It seems that Nikitsky collected Cymindis vaporariorum in Konobeyevo on a dry meadow with traps

Very interesting information! Somehow I didn't think that vaporariorum could live in dry meadows.

So it is, collected. yes.gif You can view Fedorenko's list where scans of books with Entomological themes can be found. Outdated, though.

I also had several finds on sukhodoly.

I didn't see Arcticus. I'll look at Mannerheim in my boxes, take a picture and put it on display.

I was late, of course, with photos, I apologize. But better late than never.

Great! The background color is especially good. Yes, and straightened masterfully.

And the symmetry is the result of combining one half of the image with its mirror image?

Yes, it was not without Photoshop. I prefer the "academic" strict style for everyday photos. Layer stitching + Photoshop symmetry - a total of 6-8 hours is spent on one photo. I've had a lot of fun shooting, but as always I don't have enough time.

In terms of symmetry, it turns out great! I would even say perfect. But the lighting is not quite natural. It looks like two lamps are shining from both sides. Maybe you should try to direct the light exactly from above when taking photos? Or make it more diffuse, without harsh glare. smile.gif

Unfortunately, with all the equipment that I have at hand ( and believe me, it is already artisanal in our age), this is the most realistic way out. I also tried to play with lighting (there are great reviews on the Zinovsky site-you should know!) "unfortunate... Therefore, I postulated for myself: if the "photoshop" edition does not affect the symmetry in any way (for example, some ground beetles with asymmetric mandibles, etc.) AND COLOR - and this, alas, and with Photoshop exercises, is not always possible - so do not judge strictly - the best option. My main task is to convey the habit, proportions and color - and these pictures (in a compressed version) they look good when printed out on standard printed sheets.

Yes... I envy those who have mastered Photoshop...
