Principle of operation of fumigators

Community and ForumEntomological collectionsPrinciple of operation of fumigators

Dear colleagues,
I tried to delve into the principle of operation of fumigators, but I didn't find anything other than advertising them. There are certain active substances that cause insects (and in particular, mosquitoes) to either die or "dump". For me, this is not only interesting, but also relevant - I just counted 17 mosquitoes in prominent places in the room. What is the biological (=biochemical) effect of these plates?
Shed some light on those who know or expect!

They. Mosquitoes do not die, but are temporarily immobilized, stop flying. When the device is turned off from the wall outlet, full-fledged activity is restored after some time. I checked it myself about 5 years ago experimentally. I carefully tore off the wings of one mosquito and placed it alive on a warm tablet of working fumitox. In the morning I woke up and saw him alive, in the same position sitting on a pill. This mosquito was put in a jar and stayed with me for 3 days after that. He died, probably from starvation or from injuries caused by amputation of the wings. That's how sadistic I am. cool.gif

There are different types. I also met some (especially about 5 years ago), from which mosquitoes die dead smile.gifmore often - they just fall or fly, but do not bite.

for better biting, but not flying...this squeak terribly interferes with sleep....

And I constantly notice that they are hammering on the ceilingsmile.gif tiles on the ceiling clicks loud enough. Apparently they are killed by apstenku and die of concussionsmile.gif))))

If 10 pieces are sitting on the ceiling, I suck them in with a vacuum cleaner. smile.gif
And if on the topic, then fumitox is about the same as for a person with a combat nerve agent, for example sarin, only fumitox, as the link says, does not inhibit acetylcholinesterase, but simply reversibly disrupts the ion balance in the cells, so that mosquitoes do not die if they are not exposed for long enough, and sarin is just this ACHE inhibits, so that after 10-15 minutes the heart does not stand up and stops. Amen. smile.gif

fact on the face and plates and liquid do not kill mosquitoes and make them not bite (immobilize but they do not catch or they start to beat on the ceiling then fall and fly again but alive) while the tool works.as the tool stops working, these same mosquitoes bite you.(for example, you opened a window or went to the balcony). according to my opinion, this is done specifically to get us hooked on this tool.
