Potosia Extension (Netocia?) marginicollis, Ball., 1870-12. VI. 2000, Uzbekistan, Tashkent region, Chimgan, 1500m
Beetle from the cuprea group, rather close relative of R. metallica, its range is isolated: mainly in the south of our Central Asia from the Amu Darya River in the west to Kulji (Xinjiang) in the east, with a visit to Afghanistan (according to Medvedev).

Protaetia (Potosia) cuprea obscura (Andersch, 1797),
15-20.VI.2007, Montenegro, Petrovac.
This subspecies is widespread in the Balkan Peninsula and adjacent countries, including even Austria and Hungary. Bronzerka seems to be quite common on flowers along with P. angustata.

Hello dear!
Yes, that's right. It is a common subspecies there, and in the western and southwestern parts of its range it often overlaps with P. (P.) cuprea cuprea, P. (P.) c. olivacea, and others. This is it ... a group in which, unfortunately, the genitals do not work. Therefore, I advise you to collect the entire cuprea subgroup from all regions and habitats as much as you can, even scrap. Damn interesting and stubborn band.

Look here, I caught this animal about a dozen years ago in the Uzhgorod district of the Transcarpathian province.
Then he did not climb into any keys (metallica-fiber and others like it) and fell into the then unmarked P. cuprea obscura for the USSR.
What can it be, at least theoretically, eh?

is there any data on the flow of Bessarabica?? Who caught it, when, how many copies.. ? When was the last time you were caught and opinions on this matter (maybe a variation, aberration, mutand-geek, or specifically a separate species??).. And then I almost didn't see any information, I didn't hear any opinions-I don't know what to think frown.gif

Hm.. I wish I could catch it.. I wanted to go to that place this year, try to catch bessarabia, but it's a long way to go, and I didn't have timefrown.gif. I'm most interested in two notches on the process of the pronotum - how important do they play and do they have transfugas?

27.08.2007 13:33, Nimrod

No, there is no notch on the process. I have few specimens of this subspecies from Turkey, and as far as this is correct, I can assume that this trait is also unstable, as, for example, the development of spots on prsp. and elytra. In typical c. transfuga, the process is large, broad, and straight at the apex. Sometimes it occurs with a slight concavity in the middle part; in some cases, the process is somewhat "cut off" from the sides, forming an irregular square; sometimes there are deep pit-like depressions on the process.
The shape and appearance of the process itself, as well as the entire beetle, is laid at the pupal stage, and, most likely, all these notches, depressions, etc. - there are special cases of teratosis caused by various causes: from causal effects on the pupa, or even the larva, to genetic failures.
I advise you not to bother with this feature. All the same, it is secondary to the definition, but the basis of everything is the size, color from above and below, the shape and location of spots (including on the "knees"), the shape of the platypus, the shape of the hind legs, etc.
Sincerely,..

Corsica? Then it is P. (Eupotosia) affinis tyrrenicaMiksic. It is an endemic subspecies found only on the islands of Corsica and Sardinia. I've never held such a thing in my hands...
Tell me, Mr. Pascal, would it be difficult for you to take another picture, but only from below this male?
How common is this subspecies?

Thank you very much, Mr. Pascal!
This is indeed P. (Eupotosia) affinis tyrrenicaMiksic!
Can I ask you a little favor?
If you happen to visit the area again, could you put together a series of this subspecies for me, if possible? However, I am interested in any material from the Mediterranean. Possible exchange. I will send you the necessary banking details by personal mail.
Thank you in advance.

P.S. to All. In general, to all who are interested. Take my word for it - this "beast" is very rarely seen anywhere. Personally, this is the second time in my life that I've watched it. I advise you to download the image, you never know where it will be useful. This is just a royal gift given to us by Mr. Pascal.
Sincerely,....

Hello, gentlemen!
I'm sorry, I don't have time, so - briefly and in order.

1. Let's resolve this issue, Mr. Mylabris. This is not interruptocostata.
2. Everything is there, Mr. RippeR. Write to me on the soap - with vidua we will solve it.
3. Protaetia sp1 and Protaetia sp 2 are all brevitarsis. This species really has a lot of aberrations and about 7 subspecies, Mr. Cerega. Hence, the first is ab.impunctataKr., the second is ab.nigrogyaneaKr.. The outgrowths of the middle breast are slightly different. Strange. But you can't check it, because the first beetle is a female, the second is a male.

P.S. Gentlemen, if you do not mind, write to me better on the soap.

In the Odessa region, most likely, there is a different, non-nominative subspecies. It wouldn't hurt to check, of course.
So far, it is tentatively P. (P.) f. borysthenica S. Medv.

P. (P.) cuprea volhyniensis (G. & P.) Here, Mr. Elizar.

02.02.2008 17:59, Cerambyx

to Nimrod:
And specimens from the type locality of P. f. borysthenica differ well from other fieberi? A. Gusakov said that they are really bright green on top, even somewhat resemble Cetonishema. And Odessa in my opinion is quite normal fieberi... By the way, how do you feel about the isolation of P. fieberi boldyrevi? Judging by the Orenburg series, all the distinguishing features between P. f. fieberi and P. f. boldyrevi are strongly floating (if not to say more-beetles "we" have corresponding to both, and similar to boldyrevi in Medvedev's understanding do not even say that they predominate...). pieces of "normal" fieberi.

03.02.2008 0:38, Nimrod

Yes, they all "float", by and large, Mr. Cerambyx. S. Medvedev, described boristenica from the specimens bred from larvae, but, apparently, was not familiar with the collections of Dr. Penecke (Bukowina), the giant collections of Proshiga (Zhitomir) & Jenni (Kiev). Yes, and after them they picked up a lot... But all the same, bright grassy-green forms, even "poboristenisty" boristeniki were collected singly in:
Chernihiv, Poltava, Sumy and Kiev regions, and even in Bessarabia (1 female - 1911).
Small series are known from North America. Odessa region, Zhytomyr and Vinnytsia region.
I came across an almost red uniform. Black forms are known (Austria, Slovenia).
Reanimated P. (P.) incertaCosta (Italy), which I have not seen in my eyes, but I suspect that it can be.
In order to answer all the questions, you need larvae of this species from different points of view. When I have the material, then I will be able to say for sure whether these are subspecies or just variations of the same species.
Unfortunately, I don't have the boldyrevi subspecies. I can't say anything.
To separate species and forms, it is better to use the Mikshich fauna.
