Ahhh, I understand what kind of cartridges you are talking about! Thanks! I wouldn't dry the butterflies anyway, just for the sake of fishing.
Next time I'll try to get a lum launcher.lamps powered by 12V, buy a T5 lamp for a UV sterilizer, fish for a combination of a simple lumen and this UV lamp.
How do you like the idea? Or is it not worth trying?

A normal combination. By the way: I recommend paying attention to car fluorescent carriers (they are already on 12V by default and the tube is standard there). Type this or similar.

Note: such lamps 9w only without a starter (4 pins) are in the lamps illuminating the interior of minibuses "Gazelle", "Bull", etc .On 12v these lamps (the start scheme is built into them)smile.gif.

Will 9W be enough? Not too little?
And then how to cling to the accumulators? Directly or through some kind of converter that would keep the voltage exactly 12V?

So not alone. But as with the converter, I do not know-I have not tried it, although I have 3 pieces of these from the" Bull " lying around since time immemorial confused.gif

I'm thinking of trying to build an assembly of 4x18650, then look for some stabilizer type driver for sd, only to keep the voltage of 12V.

04.05.2012 19:43, vasiliy-feoktistov

I'm thinking of trying to build an assembly of 4x18650, then look for some kind of stabilizer like a driver for sd, just so that the voltage is 12V kept.

If I were you, I would use a 12 Ah UPS battery for this purpose by type this. Although it weighs about four kilos, it will hold the load well as it was originally designed to work with an inverter.

04.05.2012 20:25, alex017

In the case of a lithium prefabricated battery, 1Ah weighs about 33g, and in the case of nickel-300g, i.e. it is 10 times more profitable to use lithium batteries.

Then follow the prices. 4 lithium batteries 5300mAh cost 430rub, i.e. 81r/ah (including delivery).
Lead - 83r/ah (I haven't taken delivery into account yet).

Maybe something is wrong, but the mass is too obvious superiority of lithium.......

Is the grid made of plastic? Not chewed through? Cockroaches can't be kept that way, they chew through the net and run away.

05.05.2012 14:13, alex017

The grid is made of plastic. But here to gnaw through such..... thickness 1.5 mm! Previously, I kept it with a window grid. Danmar has a window grid and does not seem to gnaw. It's not like spiders....
Yes, and they have nowhere to run beyond the window, and there is also a grid.

The trip was postponed for several days, to May 11. Due to the holidays, the tour operator sold too many vouchers, more than hotel seats. As a result, he made a huge profit, and those who bought a ticket for six months received a shift in the departure time!

If you haven't chosen a tour operator yet, DON'T choose Coral, Sanmar and Anex, which are actually the same company. In our small tour agency, this is the third time that there is an overlap with the deadlines or the selected hotel from the Coral operator.
Be careful!

07.05.2012 18:37, alex017

I didn't have time to make a net, and it was almost impossible to catch without it the previous times, because all grasshoppers and acrids fly too well, agility, vigilance, reaction speed are much higher than local specimens, which I always caught with my hands.
And thanks to oblom with sending on May 7, I still bought a podsak and sewed a net.
the handle had to be modified with a hacksaw to fit into the suitcase.
The fabric, however, is a weird lining, but I didn't find another one in the city, so I had to take what I had.

How are the orthopters? The Dreamaducini tribe should be very diverse there, and meet often!

Blacksmiths hatched everywhere and in large numbers, nothing interesting yet met, except for a small scorpion, but did not take it, because what to feed it....
I managed not to smear a small piece of skin on my back with cream, as a result, the temper knocked out a decent one, today the day will be lost, since there are still 10 of them ahead.

