Well, to keep the DRL-400, you need 400 watts. I don't remember my specific model, so I'll take a look at it one of these days. And to drag a heavy but cheap piece of iron into the forest, so that it breaks on the first day - why? Connect via the converter to a car, motorcycle, or bicycle.

There will be no problems with carrying!
in the car threw and just delov the!
And still I would like information on more precisely!
models and prices...

I've been using this one all season. I put a white cloth under it. Hawks and scoops fly. Light bulbs for 6V. Connected to the car battery. It works 36 hours. Very effective.
I did this: I glued foil to a sheet of plywood. I was drilling holes in another piece of plywood. then he made contact from the foil, and connected two pieces of plywood with self-tapping screws. He inserted light bulbs and connected them with a thick wire. I also glued strips of foil to reflect light.

What can you say about this method?

I would do without sticking foil. I would solder the light bulbs with wires. Contacts would be much more reliable.
Question: why didn't you install one powerful light bulb, but many smaller ones?

And the current does not beat such a design when you touch the bare wires?

17.02.2007 11:52, Tyomochkin

to okoem: it's hard in the field with a big light bulb. I only have a 12V battery. I didn't dare solder it, because it would be very difficult to replace the light bulbs. The contact is already good. What kind of foil do you have in mind? Strips or on plywood?
to Bad Den: only light murazhki on the skin from the wires. Electric shock does not hit!

Initially, there was such a design, although now there are not all light bulbs. But it eats a lot of current, the battery runs down in 30 minutes. And the efficiency is the same.

Have you tried to paint this plywood with white paint? It seems to me that then the light would be brighter

17.02.2007 13:38, Tyomochkin

You can try it. Really need to sort everything out! We need to think about this idea.

What can you say about your method? I would like to know the results of fishing.

18.02.2007 11:25, Pavel Morozov

Interesting, of course, interesting.
However, I will be a ditto and a bore, it would be good to look at the results.
Yes, and it will probably work only in stationary conditions.

18.02.2007 14:10, Aleksandr Ermakov

I will also be a bore and say that the effect of these light bulbs can be less than from a regular campfire. Unless collecting flyers is more convenient. From my own and other people's experience, I know that it is not so much the number and brightness of light bulbs (perhaps only for diptera flying on heat) that is important, but the spectrum of the source. The wonders of modern technology now allow you to power both a halogen lamp and a mercury light source from a battery. That's just to carry such a battery on the hump...

Euxoa trertici, Scotia segetum, Sphinx ligustri.
17.08.2006
Mesapamea Secalis, Catocala electa, Aglia tau, Diarsia festiva. (+halogen on 12V)
19.08.2006
Hyles lineata (by the way, it's not the time of its summer at all!), Hendena bicruris
Part of the list is lost. I can only post it in the fall.

and what came out of the beetles?

I meant that I don't understand why it was necessary to put relatively speaking 10 light bulbs of 1 Watt, when it would be possible to put 1 light bulb of 10 Watts? After all, it is easier to connect one light bulb than ten. You can use some kind of "car" 12-volt light bulb.
I mean the foil that is on plywood, i.e. instead of it, you could unsolder it with wires. But, I agree that in the field, soldering light bulbs is not so easy...
In general, in the coming season, I'm going to do this - a car light bulb 12V x 2A (24W) on a long wire to hang out in the woods; next to the sheets. The end of the wire is in the car, to the cigarette lighter.
As a second option-instead of a light bulb-a Chinese daylight lamp. Just need to adapt it to 12 V.
As a third option - a bunch of bright LEDs.
Let's see what it will be better to fly.

18.02.2007 17:31, Tyomochkin

and what came out of the beetles?

Bug crawled, did not have time to brush it off. But since I don't do beetles, I can't say anything.

Something I missed, where did you catch it?
Aglia tau in August??????!!!!!! WHERE? confused.gif

Tambov region. In general, the time of summer this year is not the same. For example, when I caught Hyles lineata, I was very surprised. Hawkmoth started flying very early, and many scoops started flying quite late.

18.02.2007 19:17, omar

Red peacock eyes in August is really kind of unreal... eek.gif

18.02.2007 20:49, RippeR

- Aglia tau in August?
-NO SON, THIS IS FANTASTIC smile.gif

18.02.2007 21:05, omar

We can assume, of course, that someone brought it out and released it....There are such pranksters. beer.gif

18.02.2007 21:08, Tyomochkin

This is not a fantasy. Given the fact that the weather during their summer was very bad. Now I contacted a colleague from Voronezh, they also had cases of Aglia tau in late July. By the way, she flew to the halogen lamp, and as far as I remember, she didn't sit on a white blanket like the others.

District of the Tambov region? Or at least north-south? eek.gif eek.gif eek.gif

Ilovay village (Ilovay-Dmitrovskoe).

I will definitely go and see what kind of village is so cool, and most importantly-what is around?

19.02.2007 13:45, Tyomochkin

A small village with the Ilovai River flowing through it. There is a forest. All around are mostly water meadows, meadows, and fields. (If you will be there, go to the brick factory, there are always a lot of butterflies there.) Near the Ilovai River, somewhere on the forum they talked about it, the mnemosyne sea.

Thanks! It will be very interesting to see. Butterflies don't bother me much, I like beetles more, but if I suddenly meet a red peacock-eye in January, I will definitely catch it! smile.gif

19.02.2007 14:11, omar

But I wouldn't tell anyone about mnemosyne... shuffle.gif

I caught Aglia tau at the end of July ,and also a female. True, it was in the Carpathian Mountains in the subalpine belt.

19.02.2007 14:58, omar

Yes, the Carpathians are a completely different matter. There it is at you podi usual....

19.02.2007 15:11, Tyomochkin

There, it is common just like unas! So it's also an anamaly!

There (in the highlands) just spring comes in the middle of summer.

20.02.2007 19:44, Pavel Morozov

Yes, sporadically there may be such instances that you can't even imagine. I, here in October 1992 (!) caught a hawk moth Hippotion celerio near Zvenigorod. Vo, knocked up!
And Mnemosyne isn't a butterfly that needs to be shaken around its stations like that.
Previously, there was an Apollo station in the Tambov region near the Rada railway station. I don't know if she's there now.

Yes, and Comrade will forgive me. moderator for offtop. I suggest that all participants pay more attention to the night training sessions for light and bait in early spring. That's when you can catch unexpected things.

Super! A one-way stream of light, no ultraviolet component. Good luck! lol.gif

24.03.2007 13:09, Aleksey Adamov

Today, I have seen "long" lamps (UV) on the market, ranging from small (for bill indicators - 4-8 W) and ending with a large one-20 W. The seller said that the "light output" is 5 times more than the rated power. I haven't fished in the light before (only ground beetles are needed), are these lamps suitable for such fishing?

They will go if you catch it far from housing (powerful light sources). They have a very low % of hard ultraviolet in the spectrum.
Ground beetles, by the way, fly well into the light

Min. 250 V max....... eek.gif

Take DRL-250 with a choke, split the flask and do not suffer smile.gif
