High technology for catching insects

Friends, I don't know if there was a similar topic somewhere, but I will venture to create one.We live in the twenty-first century, surrounded by high-tech structures. And what new things were invented for us entomologists?maybe someone has some options for modern traps?DRL lamp+station weighing 40 kg, is this the limit of its development?surely there are lighter and more comfortable devices that attract no fewer butterflies. What else can you use to detect a caterpillar on a bush other than your own eyes?I would like a detector to detect beetles or the like, do such things exist or is it all just fiction?

Got it! DRL lamp and generator in 10 kg weight!!! smile.gif

Spiders collect animals on the ultra-violet at night. They are contrastingly visible in this spectrum.

if you need high power , then you have to put up with large sizes, this is physics that will not go anywhere. As lighter devices, we can recommend LED lamps, they are lighter, do not break, consume less (for example, Chinese LED flashlights, only more). Such illuminators are already used in Europe, but I can't say about the maximum power of such lamps, they are suitable for apartment lighting, but they may not reach the DRL. As for recognition on bushes, then the technique passes, because there is nothing cooler than the human brain in terms of pattern recognition in nature and, unfortunately, will not appear in the next 20 years.

R. S. would recommend to be careful with tips about RF radiation, in particular ultra-violet, because the increased power of RF radiation can be very harmful to health, ranging from burns of the skin and eyes, ending with blindness and even more serious consequences.

high technologies have already been invented - what about smoke detectors!?

25.08.2008 20:03, omar

this means, apparently, neutron beetle catchers with a synchofazotron species-specific laser sight

and smoke detectors are the last century, they are just a converted jet engine

laughter is laughter, and the methods of collection and dissection have changed very little in the last 200 years. Net - main strument.

25.08.2008 22:25, RippeR

Well, I was actually thinking of patenting a net that would fold in half when you press a button or something.. ^_^ The problem is that I haven't done it yet..

1) Entomology is not so popular, so there are no departments. working on building hardware-pins are already a problem to find!!!!!

2) In Entomology, jet gadgets with synchrophasatron dowsing finders and butterfly and beetle catchers are not needed.. All the most important things have already been done - this is a net and stain! smile.gif

although I still have a couple of interesting ideas about the promotion of entomological equipment, but I have no idea how to implement them..... It will be difficult and not reliable with my own hands smile.gif

Well, we need to voice these ideas. If they are worthwhile, then you can try to implement them. The discussion will probably result in improvements.Only preferably without flooding about neural traps, etc. mad.gif

well, the last idea that came up is a stain that has 2 chambers - a larger one for killing insects and a smaller one for ethyl acetate. In the cover connecting both cameras, there should be a small hole, as well as a mechanism, such as what is in the spray guns and a button at the top.
System: we throw an insect into one chamber and press a button, as a result of which a small amount of ethyl acetate gets into the stain, which is sprayed and quickly kills the insect...

When you go to the patent library to search for analogues when writing an application, you will be extremely surprised by the huge number of other people's ideas about the same net tongue.gif

This is a great idea! Here's what you can recommend:

picture: ex1.jpg

Sold perfume bottles they are just with a button.
We take a jar 1 with a lid 2 we put such a bottle in it 3. We glue it to the bottom with, say, super glue. Inside the bottle, pour the necessary liquid 4. Now it remains to mount the piston 5 in the lid. From what to make a piston you need to think rolleyes.gif. On the flip side, you can offer a mechanism from a fountain pen. So we press the plunger on top of the lid, the plunger presses the bottle button and there is a zilch of muck in the jar jump.gif.

Since the bottle can be empty, you still need to have a funnel through which to pour any muck into it.

I made an experimental layout. Works. If necessary I'll post pictures

Thank you all for your interest,I think some of them correctly understood my thoughts.about the stain is really interesting.I think this is quite possible.can use parts from perfume bottles, deodorants, etc. as a pulvilizer?

26.08.2008 16:47, Fornax13

Not every plastic ethyl acetate and tetrachloride will pull. It's about the spray bottle. And so, the idea is interesting, of course...
Does anyone have any interesting suggestions about collection methods?

yes, there are already a lot of collection methods.. This is different garbage for shaking off, and traps, etc. What else do you need?
For some, after all, it uses interferomones-what is not high technology? Just not profitable for every nonsense formula output...