Here I managed to get to the sea successfully at low tide. I found 5 sea urchins, I was able to pick three of them out of the place where they were sitting, and I moved them to a closed, wave-washed space....if only they didn't run away before leaving, and then the storm started, I didn't even take a photo((

Here's a little animal I took a picture of the other day. The camera was in my backpack, so I can use my phone, but I can insert it here.
IMAG0013.jpg

Today I caught 4 animals. I thought about going out to catch sea urchins, but I was afraid that my back would burn completely, so I went to look for insects.
Went a little further than the Jacket, at the very side of the road caught these:
IMAG0016_1.jpg
Then I found a small piece of meadow, I walked it up and down, found something that looked like a dybka:

And then this I don't know what:

I apologize for the quality of the photo, the room is too dark for the phone, and when I caught it , I didn't have time to take a photo.

I'll probably let the small ones go, leaving Tettigonia with a female and a male. I'll catch a couple more before I leave, if I'm lucky. They sit together, the female has not yet devoured the male, which is very pleasing.
Some unhealthy stuff.: it is only necessary to pick up these animals, they look around, begin to stretch their whiskers to their heads and jump. I didn't expect such a trick. What interesting things they found on the face is not clear.
Jump and fly weakly.

25.05.2012 17:59, DanMar

So they lived in tettigonia everywhere: and you should have the same living conditions in your homeland.

cf. - from the Latin conformis-similar, similar. This is usually written when the exact definition is impossible, but it is clear that this is "something close".

So they lived in tettigonia everywhere: and you should have the same living conditions in your homeland.

Optional - there are several species in the Southern Mediterranean that are very similar to viridissima.

Yes, we have them. But I want overseas! Moreover, they are twice as large, especially females!

I was also interested in their behavior.
And the male is still alive, and the locals would have eaten it long ago.

Interestingly, yes, I looked at photos of these species and visually they are very similar to Viridissimus. BUT still the gender is the same and as I thought there will be no difference. About the fact that they are twice as large as the local ones, how is it if the female viridissima is for example 4 cm in length, then these are 8?? With wings then it will be 12, no, it's not possible, I don't believe it!

26.05.2012 19:22, alex017

I came from hunting. Caught a female and a male grasshopper, pretended to be a plant, spreading their paws in different directions, slow, did not resist at all, slid from the grass to the hand, but small in size, a couple of cm body.
I'll post a photo later.

As for the size of the tettigonia, I will definitely attach a ruler and write it down. Well, two times-this is me on the eye, I apologize if I misled you.

I went to the tettigonias in the jar, and they decided to mate. The measurements failed. But I took about 2 minutes of porn.

picture: P5262314_1.jpgP5262312_1.jpg

Here's a blacksmith who pretended to be a plant. The female managed to break her leg in a spacious jar. How do they live?! Hurtful... You can't find the second one. To find this one, I crawled around the clearing for two hours.

The size of the female tettigonia with wings is 7.5 cm, the male is 5.5 cm.

There's both a female and a male of the same species, or was I mistaken?

27.05.2012 21:37, DanMar

I think so. Indeed, 7.5 cm is cool, but still our up to 6cm (sometimes even more) hold out, so there are clearly no two times cool.gif. In the last photo, some kind of decticus, clearly albifrons, penultimate stage, male, by the way, an interesting rounded pronotum as for them yes.gif. Imho, you need to search and climb more, and there will be clearly more and more interesting animals, I guarantee it. For example, I found a lot about awesome dreamaduzas (fseh from the tribe), about fat people, and you can probably catch a folidopter and a dybok without leaving the ticket office at all.

I meant that the grasshoppers that are photographed on the hand are the same type, but in the upper photo - a female, and in the one that is lower-a male.

As for the presence of grasshoppers, I have practically crawled on my knees through all the glades, there is nothing else. The last time I decided to take a closer look, I even found ticks.
Well, the longer you are familiar with the area, the more it is located...

Further to Mahmutlar on the d400 highway there is a mountainous area, the mountains reach the sea. You need to look for someone on the plains, and my main goal was to bring some of the local rocks to the aquarium, which may not be available in other places.
If there is a next time , then-in Side, if in Turkey, or India.

