I wanted, of course, to take a live picture, but I was afraid that it would fly away.
In general, I have already been convinced more than once that it is better to catch it first, and then photograph it later.

Morozz, consider yourself lucky, since not all entomologists from Vladivostok (I mean professionals) can boast that they have come across this butterfly. Especially, as it seems to me, also a female! You can be envious, congratulations!

And why nolids? It's like a solitary BEAR, isn't it?

This is what you probably read in the Red Book, Ilya. Follow the link to http://translate.google.com/translate?hl=e...hl%3Den%26lr%3D
Everything will clear up there. Yes, and in other sources - this is nolida.

Strict monophage? Can't another oak eat? it seems that Mongolian is still growing there, but of course it differs in ecology and morphology. Or is she so sensitive to the climate that she likes the sea more? smile.gif

Write that it is jagged. According to the same Red Data Book, scalloped oak is found in the coastal zone, as part of shrub communities, and grows near Lake Khanka. Camptoloma itself is protected in the Kedrovaya Pad, DV Morsky and Lazovsky nature reserves.

Yes, Pavel, I read that. Is it really so isolated that biology has not been studied? No one tried to grow it artificially. Just wondering if she can change the feed base or not. In general, this happens among butterflies (change of food plant)

Regarding the food supply: there are Catocala nagioides in the KK. Sviridov writes that it feeds only on the same jagged oak. it flies locally, and "everything"... I caught these butterflies in an area where there is no trace of this oak, although also in the Khasansky district. So, they flew to the light enough, and it was clear that the year had just begun, and they simply did not have time to fly a long distance from the places where the tooth oak grows (butterflies are "zero"). There is plenty of Mongolian oak there. So much for the feed base listed in the notorious CC.

Poor darkened butterfly. Its uniqueness lies in the fact that it is rarely found

In short, we need to go and collect material and information.