26.08.2008 17:08, Fornax13

New methods - new findings. I think so. For many groups of insects, there are really a lot of collection methods. But not for everyone, unfortunately.

Then you need to name specific groups.. I can suggest a new method of collecting fleas, but you're not looking for fleas?

27.08.2008 5:05, Raptor

RippeR-can you find out more about different garbage for dusting off and traps somewhere?maybe where there are drawings, instructions??maybe I'll discover something new.can I please send a message mol.gif

27.08.2008 5:12, Raptor

For example, I really want to find hawk moth caterpillars developing on the bedstraw. But I have a bedstraw that does not grow into any large bushes, but is spread out in the form of small bushes (3-5 twigs)for many kilometers of the steppe.in short, small and scattered.here's how to find a caterpillar on one of these?although by the end of summer, most of it is eaten up by the roots.

27.08.2008 5:12, Raptor

but about pheromones, this is serious!

27.08.2008 7:43, Bukashechnik

I probably won't discover anything new, but lately, instead of vinegar, I've been pouring it into Faerie soil traps. The color is better preserved, and it is more pleasant to work, in terms of smellsmile.gif

There is a lot of information on this forum - everything has been discussed many, many times wall.gifalready.

Bukashechnik: does fae attract beetles? 0_о

27.08.2008 12:41, Guest

Ripper Fairy beetles do not attract, it serves as a preservative, an analog of vinegar. Not pure faerie, but a solution in water. The smell of it in my opinion will be more pleasant than vinegar. Vinegar is good in kebabs and pickled cucumbers, and then in moderationsmile.gif

27.08.2008 13:07, Vabrus

So, wait a minute. So you're saying that vinegar doesn't attract beetles? If there are only faeries trapped, then what is it that attracts them?

We'll have to try it out. My whole room is full of carabuses, even though I pull them out in a week with a change of bait.

27.08.2008 15:42, RippeR

Well, a week in this heat is creepy..
You can try to combine a Drop of Toilet + salt, in the brew.

28.08.2008 7:07, Raptor

Oh,and Bolivar doesn't like me, constant reproaches. tongue.gif

28.08.2008 9:09, Bukashechnik

Dear Trofim, it will probably be too much to keep for a week. Fairy usually keeps the smell for 2, maximum 3 days, then it is advisable to change, especially in hot weather.

28.08.2008 11:46, RippeR

What if you try to make a bug straightener!? For those who do not like to fool around with straightening-zhka set, legs pressed to the walls, the beetle is straightened... and everything will be according to the standard. You can make straighteners of different sizes.

So! The test was successful! Gentlemen sloths, rejoice! Now the beetle on the straightener of the appropriate size can be straightened for...20 seconds! Or even less.. (yes, and the production of straighteners takes no more..)

And here are some more supplements.
I want to note that people who do not spread the beetles at all just need to stick their paws with tweezers in the gutters. I try to straighten it completely, so I spent a little more time and pins (nevertheless, everything turned out quickly)

Blanks can be made by family, or by size. For example, such a chute can accommodate different types of carabiners, both smaller and slightly larger.

We continue our experiments. This time I took bahurin's favorite material from bahurin's package smile.gif
The layout was drawn under sherry, cut out with a knife (past works were made by hot forging..)
As you can see, it is ideal to spread the beetle much faster in this way. The only thing-you need a lot of blanks if you spread a lot of beetles at once. In general, I think to make a blank only for the middle of the beetle, because the front part is very easy to straighten and so..

My proletarian gut tells me that Ripper will definitely patent something! smile.gif

29.08.2008 9:00, collector

Styrofoam - maybe good!? What if the dried beetle catches
on the spines on its legs and breaks? I personally straighten the beetles
on the mounting substrates where the top nadkleivayu cardiolenta
(same milimitrovka but thin ka tissue paper and the grid
is applied with gray paint)at the same time, beetles look even
in larger series of 100 pieces as tin-cast soldiers.
But this is my personal path, which I do not impose on anyone.

29.08.2008 11:58, RippeR

the probability is small, but you just need to be careful..
And what kind of mounting substrates!? 0_o What does it look like in the end, can I take a photo??
