Sorry, you were given this biotope!?
For the same polyxene, for example, in the middle zone (Middle Volga region):
1. Let's protect all floodplains?
a). Anthropogenic factor. Polyxena no longer lives in many areas of the floodplain! Although, for example, kirkazon grows within the city of Penza.
b). Bataniki claim-we have kirkazon growing everywhere!
c). Complete nonsense-it grows only on floodplains of large rivers!! And already in the upper reaches of these rivers, butterflies (caterpillars), despite the presence of kirkazon, are not in sight!
d). In some floodplains of large rivers, kirkazon has not been found - as a result, there are no polyxenes...
e). etc.
All these questions / answers are described in my article on polyxene in the Penza region.
I foresee that I will be criticized again - where is the article!? As I was assured by the editor-in-chief of the annual magazine "Izvestiya PSPU" - it is in the pdf somewhere on the Internet?? I'll probably need to post the article somewhere... where? I don't know much about the Internet.

- And why does it happen that there is a kirkazone, but there is no polyxene?
"I don't think anyone blamed you.".. confused.gif
- You can ask the pdf editor or without it. If not , it can be scanned from the log.

I don't know about Russia, but at the current rate of destruction of the remnants of Ukrainian nature, it is easier to include still preserved biotopes in the CC than to list the crowds of insects. The volume of the book would become smaller, and the benefits for their (biotopes) protection would be greater wink.gif
A joke, of course, but...

No, this is a perfectly reasonable approach - for plants and insects at least.

I understand, I will try to post both articles on mnemosyne and polyxene. Don't scold me too much - I have a free Internet connection (what speed is clear) at uni and not only does it work intermittently, but it also has a lot of restrictions on pitching, etc....

On the question of why there is a kirkazon - but there are no polyxenes (butterflies/caterpillars), read more in the article. Briefly: in Penza, I probably just don't reach the kirkazon (thickets) of this butterfly species... and at the highway-probably a lot of soot/dirt on the leaves...
"the tracks are edavite, but more riders..."
- in the upper reaches of the rivers, the microclimatic conditions of the biotope no longer allow (wetting of plants - as a result of fungal diseases - well, death...). We put an experiment with feeding wet kirkazon...
"Maybe something else... As they say ," the further into the forest-the more..."
So much for the WELL-known polyxena, it is quite possible to write a monograph.

In the same edition (another year), an article was published on mnemosyne! The magazine was not given to the authors (I fished out a copy for myself) - and the authors (mostly young ones) were told that all publications would be posted online... I'll come across this editor...

As it turned out, the publication is really laid out-on http://elibrary.ru

No, it's not a joke. I myself recently expressed almost the same idea, only in relation to our nature. The idea is that protected areas should not be declared territories where the so-called "red book" species live, but those for which local botanists and entomologists collectively vote. Because in this case, it is better to rely on the" flair "of a specialist than on these"red book" ones. While we are "protecting" them, "monitoring" them, etc., much more interesting habitats may be under real threat (or simply there is no time to study). Money should be allocated for floristic and faunal research, and not for this Red Book nonsense. Although some people find it much easier to monitor a large, easily accessible view.

I wonder where this is written? About the trip... We had an official permit from the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, and all the formalities were followed.
