Ripper - congratulations, you can't confuse him with odontaeus! The guys took 2 pieces from us in the middle of May 2 years ago - I saw it in the training camp, and jumped up. I hope you have an odontaeus.

Good day and greetings from Ukrainesmile.gif
This weekend I caught the light (for the first time this year). Satisfied - horrorsmile.gif
I tried a homemade construction of water pipes (plastic, very quickly assembled, takes up little space and is very light and wind-resistant) and combining 18 W UV (black) and 160 DRV-super!!!!
Nemeryano scoop (took not all, cans and disposable cups were not enough nearbyfrown.gif), beautiful moth and a few hawkmoth and one Cossus cossus. Unfortunately, there were no beetles (except for every little thing that I'm not interested in).
I will definitely post a photo of the catch when I take it off the straightener, and now a few photos of the design I started with.
June 2-3, 2007, Ukraine, Kiev region, 27 km from Kiev on the Obukhovskaya highway, 50 m from the Kazinka river, near the village.Kazin. (from 22.30 to 1.30 and the "dishes" ended frown.gif)
Sorry for the quality of the photo, it's from a mobile phonefrown.gif

Gentlemen, I solemnly promise everyone that today I will take a huge acrylic bath for collecting falling beetles to the dacha. In addition to successful light fishing, it is supposed to be used as a window trap with a large piece of glass. smile.gif

Tell me, I bought a Philips drl400 the other day and decided to split it. in the topic they wrote that it beats at a distance with electric current, but I have a cartridge with a stainless reflector, it will not close through it? and won't a lamp with a 700-watt throttle burn out?

04.07.2007 17:14, Ilia Ustiantcev

Tell me plz, how best to catch from the balcony to the light, without using special equipment. The lamp is an ordinary table lamp, while I put it just out of the window, microns and a little dustpan flew. Lamp power 3525 W. Balcony on the 5th floor, the building is an ordinary five-story building.
And not quite on the topic: what is the best way to attract catocala?

And not quite on the topic: what is the best way to attract catocala?

1 - To the light.
2 - For bait. Mix there beer, honey and something else you can add and give it a little wander. Then this solution is soaked in some rags (I use burlap) and hung at dusk on trees (or on something else, if they are not present). Post naturally in August. Not only katokals fly, but also other scoops.

What kind of lamp is this??? eek.gif

Well, maybe I made a mistake, but there these names are found nearby. And it also has a strange inscription

04.07.2007 18:14, lepidopterolog

Most likely, they were mistaken, because a lamp of this power, even if it exists, will not be able to withstand any table lamp smile.gif220 - - most likely it means the mains voltage at direct current, 240-at alternating current: as far as I remember school physics, the wavy line indicates just alternating current.

04.07.2007 18:24, Zhuk

I once tried to catch on a regular light bulb (220). Also, a couple of scoops flew in and some kind of makrota. I was hanging a sheet behind the lamp. In your case, you can simply point the table lamp at the hanging sheet. It is better of course that the bottle, etc. around the lamp was not (remove if possible). But don't expect a big catch from it. Yes, and don't break the flask! smile.gif

this means a normal mains voltage of 220 to 240 volts AC (American standard 110 to 120 volts), and fluorescent light bulbs in table lamps are usually 11 watts

Here is the solution of the frame for the screen.
If you, of course, have a summer house and garden swings. Turn the awning to a vertical position, pull the sheet, if it is not white.

Oh, it's a pity there are no swings... But the boards are unnecessary in the country to ***, so you can make a frame.
Off-topic: already in the form of a ribbon, possibly blue, but rather nupta. (I was sitting high, only I could see the light on the wings)

08.07.2007 19:06, RippeR

I would like to learn more from Musson_max about its design. about the idea such pipes are expensive - how much can such a design cost? I want to make one for myself so that I don't have to worry about finding a place and hanging it smile.gif
And in general, more detailed about how it is assembled, what is the height of the structure, how much it weighs and takes up space approximately when disassembled (for easy carrying..)

08.07.2007 22:33, Pavel Morozov

Yes, fraxini is still very early. And nupta after such a leapfrog with the weather may well be.

09.07.2007 0:04, RippeR

how often do you catch fraxini?

09.07.2007 7:24, Сергей-Д

I saw nupta in Severodonetsk at the end of June, and one promise too. Now in the forest there are nupts and sponsors, not uncommon. It's not in the light, but if you walk in the daytime, knock on the oaks. And we don't have fraxini flying in the woods until August.
The day before yesterday I bought DRL-250 and at the dacha I tried to fish for an unbroken one. Arrived with more than a dozen types of scoops, cf. wine hawk moth, 1 type of woodworm, 1 cocoonworm, moth and many small things.
A couple of questions - DRL rastkolotaya-is it completely without the upper glass shell? Does it shine with visible light, or UV only? If visible, is it stronger than undivided? I just want to catch it right in the city from the balcony in the middle of the week, but I don't want to scare the first floor, people in the house opposite )
And yet - if the lamp is hung from the inside behind the glass-the UV glass will not pass, there is no point in hanging it like this?

