Hello everyone
People!
I'm a Muscovite... And I don't go far from Moscow to collect taxes...
The question is:
I still don't have our peacock eyes Aglia Tau and Eudia Pavonia!
They say that these are half-day butterflies, but they fly to the light...
Tell me:
- Approximate dates, when it is better to go for them (so as not to lose)?
"What time should I turn on the lamp?"
-Well, if anyone is not sorry to share the points, I will be very happy!

In these species, males fly during the day and females at night. Taking into account the climatic conditions of your region, I can assume that the optimal time for fishing for Eudia pavonia is the last decade of April - the second decade of May. For Aglia tau, the beginning of summer usually coincides with the beginning of apple blossom. To attract males during the day, you can use females. I have a large number of Eudia pavonia cocoons in stock. If necessary, please contact us.

In our region, tau flies from the beginning of May to the first decade of June, males fly en masse until the foliage blooms. Females were seen flying in the early twilight. I don't know if they're flying into the light.

Tau females very rarely come into the world. They are easier to find in the grass in places where butterflies fly.

I usually collect both males and females of A. tau during the day, sitting on twigs, when the leaves are still in bloom, or still very small. They are, by the way, very clearly visible. You just need to carefully inspect all the surrounding vegetation! Males are often caught flying during the day. Although in May 2007, I caught two males at night in the light. The females were never born.

and what are the caterpillar feed plants of tau?

25.02.2008 19:32, gumenuk

This female I shot in 2007-flew to the light. There were no other arrivals. And males in large numbers can be found during the day flying on forest clearings. And all fly in the same direction.

People!
Can anyone tell you more about Pavonia software???

28.02.2008 12:46, Sergey Didenko

Caught a female pavonia on May 9 in Moscow (2 km beyond the Moscow Ring Road) Kosino-Ukhtomsky, in the Orekhovo-Zuevsky district in the country from 1 to 10 May every year, several pieces arrive, starting at dusk and until 24.00.

Once I caught a female pavonia on May 9 on the outskirts of Yaroslavl, I did not see males in nature, but I brought them out of the caterpillars, I find caterpillars regularly, mainly on willow trees. Yes, I completely forgot to write, the female was caught in the late twilight, between 22 and 23 hours.

By the way, in 2006, I caught a white female pavonia in Odintsovo district of the Moscow region on June 2.

About the beginning of the season of "light hunting"
In this topic, it will be more appropriate to write that in early spring (and late autumn), the night shift time usually lasts up to 23 hours.
In cold weather, butterflies often circle around the lamp and do not want to sit on the screen.
Of course, in cold weather, the summer will not be so plentiful, but you should not neglect it. The year before last, at the end of April, I caught Orthosia gothica and Cerastis rubricosa at the dacha at -6. In addition, such interesting scoops as Eryopygodes imbecilla and Atypha pulmonaris flew in the summer only during cold weather, when the air temperature was no more than +8-9.
As you know, rain is not a hindrance, on the contrary.

Definitely, true spring butterflies (that is, not those that winter) come out en masse when the air temperature rises from +10.

I used to catch Sednya in the light smile.gif. Naturally, nifiga did not arrive. Early still in the north of Moscow probably

People!
But this "makar" tried to put the lamp???

I'll put it that way smile.gif
They're flying like darlings!

03.03.2008 22:45, Tyomochkin

And on what to fix the cartridge!?

04.03.2008 3:10, RippeR

the cartridge is not a problem to fix - you can put a plaque or something else...

kotbegemot:
And what are the results? So it's better to fly or worse, it's more convenient to collect or not?

04.03.2008 3:14, Vlad Proklov

kotbegemot:

Yes, normal...
I'm so used to it and I'm so comfortable. Butterflies actually dofiga, only catch time smile.gif

04.03.2008 10:52, americanecz

By the way, this method of installation in the field is much easier!!!
Tinkering with niswhat you don't need...
And you can also argue about the "affected area"...
I don't know what's better... Hang the lamp upside down... Or like a candle!
In tochnyak!!! I patent the name of this device!!! "CANDLE!"))))

04.03.2008 11:16, Pavel Morozov

Where's the lamp? on earth?
In the open space, this will be very good, but in the conditions of a country partnership, I personally did not catch such makar very successfully.
Looking constantly down at the lamp for vision is not very pleasant.
And then, as it is, there are plenty of butterflies falling into the grass, and in this way won't there be more of them getting tangled up in the grass and flapping their wings?
In this case, the use of this method implies the presence of a more or less flat surface.
I don't know about you, but it's more convenient for me to shoot the catch from the screen, and so you'll just be collecting everything upside down.

Although, you should always put a sheet on the ground.

04.03.2008 11:24, americanecz

Not Morozzz!!!
You're wrong...
Just with this method, insects accumulate in the grass less than when suspended ...
The only problem is that the change is collected in a pile near the lamp... It crawls everywhere... Burns out accordingly... After that, the lamp exudes the characteristic smell of burnt corpses!!!

04.03.2008 11:32, Pavel Morozov

"The only problem is that the change is collected in a pile near the lamp... It crawls everywhere... Burns out accordingly... After that, the lamp exudes the characteristic smell of burnt corpses!!! "- so it will burn more than it collects

04.03.2008 12:12, americanecz

You don't understand...
By small things, I mean mosquitoes, midges, micro...
I'm not really interested in all this...
There is, of course, another disadvantage...
Once a bag of net on the lamp sparashutiroval...
All melted down... And a kayak!!!

04.03.2008 20:09, Sungaya

when the lamp is placed on the ground, it is less possible to maneuver the net. One careless move and you'll have to change the lamp.
Again, the light hits you right in the eye. And if you catch on broken-so instead of butterflies, hares can be caught.
And one more thing - during the rain, this method is not safe. And somehow it does not attract, listening to the hiss of drops on a hot lamp, to guess how long it will last in such conditions.

04.03.2008 20:21, americanecz

Don't tell me brother!!!
Just when you can't wave much...
The rest is yes...
