So
1. The entire flood is selected and moved to A conversation, because it does not deserve to be on the entomological forum.
2. From now on, empty conversations about any religion or atheism will be removed, and provocateurs will be restricted in their rights on the forum.

Not bad, considering the specifics of those places. My wife and I never set foot in Sri Lanka again. In the fall, I almost got caught (at the hotel, when I was collecting beetles), tired of firebrands and stupid greyhound islanders, just waiting for something to catch you on. And this applies primarily to Buddhists. Muslims and Catholics (there are few of them, but there are some) are much more adequate. All the more offensive because the nature there is wonderful.

This is true. The population density is very high, there is not a lot of work, and the natural island laziness is also present. So the natives go everywhere in large numbers and watch the tourists, how to cut more money from them, and entomologists are generally a tasty morsel. For this reason, it was impossible to catch at night, but it's a pity!
By the way, Sergey, thank you for the information on the island, it was useful on this trip, especially about the fight against blood-sucking leeches.

At the request of my fellow forum members, I present to you a short report on a trip to Sri Lanka in early March this year, in the company of herpetologists and underwater hunters. I will immediately make a reservation that we did not manage to collect many beetles. First of all, I attribute this to the fact that it was very dry, according to local residents, there was not a drop of rain for a month and a half. In addition, we lived on the southern coast of the ocean, in a fairly densely populated area (Southern Province, Matara district, Mirissa.), although the local population was more or less tolerant of white people in trousers tucked into high boots and with lanterns on their foreheads, wandering in the vicinity of their home on a dark evening, constant questions about the purpose of our classes strained and forced us to be on the lookout (which other forum members also warned about in advance).
Evening outings in Mirissa and the surrounding area (it gets dark at 6 pm) gave a little: a few crunches, black-heifers, small leaf-eaters-alticines, nutcrackers, rogachik Aegus chelifer ? kandiensis Hope & Westwood, 1845, Pheropsophus bombardiers, aquariums, and giant fireflies in the larval stage.
The light of the lantern on the porch of our house flew a lot of small things, including small snappers and also quite large snappers Lanelater ? fuscipes (Fabricius, 1775), narrow wings, tiny barbel, small fireflies, and all sorts of other things for which I had to compete with a herd of geckos that also hunted under a lamp. But in principle, around the lights in the coastal area was empty. Once we met the remains of not very large rhinos, but we couldn't find any live beetles.

A trip to the Sinharaja rainforest (Sabaragamuwa Prov., Ratnapura dist., Sinharaja Res.) basically met my expectations, but I would like more. It was very dry, so at least to look at the notorious ground leeches, I had to ask one of our friends, who was wearing open shoes (!), to wander on the grass: the result is 3 pieces... ))) Collecting beetles was also quite difficult, while part of our crowd was leading the guide away and obscuring us, I and two of my herpetologist friends were lagging behind and wooling the area out of sight of the guide. But it couldn't last long, as the guide would stop and start waiting for us...
This trip resulted in large passalids, a single bronze Taeniodera quadrivittata (Schaum, 1848), several crustaceans, leaf-eaters, mold-eaters, black-bodied beetles, rather large rhynchitids Rhynchophorus ferrugineus (Olivier, 1790), and pinworms from the genus Orectochilus.
The only large barbel is Coptops sp. we managed to accidentally find a check-point in the Yala Nature Reserve (Hambantota dist., Yala National Park), where we did not get out of jeeps…

The full 4-part photo report of the trip is available in my contacts, where everyone can view it.:

Unfortunately, there are no photos in nature from Nepal. After analyzing the material, it will be clear how many species were caught and from which groups.

Well, why fashionable. Maybe just enough for a whale, but not enough for a macro lens, in the long run. This is an expensive pleasure, alas.

I haven't determined it yet. shuffle.gif If there is a time, I will determine it.
It is suspected that the orange ones are Ampittia dioscorides efura
and in the upper right corner Spialia galba

I propose a report on Central and Southern Nepal (Kathmandu-Nagarkot-Chitwan-Lumbini-Pokhara-Sarangkot-Dulikel) 02-20 July 2010. Despite the monsoon weather and the catch was satisfied, some hawk moth caught approx. forty species. There were also enough beetles, but only 3 types of barbels in 3 weeks! Diaries flew a lot, though mostly the standard set (same as Thailand) and whipping to a fig. Therefore, the emphasis was on night fishing. I took a mercury-tungsten 250-watt lamp with me, usually connected from the hotel via an extension cable. In Nagarkot (h 2100) and Dulikel (h1900), it was generally awesome, since the hotels were on the tops of hills (I specifically chose to have a better view on the advice of Ivy I. G.). I also visited Chitwan National Park, the heat there was terrible, though I caught it without problems with the locals (even helped smile.gif). In addition to butterflies, there are also a lot of exotic animals: crocodiles, rhinos and other local animals smile.gif. I took out everything (35 mattresses) without problems in the luggage compartment, spent in Kiev at the airport waiting for luggage with an enchanted look, I was afraid, and suddenly it wouldn't fly smile.gifP.S. Sorry, if I put something wrong, bo I report on fishing for the first time, God forbid not the last shuffle.gif
