1. Orchestes testaceus
2. Crepidodera (= Chalcoides) fulvicornis

20.04.2017 22:32, Gans75

Ukraine, Rivne region, March 14.
The size is about 4 mm. Two white spots in the back of the elytra.
From the photos on the Internet, it looks like Dorytomus, but I don't remember willows and poplars nearby. Aspens - 100 meters from Nakhodka. True, the wind was strong - it could bring.
Dorytomus dejeani ?

Please tell me what kind of bug it is. About three millimeters in size. Found under the bark of a pine tree. Moscow region, 214.04.2017 Similar in shape to Monotomidae, but those seem to have different antennae.

What about the beetle??? According to the photo-it is difficult, according to the beetle it is easier... If there is an indentation on the anal sternum (abdomen) - nitidulus...
You can try it for ecology reasons - nitidulus, s usually sit in the passages of arboreal trees, dispar, s - under the bark

nitidulus has a rather distinctive front tibia - the outer edge at the apex is strongly drawn in the form of a prong. If there is a bug, then take a look. But if in shamanic terms, then it looks more like a dispar smile.gif

Thank you. There is a side view. I don't think there's a prong on the shin. It turns out that dispar.

I can't see anything. Here's a picture of what it should look like: http://www.coleo-net.de/coleo/texte/rhizophagus.htm And what kind of tree was it and in what condition? As Elizar said, they differ quite well ecologically - nitidulus is associated with settlements of woodworms (i.e., on dying or freshly dead trees, here I only came across it on birches), and dispar is common under the lagging bark at later stages of wood decomposition, lives on everything in a row.
Staphylinids are about the same size? Like Sepedophilus a la testaceus (testaceus/marshami / constans). This is not an easy group, although if you have comparative material, you can figure it out. But hardly anyone can tell from the photo.
