Dear colleagues, are there any fundamental negative aspects of storing pinned insects in boxes standing vertically?

I don't think so. Of course provided that the material is firmly mountedsmile.gif

10.03.2009 16:38, Liparus

I understand correctly that my tropical ones are horizontal ,and our elephants are vertical.?

10.03.2009 17:17, Anomalocaris

Sorry, apparently I didn't ask the question very clearly)
I was referring to whether it makes a big difference in what position the boxes with the material are stored, i.e. whether they lie horizontally or stand vertically, say, like books on a bookshelf.
I'll post a photo in the evening)

I store vertically. It's more convenient for me. I don't see any fundamental problems in this or that type of storage

The vertical arrangement of storage boxes is used in many museums.

In Paris, for example
, the Le Moult Collection
In Belgium is sometimes
kept by many Russians as knigs

People, what size of boxes do you consider the standard, and what type of size would you buy a batch for yourself? This is to the fact that it may be possible to order the manufacture.

And where will you be from? I use (cm) 30x40, 40x50, height 6.

10.03.2009 20:57, Yakovlev

I have 40 for 55.
In general, there is no standard as such. Now in Europe, Czech boxes are very popular, which are made at the company of Pan Krusek, I unloaded a couple of thousand of them once for Witt, I was exhausted to carry

Thank you for your opinions and useful information.

I use 24x34 boxes. The whole question is in execution, delivery to Kiev and price!
I generally need 20-30 pieces (maximum 40), so if something specific, write in PM, as this is no longer on the topic of this topic!

Sincerely yours!

it seems that the standard is 30x40. I personally think 30x40 is too small, especially if you put a series. I like 40x50 most of all - it fits moderately and doesn't take up too much space.
I prefer to store it horizontally. Vertikalno seems to me not very convenient, since to view the content, you still need to flip smile.gif
The only thing if you make cabinets. that vertical storage seems to take up less space, but not much..

Vertical storage reduces the likelihood of leatherworms.

11.03.2009 7:42, Konung

it does not decrease at all. My collection was stored both vertically and horizontally - they start up the same way. You just need to pickle it in a timely manner, then any collection will not start smile.gifup

Vertically it is more convenient to store, it turns out how the books of the box stand-each is signed and there are no problems when pulling out. Grisontally suitable if there is a cabinet with separate shelves. I have two types of boxes 30x40 in the cabinet (in a horizontal position, although there are not many of them yet) and boxes from under the copier, the benefit that you can get (cut off in height to 5 box and 3 m cover, vertically). And the standards should already be placed under the cabinet - or the cabinet under the boxes, depending on what is first.

And isn't it more convenient for beetles that eat the collection to crawl horizontally than to crawl to the top? confused.gif
It is very inconvenient to work with more boxes, but the collection looks more perfect in them, so even the eyes run away.

But in the case of vertical storage, it is very easy for them to fall down on other insects!

11.03.2009 18:29, RippeR

isn't it more difficult for leatherworms and their larvae to crawl on vertical pins? than horizontal? That is, the pins are in a vertical position when the box is in a horizontal position, and it is more difficult to climb the pin than on the surface..
In any case, if the larva is wound up, then in any case it will get to anything and devour what it likes )

For leatherworkers, the spatial orientation of boxes and instances in it probably doesn't matter.

In vertically standing boxes kozheeds are started less
often this is fact

12.03.2009 13:13, Konung

no, not a fact smile.gif

12.03.2009 19:05, Guest

I support that storage in an upright position will save you more from the establishment of a leather eater!

No, not really smile.gif

You haven't changed your mind about going to Altai, if Kamchatka breaks down, I'll go to Altai, then I can pick you up on the way.

12.03.2009 23:44, RippeR

where is the fact? I don't think anyone has done experiments to test it.. Or to have someone standing next to each other in different boxes to check..
People who write about virtual boxes and poison not bad..)
