically on a sheet... in general, there is no escape from the light of lamps! from the means of protection I have UV protection glasses (I bought them on the radio market, yellow), a panama hat and a sweater, and I always turn up my sleeves! neither burns, nor eyes of patients at me for 3 years were not observed... maybe you have animals like drl 700 or 1000? but such things are only UFOs, not butterflies....

Yes! in short, if anyone is interested(information mainly for Muscovites)! in general, I'm overstocking with hardware right here - http://www.electro-mpo.ru - At the Alekseyevskaya metro station there is a wonderful store with two warehouses where almost everything is always there, unlike other branches... lamp, throttle, wires, plugs, sockets, all in one place...

20.06.2006 21:57, Bad Den

What kind of glasses do you have - "marking, derivatives"? smile.gif

20.06.2006 22:25, americanecz

2 Bad Dan
Sorry... points at the dacha! I'm in Moscow! I'll write as soon as I go!
If any Muscovites are interested, then in the Budenovsky computer center to the right of the entrance there is a small showcase selling souvenirs, magazines and these very glasses! I bought them for 600r.! there seemed to be four colors (black, cold fog, yellow and transparent)
But honestly... when I put my sunglasses on over my eyeglasses, the effect wasn't much different! This method only loses out in convenience...
And if there are skin problems ... see above!
Any strong sunscreen and it's all in the bag!
so beat the lamps!
Don't regret it!
However, there is one danger...
when the flask is broken, electricity hits even through the air at a short distance!
Approaching somehow to the screen I somehow shaded the lamp with my palm!
Tryakhonulo...
I wouldn't say that much...
insensitive!
and one more recipe!!!
I've just had a huge rubberized advertising sticker placed on a billboard...
Such as hanging along the roads!
The thing oboldennaya does not get wet! grass prezhimaet (lies down without strong folds)!
on the other side of the ad, it's white! I after night its water from a hose drench and it as good as new!!!
So who has the opportunity... I ADVISE YOU!!!

Yes, what are you! What dacha?! I go to Solnechnogorsk district in a field of some thread, which I looked after in the afternoon, and there I will catch. There's no sign of any light sources, just the light of the moon. smile.gif

21.06.2006 14:35, Solarway

I also looked at some good lighting equipment, IMHO. Rate it

21.06.2006 16:26, Pavel Morozov

I have Columbia glasses. Good, effective ones.

to Solarway: Mighty lantern!!!
By the way, about the moon: If the moon is strong at night, then there may not be a good summer. Although there are exceptions.

21.06.2006 20:19, Bad Den

I also tried to look for safety glasses (I also have an additional requirement for them - so that they can be worn over the usual ones). Here's what happened:

Yes, it costs 2600 rubles! Buy drv for 300 and do not suffer, besides, I think the fishing will be no worse.

For me, this is a small amount of money, and I don't want to fool around with a prick lamp, although I need a portable power generator under the searchlight when fishing in the field, but I have already solved this problem. Here Here user posted image

DRV do not need to split, you need to prick the DRL.

Hm... the weight of the generator suggests that you need to carry it and not carry it on your hands, i.e. you need a car. And if there is a car, then you can start it and power the lamp (at least through the converter), by the way, and the noise will be less (not 62 dB at a distance of 15 m).

22.06.2006 13:50, Solarway

2 Bad Den
And how to do it? I have a full kettle in the electrician. That's what I originally wanted: to connect the spotlight to the car. What kind of converter is this? where can I view it or buy it?

22.06.2006 16:38, Bad Den

I am also a "small cookware" in electrical engineering smile.gif
I know that, for example, an ordinary electric shaver can be connected via a certain device to the car's cigarette lighter. In theory, this device is a "converter" smile.gifThat's something you need to look for.

22.06.2006 17:20, Pavel Morozov

Friends! Why the spotlight?
And it's not the price that matters, but the effectiveness of the method.
Nocturnal insects are attracted to ultraviolet light. The largest component of it is just in arc mercury lamps.
If there is a passable wheelbarrow, there is a generator at least for kilowatts-do not be too lazy to use an ordinary DRV-250 lamp with an E40 cartridge - and in the field, in the Pampas, anywhere!
Halogen lamps performed well.

At least, well-known Russian and foreign entomologists use such lamps. In books, on websites-such lamps appear everywhere.
Our entomologist Viktor Sinyaev is an example of this.

I totally agree with Morozzz...
this bandura is lying in my dacha, waiting for me to hang it over the shade table...
I bought it foolishly after reading on www.entomolog.narod.ru ...
The effect of a 1000-watt lamp is incomparable even with a broken drl 250...
another negative! The gallogenki has a directional light, and the DRL illuminates the surrounding area in a circle!
I checked it myself! as soon as you light the DRL, the midge starts spinning, and you'll have to wait a long time for the result from this thing!

22.06.2006 20:20, RippeR

Solarway:
As we've already said, it's not the money that's the problem. It is better to attract drv, and the truck to the generator, a huge luminary, screen and other gadgets do not have to buy smile.gifAnd the generator is cool, and I would like to fish in the middle of nowhere, but I will use diodes, there are no funds for generators and cars smile.gif

27.06.2006 20:57, americanecz

people!
Who has a lot of money!
Has anyone tried using
Screens for large projectors instead of a rag screen???
The thing is oboldennaya! it is laid compactly, without seams, in short one large square of pure reflected ultraviolet light!!!!!
It's not even a show-off!
THIS IS A SUPER PUNT!!!
That's what you need to spend money on!
And not on a light bulb for 100 green!

27.06.2006 21:35, Bad Den

They're kind of smooth, these screens, insects can slide on them, I think...

27.06.2006 21:52, americanecz

well, let them slide!
Is it more convenient for you to remove them from the screen or from the litter?
me for example from below!
I don't know if this means prada, but it's all purple lit by the light of a broken DRL! for the beauty of what is happening, I also cut Blacklight and sent it to the screen!
here! So now I just have a portable monster! even worms get out of the ground!

27.06.2006 22:50, Pavel Morozov

Somewhere in the country there is an old projector screen lying around, but it is small. Naturally, such a screen reflects UV very well. The only question is: How big is it? How much will be in length and width.
And then immediately associations with the cinema arise. And where and how to fix it?

for those who use a bed sheet: Do not treat it with bleach. I read that such a sheet absorbs UV.

28.06.2006 15:02, Bad Den

When they can't sit down on the screen safely, they will try to take off, sit down, and hit the screen...

As I wrote above, I have 2 lamps...
One hangs and the other stands....
So that a good half of them gather on the ground near the standing...
as for the size...
I have 3x2m is really worth a lot of money!
I got it for free as a deduction from employees from the business center!

Well, it depends in which region to catch.
In general, a good night light is when the sheet is almost invisible under the lamp.

Counter-question: Where do you fish, in what region, locality, etc.?
Some very" worthwhile " species, which are very rare, are sometimes numerous.
Another question: What exactly are you interested in, what group of insects?
