Where did the name Ochlodes similis (Leech, 1893) come from ?
If Ochlodes venata is meant, then, as far as I understand, it is a Far Eastern species and it is not found in the MA.
And there is Ochlodes faunus (Turati, 1905). aka Ochlodes sylvanus.

I was also surprised by this at the time confused.gif. But I didn't get it from the ceiling. According to Yu. P. Korshunov, the Far Eastern species you are talking about is called Ochlodes venata (Bremer et Grey, 1853), and the one shown in the above photographs is called Ochlodes similis (Leech, 1893), while faunus (Turati,1905) is listed as a European subspecies of Ochlodes similis (Leech, 1905). 1893). Here is such a confusion. Where Korshunov got it, I don't know. I also remember that this fathead was always called faunus smile.gif

This is also a lineola.
I agree with Vabrus about all the others defined as "presumably lineola" - lineola they are.

And there doesn't seem to be any confusion anymore smile.gif. There is an official decision of the International Commission of Zoological Nomenclature that the Eurasian species is called Ochlodes sylvanus (junior synonyms: faunus, similis, etc., these are enough rolleyes.gif)

Here is the article: ICZN, 2000. Opinion 1944: Papilio sylvanus Esper, 1777 (currently known as Ochlodes sylvanus or O. venatus faunus; Insecta, Lepidoptera: specific name conserved. Bulletin of Zoological Nomenclature 57: 56-57.
