It is these animals that we would like to introduce into the culture. As far as I know, the main problem with breeding (not keeping, they live well in captivity, namely with breeding) S. pedo is a long diapause at the egg stage. For southern animals, a long diapause, as far as I know, is not typical.

05.03.2011 16:52, alex017

As it does not really sound like the size of 20-25cm. Now I looked at the ruler and was horrified! I have a small room to keep such a beast))) He needs an obscenely large insectarium.
Experiments with diapause are certainly interesting...
Only if you bring such animals and release them to a clearing bounded by a forest and watch them from time lol.gifto time

05.03.2011 19:17, Zlopastnyi Brandashmyg

IMHO, the dimensions are exaggerated. Unless, if you take from the tip of the mustache to the end of the ovipositor. But still, the animals are big.

05.03.2011 19:52, alex017

Moreover, the antennae give 50% of the length)))
After all, acrids have a more interesting appearance!

What about grasshoppers that live in trees (similar to our own) in Turkey? Also, probably, there are large, loudly singing and beautiful ones?

scar and exactly 20cm? And what is the name of this rack? It is very unlikely that up to 20 cm on the body, this is a very large size for an insect that does not live in the tropics.
There's a filly sitting in front of the first left paw smile.gifof the rack What's her name? smile.gif

06.03.2011 17:42, scar

Well, I didn't run after them with a ruler, so I speak more from my own feelings. I have no idea what kind of species it was, so I gave it to an orthopterologist I knew, and I wasn't interested in their fate any more. A couple more photos.

Here I am!
Everything is wonderful..... except for a few small things: there are no insects at all, nothing alive was found in the sea, the wave knocks you down. About an hour's walk from the hotel through the village directly (not along the beach), after the end of the hotel zone of Alanya (behind the Atlanta hotel in Mahmutlar), the beach area ends and the rocks begin. Only there in the sea found snails, shrimp, dogfish, red horse anemone. Snails, sea anemone took, dog could not catch, shrimp is not necessary. I put the animals in a 10l bottle of water, turned on the aeration, I will change the water once a day, although with such a wave it is problematic to get water. This moment of catching at least someone slightly smoothed out the situation with the capture of insects, which are not at all any!!!!
Small butterflies, bees, small grasshoppers-this is a complete list of insects. I was able to find and catch some flying blacksmith by some miracle. I was looking on a small mountain with wild nature. Maybe I don't understand something or do something wrong?? Where are the notches? Or the rumor that all the notches in the resort and farming area are etched with insecticides?

I really want to catch a sea urchin. They said that they crawl on the stones, I found the stones somehow, climbed as far as possible, so that only the wave did not crash on the stone, I also looked under the water, hedgehogs were not found!
People, where to get a hedgehog??

08.05.2011 0:41, Bad Den

Where are the notches? Or the rumor that all the notches in the resort and farming area are etched with insecticides?

Catch a taxi and drive away from the resort zone

08.05.2011 7:09, Pirx

That's right, away from continuous pesticide treatments.

08.05.2011 8:25, Hierophis

I told you that you will need to walk at least 7 kilometers upwink.gif, you can see in Google earth where there are normal vacant lots, and go there. And it seems to me that fishing in the vicinity of the island with slides near Alanya is not very promising. There are probably 2.5 tourists per square meter smile.gif

Sea urchins.. can try in the water with bare feet wink.gif))) But in general, they are poisonous.

08.05.2011 12:46, alex017

I went for a walk on the sea yesterday. The waves are hefty, knocking you down. While I was scraping the sea anemone off the rock, a wave almost hit it a couple of times. All the coastal rocks climbed, no hedgehogs. It will be necessary to try the local fishermen.... Again, you don't know how to torture?

I tried to go up, but the roads stopped. I've also managed to forget my tights and boots, and Ice isn't walking on grass in shorts and shoes.
Caught locusts eat! So while everything is OK.

Now, after lunch, I'll make another attempt to look for animals.

hedgehogs approach the coast in the second half of summer

08.05.2011 20:17, alex017

I went for a walk in the mountains, it's no use. Pofotalal, cuttings of interesting plants cut a little, burned completely, because today it was very hot and cloudless even over the mountains. But THERE ARE NO insects! This is kick-ass. Locals fertilize with manure, piles of covered huts are standing. Maybe no one poisoned anyone, but probably there is no one big. No luck specifically. And what to do now, if there is no one to catch.....

08.05.2011 20:37, Zlopastnyi Brandashmyg

Try walking along the coast at dusk. If it's not too cold at night, then very interesting creatures can come out. Beer traps can be placed under the rocks. There should be interesting crickets along the coast, they should go for beer.

hedgehogs approach the coast in the second half of summer

if memory serves, in mid-April, hedgehogs were observed on the coast of Syria (Banias) in the surf zone.we need to look for photos.

09.05.2011 8:15, alex017

Do you also look for hedgehogs closer to night?
We are not afraid of the cold, clothes are available, we are from the north))) On the contrary, the sun creates gaps. But the flashlight in Suya was forgotten.
The presence of crickets should indicate the sound, right? There are no sounds on the coast, I went to the water at dusk to change the marine life.
By the way, I watched the lanterns, no one practically winds around them.
Thank you all for participating!

