a notable collection!

Ouch! How bad and sloppy I am after that...Clear out, clear out those slender rows of perfectly spaced beetles. You're not German, are you, Entalex?" Do you do that for tiny beetles, too? Although it is better not to show me, the toad will crush me. redface.gif

The box with barbels is particularly impressive-like on the parade smile.gifground

The collection is just great! Why aren't there any butterfly collections in sight?

22.05.2007 8:03, Zhuk

Ugh, here come the butterflies:

Beetle, not in the Moscow region took Neptis sappho Satyrus dryas?

About nationality - as they say, " was not, was not, was not involved." tongue.gif Small things are even more interesting to spread out qualitatively - you get great satisfaction, although it takes time and effort. If dear Omar is not very upset , you can post pictures of midgets. smile.gif

To be honest, I really want to take a peek through the crack to make sure I suck. Best of all, ours, from the USSR (well, I can't write "CIS", for the life of me).

Once you realize that you don't have what you need, then it's time to change! Start with the following - not much is better, but high-quality!

22.05.2007 14:10, omar

I agree. I will collect less, but better.

No. They are from the Saratov region

Failed smile.gif. I found it once on some website, I don't remember any more. And it's all for sale! It's even pathetic.

Some of the scoops there. Some instances (e.g., Calyptra lata, the entire left row except for the bottom four, and Trachea sp) do not have my fees.

Here are scoops, some moth hawks, silkworms, and eupterotids.
Southeast Asia, mostly Borneo. The image can be slightly enlarged.

to Zhuk: Collages with beetles reminded me of the description of the initial symptoms of delirium tremens in my studies - the so-called pareidolic illusions (some drunks "catch" silver beetles running away on an empty table).

Insanely beautiful, of course.

Well, you can argue here.. Who likes it-if you are a scientist, then aesthetics may not touch you at all.. But it is better to combine both..

Ouch! It's already painful to watch! Thank you so much for that. I myself work on small ground beetles, so for me your collection will be the standard. Indeed, an amazing exemplary work, an example for everyone to envy and a powerful stimulator to be at least a little similar. That's great, Entalex! Please do not only please us with bonuses, but also post photos of small things! This is relevant!

Thank you Omar! If possible, I will post it. As for aesthetics, it seems to me that if the entomologist does not have a great need for this, then you should not bother. The main thing is the material and the desire to work with it! smile.gif

Alas, an insane job, but now try to see the signs of beetles from below frown.gifto Soak and remove from the dies? Beautiful, I don't argue, but I wouldn't be in a hurry to write down examples, IMHO, if we are talking about scientific work with the collection.

This is so, in the genus Harpalus presented here, the" necessary " chetotaxy is located at the bottom. It seems to me that dear Entalex already mounts certain beetles...or is it not so?

24.05.2007 0:05, Насекомовед

By "crazy" I meant "time-consuming and tedious," but nothing else. I ask you not to be offended smile.gifMyself previously glued tetrigid, now I refused-I prick with a pin. For other small things - minutes.

I do not argue, the factor of some inconvenience is present. But I have seen "especially" scientific collections, where the material is all tattooed and in an ugly state. When it makes no sense to look down, because the instance has no legs, antennae, head, etc. If we talk only about the convenience of scientific work, beetles should be banal alcohol. I've remounted beetles more than once. And if I have a need to remove the bug for redefinition or comparison-I hope I can handle it. tongue.gif

mmm...Take off...Without breaking eggs, you can't make scrambled eggs?

24.05.2007 6:23, Насекомовед

If we talk only about the convenience of scientific work, beetles should be banal alcohol.

I come to the same conclusion. Recently, especially valuable fees are placed in small plastic tubes in alcohol, often 1 single copy (for example, after recording an acoustic signal), attaching all the labels there. Leatherworms and other pests of collections are no longer dangerous. Yes, then the alcohol material can be dissected, if you need to look at the anatomy; with dry it is already impossible to do this.

unfortunately, this is not suitable for beetles. if you need to make a preparation of the inner bag from an alcohol-based material , you have to suffer.
