My photos of two rare objects in our Lipetsk region: the Orion golubyanka (Scolytantides orion) and the ball-bearing molodilo (Sempervivum globiferum), its food plant. Surroundings of the village of Preobrazhenovka, Dobrovsky district, May 5, 2020.

Yura, in the reports (I don't remember the year), I threw photos of Orion caterpillars from the Vasilyevsky cordon and there they are found not only on the sedum (Sedum sp.) something like purple or... the one that apollo feeds wink.gifon

In the Voronezh Region, I saw orions in the area where the stonecrop (telephium) grows. Lipetsk region is full of stonecrop, but the population of this butterfly is only in the area of mass growth of molodila. So I thought that Orion was on the young side... Or maybe they eat both? We need to check it out. I wish I was here in the summer. frown.gifThank you for the information!

And what a Tambov you are! (See the caption under the nickname). You're from St. Petersburg now!

Young people in those places are also in abundance, but the orion goose was found only on telepium or maximum ( I won't say exactly what it is there), I didn't see any nibbles on the young ones at all. Orion has been observed there for 3 years in two generations.

Yura, I love the heat, so I went to spend the winter (in Peter I hate) on the gentle Baltic shores -when it was -15 in Tambov, it was +5 shuffle.gifhere You yourself are in Lipetsk only in winter, and so long ago you registered in Yakutia, but you go for a walk wink.gifI promise that with the first endromis I will return to studying the fauna of my native Tambov province, including: Lipetsk, Lebedyansky, Usmansky and Borisglebsky counties tongue.gif

Something in addition.
In the vicinity of Pyatigorsk, I encountered such a phenomenon.
At the end of May, Arion flew and flew until mid-June (approximately the same time as in the Volgograd region). However, since mid-July, Arion has been flying again. Moreover, the "spring" and "summer" individuals were quite different from each other, and if desired, they could be considered different species. (Just the "summer" arions are very similar to the Volgograd ones) The same situation was observed in the vicinity of Dzhubga. No additional observations were made.

In the Red Book of Kuban (Lukhtanov and Shchurov 2007), the following is written about it::

"Most of the Kuban area is inhabited by a light blue form, topically confined to well-warmed grassy associations in the altitude range from sea level (Anapa, Betta) to 700 m above sea level (Soberbash). The subalpine belt of the northern macroslope in the altitude range of 1800-2000 m above sea level is inhabited by a dark blue shape. According to the terms of adult release, the blue form belongs to the sultry phenological group of lepidopterofauna. Butterflies fly from mid-June to mid-July, and according to the XIX century, from mid-April to the first days of August."
