I can't agree. About dubia it is written "Base du pronotum non rebordee" i.e. at all.
"in vitis, the pronotum is completely bordered posteriorly" is not written. It says " more or less bordered on each side." You can't rely on the color, I agree, but the green square patch around the shield on a yellow background is very characteristic of vitis. And other unconvincing features, such as a broad, short body, a yellow platypus with a green pronotum, wrinkled gaps in the elytra, and the occasional presence of a female vitis in front of the eyes, make me reject the idea of dubia. smile.gif

Some kind of male Harpalus ?

Mongolia: Ulaanbaatar, Shadivlan, 2. VII. 2008, leg. N. Tungalag

Yes, Harpalus. I didn't recognize him at first. Write all the same size, it is extremely usefulsmile.gif 11-12mm?
The idea finally took shape, I suggest H. obtusus Gebl. They often remain undecorated, usually bluish-brown. I have a couple from Ulaanbaatar. Aedeagus '"button" is similar. There is even a blown endophallus (there are a lot of bubbles in different directions), but I'm afraid that in the case of your copy, it will not be easy to blow it out. And so doubts could disappear.

Thank you. I'll check it out...

Harpalus - which is now Harpalus (s. str.) amputatus obtusus (Gebler, 1833) ?

Sorry - difficulties translating from German. Of course, vitis-dubia is not completely bordered, and vitis is not bordered in the middle. That's how it should be understood.

Anomala dubia : Die Halsschildbasis ist völlig ungerandet, während bei der verwandten und etwas größeren Art Anomala vitis die Halsschildbasis nur in der Mitte ungerandet ist.

This is Anomala vitis

Gentlemen entomologists, I ask you to help in identifying this black body. Unfortunately, the place of collection is not known, as the material is mixed up. There are two options: either this is a Russian species (USSR), or a beetle from Senegal. The drawing is typical, so anyone who knows it will know.

Hello everyone. Recently I asked myself this question-what kind of beauty is this in my collection? I once thought it was a variation of the inquisitor, but it's too much like the odorous one... But then who is it-a subspecies of odorous, similar to turektsich, or a rare color variation? (I did see it once). Caught in the first decade of May in Zheleznovodsk, Stavropol Territory, forest park. For comparison, on the right - the usual odorous.
If it is not clear from the photo-the beetle is black, with a slight bronze tint, without golden or other dots. The bottom is also black.
