Or maybe change the place of fishing-the station will change, and therefore the species composition ?

I'm an electrician, like... In general, I'm a loser in electrics! Actually, I came across such a toy, called an emergency illuminator! It can work for 4 hours with 2 lights on! So that's what you can squeeze out of it in terms of fishing? Worth a try? I would just like to know how much this valuable acquisition is worth!

2 Tyomochkin
I have a similar lamp flew.
You should try it somewhere in the summer, in the bosom of nature...

Or maybe change the place of fishing-the station will change, and therefore the species composition ?

Eh... I'm thinking about it, but there are no convenient options yet.
And so, I often go to the dacha, near the forest, mountains - and then there is electricity and a lamp. Very convenient. I have already studied the local flying lepidopteran fauna well from March to November;-))

I finally finished my mini project! The idea is this: a screen is attached to a tripod (such legs for a camera) - three parts of fiberboard (I won't wet it, I won't carefully exalt it, it's normal for me!), 30*40 cm. Consequently, it is 90 cm long and 40 cm wide. A canvas in the form of a "notebook cover" is put on it. Then the tube is bent "like a lamppost", a wire passes through it and through the tripod tube, it's a pity that it's oak.... Well, there's a cartridge and a lamp! The height can reach ~ 160cm. If the legs are removed, practically on the ground! It is disassembled and placed in a regular pcet! It takes a long time to do this, but only if there is time....
I am waiting for suggestions for improvement, comments, well, or at least opinions......
There is one question: what is the best distance between the lamp and the canvas? Just the first year catching... DRL 250 lamp!

I would also make vertical walls...And the fact that most people prefer a vertical surface. And yet-it seems to me that the lamp is too low to the plane. It won't be very convenient to collect them.

I think the screen should be made bigger. Yes, and it would certainly be better to make a vertical one... But it can be placed against a white wall.

08.11.2007 21:01, Tyomochkin

I have the idea there is another 30*40 fiberboard sheathed in white fabric, you can use it as a vertical! Yes, in theory, you can tilt the tripod so that the screen stands at an angle of ~ 15*(degrees). Make one leg shorter... Well, with the size, I saw it, I just wanted to be more compact... Here are all of them separately:
Four pieces of fiberboard, tripod, lamp, switch with wires and throttle, tube in the form of a lamppost, cartridge, white cloth. Like everything! Well, in one package kanesh hard... Two will definitely fit!

It's too heavy, cumbersome, and the area of the canvas is small.
Copy the bourgeois product and you will not know grief.

Here I have one-basically satisfied. It folds compactly, not heavy.Easy to assemble and disassemble(assemble as a tent). One disadvantage is that it's too small. But for such a master as Tyomochkin, this is not a problem.Just take bigger sizes. And so everything is simple and convenient. Not as simple as a duvet cover, but not as bulky as a bathtub smile.gif

10.11.2007 15:51, Khlinoff

And the heat from the light bulb will not burn? close as the lamp turns out...

10.11.2007 19:41, Tyomochkin

I asked about this in my post, so far no answer....

10.11.2007 19:44, omar

It seems to me that if the fabric is not pure synthetic, then it should withstand a non-split lamp.

And what do you mean-too small? What is the diagonal size and height?

10.11.2007 21:38, Tyomochkin

Too small-90 cm-length and 40 width

The one in the photo is 180 cm high and 150x150 cm at the base.
Quite enough IMHO.

I have the same dimensions. But I don't think it's big enough. The lamp spectrum exceeds these sizes

I saw a 250-watt UV lamp in Kiev at the poultry market.

18.11.2007 17:40, Ilia Ustiantcev

By the way, they say there is a lamp like DRL-250, but it works on electricity. (DRV?) is it true, where can I buy it, for how much, and will it work from the household network?

18.11.2007 17:46, AntSkr

Maybe I don't understand something, but does the DRL not work from the network?

Oh, so it's online, too? from the usual one? is skoka worth it? where to buy?

18.11.2007 17:55, AntSkr

I don't know how much it costs... the old device I have, in which the lamp itself is screwed, can be made to plug into the socket. I just don't know much about this equipment, so I can't explain it in more detailshuffle.gif, but I use a regular network to turn on the lamp, and how else? confused.gif

Apparently, it means directly, without a throttle. Such lamps have already been discussed in this topic (DRV and their analogues from Philips).

