what is the possibility that it was previously correctly identified? or is there any material?

F. A. Zaitsev first brought it for the region, he could hardly have made a mistake. I had never met him before in my collections and in the collections of our entomologists. But, of course, no one was looking for it on purpose.

Good afternoon!

Please tell me, and then so boldly identified in the topic of Reports, it really is two males and a female Dytiscus dimidiatus.

It's just that I'm far from an expert in swimmers shuffle.gif

Maybe some additional sign is needed - let's do it smile.gif

Thank you in advance smile.gif

This is dimidiatus. In semisulcatus, the anterior edge of the pronotum is without yellow edging, while in females the grooves are longer.

I had never seen such small beetles in such magnification and quality, but I guessed that each one, even the smallest bug, was actually a grandiose structure. That's an understatement.

Nikon Coolpix L820 plus the simplest adaptations from improvised parts, no special equipment. And adequate processing in Photoshop, of course.
By the way, according to my scale, this beetle is medium-sized.

Roman, a little smile.gifmore Some groups require a complex definition. Until recently, I didn't know the same wrinkles at all, but now I understand enough of the material. And several views really need to be shot for the story, because not all specialists held them in their hands.

Hi. smile.gif

On the advice of dear Dmitricha

Beatle. yes.gif Plavunets are a family of Dytiscidae. If you lure wink.gifhere a respected botanque, or throw a photo here in this topic: http://molbiol.ru/forums/index.php?showtopic=218370&st=200 - you can expect to determine at least up to the genus.

I brought you an Australian swimmer to show, with the hope of determining! shuffle.gif

We have an Inglomaniac hosting service, which requires that all signatures be written in English letters, but does not recognize the Cyrillic alphabet. And I love it when there are captions to photos. smile.gif

Hydaticus sp. from the group of species H. fabricii or similar, male. It is unlikely that anyone will be able to determine up to the view from the photo.

Thank you very much! smile.gif

That's how to sign it correctly?

Dytiscidae, H. fabricii, Hydaticus sp.

Or remove/add/rearrange something?

Hello. Can anyone confirm or refute my guesses? There are two specimens of beetles from the Komi Republic: a male and a female. According to my definitions, it turns out that this is a species of Dytiscus dauricus, previously not found on our territory. Photos of beetles are attached.

This is the most common Dytiscus lapponicus. The color is only dark. And the name "dauricus" speaks for itself.

In my opinion, the drawing from Fennoscandia's hydradephagus (Holmen, 1987), also in Kireichuk's determinant from Gram (2001), quite corresponds to reality.
