Good day to all. About a year ago, I became interested in butterflies and collected a small collection of local species ( Voronezh region). Today I wanted to buy the book "Atlas of Butterflies and caterpillars", the price is 570 rubles. I've prepared the money, I come in, ask the seller to open the book, I look - it's not worth my money, but it's a pity. The pictures are small, the colors are all blurry, and the explanations are confusing... I didn't buy it... Please recommend literature that contains information on the structure of butterflies and their caterpillars, the peculiarities of their life, and breeding.

Yes, the famous book is a simple reprint of Lampert. I was lucky - I found it for 250 re, although those were a pity. Check out "Butterflies" by Murzin and Brattsev - a very cute popular book. Sometimes there is also a field guide for butterflies, which is quite detailed with a good quality of photos. Recently, however, I haven't seen anything sensible frown.gif

"Butterflies" by Murzin and Brattsev is a great thing! If you are in Moscow, go to the Pet Museum, it is possible that they still exist there. A couple of years ago, an excellent book was published - "Bulavous lepidoptera of Northern Asia" by Yu. P. Korshunov, it can also be used for the European part. It costs about 300 rubles (in Moscow).

As for Korshunov's book, according to experts, it contains quite a lot of blots with descriptions of species, although the book is cute.

Thank you, but I don't think we'll be able to get to Moscow any time soon.
Tell me, I found it in Ozone :
Helgard Reichholf-Rome of the Butterfly. The most popular reference book, Price 210 rubles.; John Farndon Butterflies: Types. Building. Behavior, c. 158 p.;
V. N. Alekseev, V. G. Babenko Atlas of butterflies Price 249 rubles;
if you compare with Lampert, what they are.

I found an online atlas of daytime butterflies http://bratcev.chat.ru/
Author-Brattsev, butterflies from the Murzin collection. But you can't save such a page - it doesn't work independently in any way. frown.gif

About Reicholf-Rima - a mediocre popular book, more suitable for reading. Europe. Better buy Korshunov smile.gifErrors there, if any, then in difficult groups (Oeneis, Erebia, etc.)