18.11.2007 18:33, Ilia Ustiantcev

Exactly. And then, they say this very throttle costs a lot of money...

18.11.2007 19:01, Tyomochkin

Throttle=600 rubles+DRL250=160 rubles+cartridge=50 rubles+wires=150 rubles! It costs about 1200-1300 all together! I kept within 1000 rubles xs as! I even bought 2 lamps and two cartridges! But now we need a lot of boxes!

Fuck the money.we can't get it at all.

18.11.2007 20:11, Pavel Morozov

In Elektromontazh, the throttle is cheaper.

18.11.2007 20:24, Tyomochkin

I bought it there, on Alekseevskaya Street! I rounded it up, so it costs ~ 560rub!

18.11.2007 21:56, RippeR

Come visit us in the summer - we will cost 400 rubles for a lamp + throttle smile.gif
I took a throttle for 300 rubles, a lamp for 100, well, nonsense for a cartridge and wires..

As for the DRV, I can say that it seems to fly a little worse on it than on the DRL, especially with regard to beetles.. But the drv does not need a throttle, so now it is also sold drl with a small cap - that is, it is screwed into any hole and works.!

DRV-250 160 p. DRV-500 290 p. A cartridge seravno need, ceramic need, plastic melt....

Uh-oh.. it depends on how you use it smile.gif

Oh, now we'll be drowning in drool until spring... smile.gif I catch the light for a long time, but very irregularly, under the mood and when the opportunity is there. I use some ancient medical and household ultraviolet lamp of low power (100 watts, no more), which uses infrared heating lamps instead of a throttle. It will be necessary to try something more powerful next season, otherwise you all paint everything very sweetly heresmile.gif, but what is interesting is the radiation spectrum. I have repeatedly observed how the subtle difference between the DRL in street lamps critically affects the flight of insects. This was most pronounced during the Saturnia pyri summer in Dagomys. There is such a path to the sea on the mountainside above the local gardens. Along this path, several dozen identical lanterns with a height of 4 meters are installed. So ALL the butterflies flew to only ONE lantern! And to the human eye, the lanterns differed a little only in brightness. I wonder what are the observations of colleagues on different instances of lamps of the same type (DRL/DRV, split/non-split)? And then the forum discusses only the difference between lamps of different types and power. Also interesting is the experience with the height of the light source installation. I remember reading a very long time ago in some Greenpeace article about an American scientist who made experiments with light traps installed at different heights, followed by an assessment of the number and species composition of the catch. There were no details there, except for the statement of the fact that the catchability depends on the height. He very successfully caught at home in the suburbs (in the city), installing a lamp right in the kitchen window. The height is about 10 meters above the ground, i.e. at the level of the crowns of nearby trees. Very, by the way, it was convenient, because the catch flew into the kitchen and quietly waited for the morning, if the light is not turned off. From the balcony of the next room, the process of capturing a butterfly by a cone of light was clearly visible, and after hitting the cone, the butterfly began to fly in a zigzag pattern that narrowed towards the lamp and window. The probability of hitting the window was limited only by the size of the window smile.gifNow, basically, I indulge in the same lamp at a dacha in the rural area of the Ryazan region. The house is located on the edge of the forest, the lamp installation height is about 3 meters. Catches are significantly inferior to kitchen ones both in quantity and in species diversity frown.gifSo, can anyone here give a general analysis on all issues? Or a link to a serious source?

From my experience: moving the light source from 1.8 to 3 m up does not give a visible improvement in catchability.

19.11.2007 18:30, Tyomochkin

Come to think of it. If the lamp is located at the level of 1m, the lamp's illumination range is APPROXIMATELY 100 meters in each direction (for example). When the lamp is raised up to 3 meters, the glow range increases by 100+(3-1)=102 meters. That is, in principle, the effect is almost no! The power will not increase, the lamp indicators will not increase either! Only dalnsot glow on 2m and then.... Another thing is to climb 10 meters(from a balcony, for example)! Anyway IMHO no point in raising the lamp!

Exactly. There is nothing insanely expensive.
I want to note about the height of the lamp.
The installation height of my lamp in the country is about 230-250 cm. This allows you to better protect your eyes.

I personally did not understand, is it worth pricking the DRL? I'm only interested in efficiency! Does it improve in the future?
