If you see this messagewink.gif, it means that I won't be able to come and make a video today.
If anyone has such an opportunity, it would be great.

Yes, I think there is a lot to talk about and argue about!

19.12.2012 23:01, Melittia

Dear friends, it is highly desirable to have the owners of entomological sites present and participate in the discussion.

20.12.2012 16:16, Sungaya

And it is also very desirable that someone insure with video shooting.
I have a pre-holiday emergency at work; I may not be able to come and shoot the video.

25.12.2012 17:46, Melittia

Friends, I remind you that we are going to meet tomorrow!

27.12.2012 3:31, А.Й.Элез

Unfortunately, without the first (maximum fifteen) minutes.

Unfortunately, I was not present at the report, the work again interfered, I can only judge from the video (Andrey Jovovich, thank you very much!). It is unclear whether the speaker/audience has any understanding of how Sci-Hub works. In fact, access is carried out through a proxy of ordinary American (usually) students. Hence, requests not to download large volumes at once and books in their entirety - soon after such actions, the computer of the corresponding student is blocked, and the administration has to look for a new proxy. Were JStor mentioned (there are also a huge number of old articles there, just in the 30-60s, accessed through the same Sci-Hub) and the GBIF portal? In the latter's database, in addition to the values entered by users, there are links to collections of specific European museums, and sometimes to specific specimens, which allows you to at least slightly increase the degree of confidence in the correctness of the definition (at least in simple groups). In addition, the importance of public photo hosting sites should not be underestimated - by performing a search in the same Flickr for the most basic keywords, after a long, tedious analysis of the results, you can stumble upon very interesting faunal data (of course, I don't put a link to this data. But if there is a valid point, the problem boils down only to its availability). Further, it would be worth mentioning the largest national entomological forums. For example, my source of information on China has been serving me for more than one year www.insect-fans.com where 50 times more people communicate than in the entomological section of molbiol, and all the teams are perfectly covered. Of course, there is a problem with translation, but recently it has become less and less acute as Google Translate improves.

Will there be a video? It would be interesting to see about the new methods.

That would be really cool! But you should ask Alexander (Sungaya) about this.

Unfortunately, I can't say in advance whether I will be able to come. So a safety net would not be superfluous.