09.05.2011 10:57, taler

hedgehogs approach the coast for breeding.so are the jellyfish.jellyfish, of course, are driven mainly on the surface and closer to it, where it is warmer.the hedgehog doesn't have this option.so it comes up later.I have repeatedly collected hedgehogs in July and August because of my gastronomic interest.yes, and yet- 'suitable', does not mean that it sits on the shore-you need to dive 2-3 meters

09.05.2011 13:39, alex017

I was tense with diving. I can't swim))

09.05.2011 22:33, Hierophis

alex017, what's going on in Turkey in Alanya? We already have crickets, lots of erect-winged larvae, a scolopendra under every rock, and lots of crickets, and this is our country, or Turkey, which is supposed to be a month ahead of everything. You need to search, find areas of virgin land, and climb there. In general, of course, this is the case, so to come to another country, especially to the kurortny city, and in order to properly explore everything, you need to use transport, and then you don't know where to go or what to ask smile.gif

10.05.2011 8:54, alex017

This is a complete kick-ass, there is nothing to do at all. Yesterday was so that today the legs are wooden. I couldn't even find the locusts that I caught, probably they were just migratory, accidentally caught.
It's empty under the rocks, and crabs are used for beer.
I listened to the "well-wishers" and did not take fishing gear, so at least there would be some occupation. I think it is necessary to catch on the bank, so again some crabs will catch....
It's quiet here, no one's singing. On the outskirts of the city, frogs croak in a ditch. There are also small lizards, sparrows, and swifts.
Of course, I will never go to these places again!

10.05.2011 9:01, Hierophis

And what was the tackle dissuaded from taking? Although, I think that hardly anything would be caught from the shore to the sea.
Are crabs different or the same species?

10.05.2011 13:57, Bad Den

There are also small lizards, sparrows, and swifts.

These are definitely insectivores. So you are looking badly tongue.gif smile.giffor

10.05.2011 14:22, alex017

Locals catch fish from the shore. And on the sandy beaches and from the rocks they fish, they catch all sorts of shelupon, within 20 cm of the length, I would sit there for the sake of pure fishing, then I gave the caught fish to the locals.
I don't know much about crab species. Dark, terribly strong.
Lizards can eat ants, flies, and small grasshoppers. Some feeling that I'm doing something wrong or looking for the wrong place is constantly present, but I catch something I can say from birth, it can't be that there were animals, and I didn't notice it!!
Last night I saw Mashina, she was carrying sprayers, you know how they show in the movies, so that's how they crush insects with chemicals. The car was delivering poison to homes. But again, in the city-it is clear, and in the mountains who sprays?

10.05.2011 15:12, Bad Den

Maybe then even further into the mountains to climb?

10.05.2011 18:44, alex017

You can.... Only one point to climb far. Still, crime is also rampant here.

10.05.2011 23:30, alex017

Crickets were discovered today. They are not found on the entire coast. Some hotels also sing in the bushes. Probably some bad pickle their territory.

11.05.2011 7:02, taler

this is the Mediterranean region.which is not particularly abundant.you need to know the places ,of course. don't be afraid to climb the mountains.

11.05.2011 8:45, alex017

There would be a fellow traveler or ak I would be useful))
Yes, I already went a long way away, it's no better there.

11.05.2011 17:15, taler

it's definitely better there.spring has arrived in the mountains.I'm about 700-800km from the border with Turkey.at an altitude of 1200-1300m.n.m. abundance of insects

11.05.2011 19:14, Frantic

This year, spring arrived in Turku later than usual. And somehow strange, with a shift in the flowering and exit of insects. In Fethiye, we managed to get quite a lot of material, especially on Karabida and Khrushchev. At the same time, an almost complete failure on barbels.

11.05.2011 22:22, alex017

Today I found a lot of horse anemones on the rocks and hermit crabs. At least something lucky!

11.05.2011 22:32, Николаевич

This is a complete kick-ass, there is nothing to do at all.

Why not learn to swim - you're at sea. With such an interest in wildlife, it really limits the world...
Try to find out the local fish market, look for fishermen.. the Turks are a sympathetic people. There are also those who understand Russian.

12.05.2011 8:51, alex017

The weather has turned bad, there is a storm at sea, it's raining outside, the sky is covered with black clouds, it's getting colder.
I can't learn to swim for some reason..... (((

I tried to communicate with local fishermen who are sitting on the shore - they don't know Russian. There is no market here, but there may be one in Alanya. We need to ask the guide.

13.05.2011 12:54, alex017

There are no fish markets nearby, only in Istanbul.

13.05.2011 19:17, alex017

Today, grasshopper larvae were found in large numbers on the seashore in the grass. Hence the conclusion: I came to Turkey too early, the summer was very late. The adult insects I'd seen before were stray. I think I caught a male locust today. I didn't catch any larvae. I'll come and post pictures.

21.05.2011 20:38, alex017

I brought home only this beast. I assume that this is a migratory locust. She's too good at flying. I have already laid two eggs on the wall of the cage.

This is an Egyptian filly (Anacridium aegyptium)

22.05.2011 17:44, alex017

Thanks!
And how do you describe it?
Now she made two clutches and died. Is this normal?

22.05.2011 19:45, taler

Yeah. That's right.
absolutely harmless.I feed them to chamelions

25.05.2011 20:15, alex017

The animal shows that it is harmless.
And how to hatch from eggs?