Thank you all for participating!
I'll see an orthoptera at home....with English and even from the phone....very difficult((

Yes, I didn't take a good look at the second photo, there is, of course, the same acrometope, but a male. By the way, in the adult stage, this genus is distinguished by an unusual sexual dimorphism for Palearctic blacksmiths - males are bright green, fly perfectly (they can take off even without jumping), while females have very short hind wings, oval elytra, and a different color. It is very interesting to watch them - the female usually sits on the top of a plant, males flock to her and start chirping, and the female responds to them smile.gif

Standard behavior. We have similar blacksmiths climb the tallest trees and sing on them. Due to the height, they sometimes survive until the last days of October, unless of course there were serious frosts. I like them very much, but they devour each other mercilessly, especially when mating.

The male is already missing half his whisker. I'll try to find more..... but it's already unlikely.

So, a short report about the trip.

The cicadas were not caught. They have already appeared, but still in very small numbers, which is probably due to the cool and rainy weather in Turkey this May. Even on the way home, I was caught in a thunderstorm and the flight was slightly postponed.

When traveling to Turkey in order to get insects, it is advisable to bring with you tick protection, a pre-made vaccination against encephalitis, antibiotics (from encephalitis will not help, but from another infection - quite).
I've been lying around for 2 days with a temperature of 40. From what - it is not clear, at first I thought-a cold. My head ached terribly, my appetite was completely gone, I felt sick at the sight of food, affigenic weakness. After a few days of taking antibiotics (ciprofloxocin+biseptol) it's gone. And just before leaving, I found a tick stuck in the left loaf, or rather part of it, which barely held on and was easily removed with tweezers.

The tettigonians got there perfectly (by the way, they can take off without jumping and fly across the room!), but I lost the male acrometope. Absolutely undamaged, he was found dead after being transported. The female is fine. Just an indescribable pity!!!
Sea urchins arrived from 5 pcs - only 4, another one died in the aquarium.
The smallest of them died (2-3cm in diameter with needles), and it was they who were traveling in the best conditions in a jar of water in hand luggage (fig knows how I was able to pass all the checks). The rest were several times larger (about 5-6cm in diameter with needles).
Hermit crabs and snails arrived without loss.

I also took cuttings of various plants with me, dug up three bananas, and some Washingtonias.

And at home, while I was away, the honeysuckle bloomed! I go home, and the smell is like in Turkey)) Type and did not leave!

I decided to dilute the text with a small number of photos. I'm not much of a photographer....

super, thanks for the photo! Only this is not a male Tylopsis lilifolia, look a little higher at your own photos (post #160, T. lilifolia above this green-brown-white grasshopper, which I could only determine up to the tribe). A cockroach, I think, Periplaneta americana, the lower unknown grasshopper with a black stripe is a female nymph of some Conocephalus sp., the upper one is a locust larva from Catantopinae, most likely the same Egyptian filly. By the way, about the last one's clutches - did you see how she laid them?

Interesting shape of the turtle shell on the back, never seen such. Kuznetsov try to hold a little, if possible, I wonder, at least, how long they will live.

Thanks!
I stared long and hard at the photo. Sort of like the Tylopsis lilifolia in post #160 looks a lot like the male Acrometopa. Although the quality of the photo does not allow you to determine, but the striped blacksmith is really something else. Perhaps it still remains wingless. It will be necessary to search on the website of orthoptera....
The female filly was sitting next to him, right under her was this clutch. And most importantly, last year she made exactly the same clutches all over the bank.
The shape of the turtle shell behind turned out after 101 collisions with vehicles))
Obecherepakhi I came across on the road, and the one in the photo - at the federalnaya D400.
I'll hold the Kuznetsovs for as long as they live. It can even breed udassa.
I can't finish the Terrchik just yet...

Well, all Palearctic winged phaneropterins are more or less similar to each other smile.gifIn your photo tilopsis is not yet an imago, which have as long wings as adult male acrometops.
