Another remarkably large and apparently new Salpidobolus for science. "Shoots" terribly smelly secret 10-15 cm. All the walls in the terrarium with these animals were always orange from the secret.

Indonesia E, West Papua, Onin Peninsula ... 2010 ... leg. D.Telnov

Tell me, is the composition of the smelly secret known, at least approximately? How dangerous is it for predators and humans?

maybe I'm wrong, I don't remember where I got it in my head, but in the secret of kiwsyaks there is a certain percentage of prussic acid confused.gif

Peripatopsidae Gen. sp. (Onychophora) - the first and so far only find of this type (!) animals in the Northern Moluccas. The German colleagues did not determine the type, they did not describe it from a single copy.

The bird-eater. I didn't take it - I regretted it (I don't catch arachnids at all, with the exception of amblypigids, teliphonids, and several other groups).

Also not quite an insect - Macrobrachium lar (F.), det. P. Ng Lee, 2007

I have never seen and will never forget such a sight: a mountain river, boulders, low water level (the river fills up only after rain), the sun is shining. We go upstream and from the rocks something large, under 10 centimeters, jumps into the water all the time in front of us. They began to catch-there were healthy shrimps in the sun (!) basking on dry (!) stones, and seeing us jump into the water and get hammered under the same stones.

They were delicious (I carry a pot and "plates" with me, this time they went to the forest for 7 days), but there was also something left for science.

Coptengis sheppardi (Pascoe), or a similar species. Very common. Just a small thing to get to the Moluccas smile.gif