09.07.2007 7:28, Pavel Morozov

In order not to drown, I will say that the blue ribbon flies very well both to the light and to the bait.
Years in the Moscow region from mid-August to the end of September (like two waves).
Nka svet can fly and 2-3 butterflies per night. On the bait once in mid-September flew as many as 6 pieces.

Of course, you need to remove the entire flask. It will shine insanely bright, impossible to look at. Read about the harm of this lamp in the same topic above.
Read above about the use of two non-split DRL 250 and 125 W, when they are alternately turned on. In the first photo with a garden swing, just my two light bulbs. It's not as bright as with split. And it is very effective, so they fly to my dacha no worse than to the split one.
Without a flask - 2 disadvantages: to spoil the eyes and disturb the neighbors.

On the advice of Frost, I hung the lamp higher, about 2.5 meters. I didn't feel any difference. Although, of course, this night was terrible, cold, steam was coming out of my mouth.

Thank you. At the dacha, I'll try to hang a split one, but in the city, since this is the case, I won't.

and there are lamps that do not shine in the visible spectrum but only in ultraviolet?
I tried to catch houses from the Balkans on the DRL - the whole block is on my ears sho well it shines there, why it is, etc.

11.07.2007 7:47, Pavel Morozov

blacklight bulbs are not the same, but not all insects fly to them, but some special groups. Well, as far as I know.

15.07.2007 22:26, Khlinoff

I tried to catch on a split DRL-400, maybe the weather is not the same, but only caddis flies fly and there are almost no butterflies, although a week ago on a normal DRL hawk moth even flew decently ...

15.07.2007 22:44, sealor

Sergey_D, so the split DRL does not shine as much as with the shell, but I also noticed that butterflies fly very badly to the flask, they fly, but they do not fly close to the lamp. Best of all, I catch on the "economical" lamp with a power of 28 W, this is a fluorescent lamp with a regular base. But it is also visible and also questions like-why is the light on all night and. p...

I remembered the promised photo report about the meeting with a Finnish colleague.
The generator is the same Honda as in the Proctios image (above).
Caught Kari at once on two light traps-samolovki, and managed to do it even in a heavy downpour. On Fin's forehead was a huge lantern-headpiece, the benefits of which I immediately realized when I saw the night soil teeming with ground beetles, haymakers and something else. Kari spent the first half of the night fussing around the nightingales. the second half-I slept, in the morning I disassembled and straightened out small change and "raisins", in the afternoon I ran and caught, in the evening I picked and straightened them again... and so on for 4 days. He ate quickly and unpretentiously. Catches like I was satisfied, only here is the desired bear (B. menetriesi) I never caught it.

Is there a lock in the bucket under the funnel? You can still take a couple of photos from different angles of this trap, it's very cute, maybe you can do this

There will be no more photos yet, as Fin has flown away. But he promised to return at the end of September. But that's another story that will pass without me.
And the design is extremely simple: my funnel is made of black light-proof polyethylene, a bottle with ethyl acetate is attached to the side of the bucket, from which a fabric wick sticks out. It works fine.

And in Fin's bucket are some cubes soaked in tetrachloroethane. Dry and effective.

The sky is overcast, warm, low atmospheric pressure, not too cool.
But why exactly these conditions are favorable... confused.gif

And I have such a question-maybe someone knows...I was going to install an inverter on the car.And I already ordered it,but at the last moment, something clicked in my head-it also gives direct current!I have a Philips lamp, 240 watts, probably works with alternating current?Or not?If at variable, then maybe there are inverters that give not constant, but variable?I don't want to buy a generator frown.gif

The inverter converts direct current to alternating current, and at the same time raises the voltage from 12 to 220 V. So use it boldly, just take it with a power reserve of 20.

In my opinion, on the contrary, it gives alternating current, and the battery produces direct current, as far as I remember. Why is the inverter (converter)called

06.08.2007 1:22, mikee

The inverter converts direct current to alternating current, and at the same time raises the voltage from 12 to 220 V. So use it safely, just take it with a power reserve of 20 percent.

It's not all that simple confused.gifWith such conversions, the power balance is always maintained. We count:
- electrical power of the lamp - 250 W;
- voltage on the lamp - ~220V;
- voltage from the battery - =12V;
- electrical power (for simplicity, I remove the "small" details such as the efficiency of the converter and the nature of the load) - P=U*I (voltage multiplied by current).
Total: moshnosti at the input and output of the inverter are equal, the current on the lamp = 250W/220V=1.14 A. And the battery will consume current = 250W/12V=20.83 A.
That is, if the battery has a standard capacity of 55-60A * hours, then it will last at most for 2 hours of lamp power, after which the respected taler will not start the car and will not leave under its own power...

We didn't finish high school, Mitrich used to say at the classics. That's why we don't load up on such complex calculations. Inverters are not made by idiots, and in this regard they are equipped with protection against fools. In order not to be left alone in the field or in the forest at night with the battery sucked dry, the inverter is cut off when the voltage drops below 10 volts (for the DRL-250, this is really 2-2. 5 hours of burning). In summer, this is enough to start the engine. And after that, you can continue fishing, while simultaneously recharging the battery from the car generator. What I actually do sometimes. Using lower-wattage lamps avoids this fuss.
