When I put together pictures of the bordered Moth-Lomaspilis sp. , then it turned out that there is no one that has a complete similarity with the others. The variety in the drawings is understandable, they belong to different types. But if you look closely. then the pattern of the left wings does not match the pattern of the right ones.
All images were taken: Moscow region, Ramenskiy district, the vicinity of the village of Khripan in the period from 28.05.2007 to 13.07.2007 (ascending order).
I put up each picture separately so that in the future you can make a record of the butterfly's species. I hope for your help in determining exactly.

Here are the differences.

With all the variability, it seems to me that these are very easily distinguishable species.
"Keys" exist to be usedsmile.gif:
1 (2). The black basal spot of the anterior margins is elongated along the anterior margin, and its length is 2-2. 5 times the width... L. marginata
2 (1). The black basal spot of the anterior margins is rounded, occupies almost the entire basal area, and its length is no more than one and a half times the width of ... L. opis

Greetings to all (I came to the forum for the first time - I don't understand how I lived before...
:-)
That's right, but here I want to insert L. opis collected in the north of the Kuznetsk Basin (including Kemerovo), the south-east of the West Siberian Plain and the north-east of the Kuznetsk Alatau. For ssp. nigrita Heydemann, 1944, Karelia, Baltic states, C. European Russia, S. Urals, C. Europe, Fennoscandia are given. In another source, Krasnoyarsk is also attributed to it - near us. I haven't seen any Krasnoyarsk copies, but there are significant visual differences with the copies displayed here on the forum (for my copies). The original subspecies are very far apart. So maybe a new ssp.? tongue.gif
On our specimens, I also focus (immediately striking) on the following signs: the second spot of the median band of the front wing (better called the median) is strongly elongated (not inferior, but more often exceeds in length the first one at the front edge), as a result of which the dark tone generally prevails and, as soon as possible, that you can see narrow light bandages (remnants of a white background). The basal spot can sometimes be not so wide, and in L. marginata it is sometimes quite extensive (but, to be fair, only sometimes they are almost compared). Also, our L. opis is almost always blacker than L. marginata. They fly together to the light. But here is 1 copy is very different: both spots are small, set aside from each other (but nevertheless it is clear that their length is still about the same) - and somewhere I already have such an instance. I saw it from another territory...

Here is our L. opis (do not pay attention to the quality - removed through the glass-hermetically sealed...)
