Bombycidae - real silkworms!

Community and ForumInsects imagesBombycidae - real silkworms!

An unpopular and small family, but very interesting, it is most represented in Asia. There are about a hundred species in this region.
It is easily distinguished from other families by the way the wings are folded at rest - they tuck the hind wings under the front ones so that they are almost invisible.

The type of whiskers of the female is suspicious.... and the hind wings too.... and the whole butterfly is not like that.
I think it's from a different group.

Thank you, Vadim.
Taking advantage of the situation, I want to ask a question. Where are they now? In Bombycidae or Endromidae? Everything on the web is contradictory.....

this is called a low blow (((
The scheme adopted by Europe: based on the analysis of genes (mtx and nuclear), the family is divided into several branches, of which Bombycinae itself remained as representatives of its family separately, and all other branches were in the same cluster with Endromis and on this basis are united in the Endromi(di)dae family (mustilizance goes there.) I wouldn't really mind if:
1. Morphologically, there would be some common features with Endromis and Mirins, except for 4 wings (((
2. There would be no common interesting features (such as special tufts of hair on the anal field of the hind wing, the structure of antennae, venation, similarity of caterpillars) with the branch of Bombycinae proper.
I am still solving this problem, but it seems to me that the problem is not that the genes show such a picture, but that we count them with some initially inherent error that we do not catch. If someone has any ideas , we strongly need to solve this problem.
Well, it's like lemony synonymizing with Brahmins - the same background.
