Cute night butterfly. Notodontidae, I believe.
Move the photo here: http://molbiol.ru/forums/index.php?showtopic=133596&st=31050 - it is likely that the specialists will determine more precisely.

Thanks for the reply. I reposted it there. smile.gif I can see its wings, of course, but I'd never think of calling it a butterfly.

Today I found marbles on a dead pine tree. It seems to be someone's cocoons. Please tell me whose they are. Some of them were already opened, but I found one intact. When I opened it, there was a small white maggot in the shape of a worm. Alas, when I transplanted it to the trunk, it crawled a little, and then fell to the ground, where I could not find it, because it is very small - a millimeter and a half or two long. The balls themselves are about half a centimeter in size.

These are the remains of female coccids, apparently from the Kermesidae family. It is very similar in shape and color to Kermes roboris, but they do not live on pine trees. What kind of worm-like larva could be there, we can only guess, maybe some parasitoid, or maybe just by chance someone found such a winter shelter for themselves.

Thank you. Big. They must be there. I might have been mistaken about the tree's appearance.

The pupae of freckles, and even their larvae, always have the rudiments of wings, don't you think?

That's the one! larva of Microdon sp.

Tell me, please, if there is somewhere on the Internet to see what is inside at this time of year (early April) in this larva. I took home another larva of the same type (puparium ?). I think whether to wait for the appearance of a murmur or cut it carefully and see what's inside yourself. Suddenly there is an interesting pupa.
P.S. It is slow, but crawling. Let it continue to develop.
