We have a small group of large and, as it seems, ancient barbels.

Please correct me if I misidentified this female from the south of Ustyurt (SW Kazakhstan). And support the topic with illustrations, at least based on the fauna of the former Soviet Union. In the network, except for Prionus coriarius, no pictures.

I turned on the lights there. And it was a uniquely windless night. Beetles crawled and flew smile.gifBut not barbels frown.gif

Yes, you can't put your finger in the mouth of such a person!!! tongue.gif

12.01.2009 21:20, omar

To be honest, it doesn't make much of an impression. Obviously, weak jaws, the head capsule is not enlarged to accommodate a solid musculature, the lever of application is also very unsuccessful. So there will be no serious consequences. It will be limited to a couple of drops of blood. Much more interesting are the short titanium wire cutters. A friend told me that 3 matches tied together, snacking.

13.01.2009 10:48, Nikolaj Pichugin

Eugene le Moult in his book describes an encounter with two titans in the forest. He had nothing to put them in, and Eugene le Moult wrapped them in a handkerchief. The handkerchief was in tatters as he walked home.

13.01.2009 13:23, RippeR

well, the cervus will bite your finger until it bleeds, even medium-sized beetles. Egosoma skabrikornis also bites the finger smile.gifSo I think macrodontia can also..
And what is titanium capable of scary to think smile.gif

According to the list of the Cerambycidae (Subfamily Prioninae) of the World by Z. Komiya & J. Lorenc, only Xixuthrus lunicollis (Lansberge, 1884), which was previously considered a subspecies of Xixuthrus microcerus (White, 1853), lives on the islands of Buru, Ceram, Amboina, Mysol, and Key. The latter, in addition to the nominative, which is distributed from Thailand to Kalimantan and Java, as well as on Sanghir Island, has 3 more subspecies:
X. m. bufo (Thomson, 1878), Morotai, Ternate, Batjan, Halmahera;
X. m. nycticorax (Thomson, 1877), N. Australia, Cape York;
X. m. axis (Thomson, 1877), New Guinea, New Britain, New Ireland.

For what I bought-for what I sold..... wink.gif

27.01.2009 16:01, sebastes

Yes, what a specialist there is... Just trying to keep up to date.
And you're right about " ... for what I bought...". It is a shame that even well-known dealers sometimes inaccurately, or even simply incorrectly label the material, you have to figure it out yourself. And this is only good, although you lose time.
