7. not grandis

23.02.2008 20:50, guest: Andy

I think it's A. grandis. There is no mistaking it: only A. isosceles is similar in color, but it has green eyes and blackish wing veins. Yes, and isosceles is usually found in more southern areas.

Another female Calopteryx from the vicinity of Sochi, 1st decade of August. Caught on the bank of a forest stream in the Akhuna district. The male was not caught. Can someone tell me what kind of view?

Similar to female Calopteryx virgo festiva, Caucasian subspecies of beauty-devushki

26.02.2008 0:02, Archypus

Thank you very much. The only thing I could use was
"Fauna and ecology of dragonflies" / [B. F. Belyshev, A. Yu. Kharitonov, S. N. Borisov, etc.] From the tables given there, it was clear that this is something from the virgo-splendens pair, but nothing more.
Kh. A. Ketenchiev, A. Yu. Kharitonov, Kabardino-Balkar State University named after Kh. M. Berbekov, Russian Academy of Sciences, Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Can someone advise you where you can find a manual (or an electronic copy) of this manual: Determinant of dragonflies of the Caucasus : [Textbook] / Kh. A. Ketenchiev, A. Yu. Kharitonov ; Kabardino-Balkar State University named after Kh. M. Hemianax ephippiger is a southern species, extending north to the Ciscaucasia. Three years ago, I also observed a mass crepuscular flight of this species and Anax parthenope near Tuapse...

Dear dragonfly experts, can you help me identify the insect?

01.09.2007, Republic of Tatarstan, Nizhnyaya Kama National Park. A dragonfly is quite rare here, at least I've only seen it a few times.

I think this is a female Aeschna coerulea (the defining feature is a narrow, sinuous first lateral breast band)

to Elena_M, about Calopteryx virgo (Linnaeus, 1758)
Only Calopteryx splendens is known from the Novosibirsk region. There are also Calopteryx japonica altaica Belyshev in the Altai and Kuzbass regions. A new species is highly doubtful. smile.gif But if you find Calopteryx virgo - it would be great, from Siberia it is reliably known only from Tomsk.

And also locally in the south of the Tyumen region wink.gif

Personal data? wink.gif Where, when and who caught it? A photo or scan of the instance?

Maybe, with a slight delaysmile.gif, I give a quote from the Red Book of the Tyumen region:

I decided to find out who is flying here.

30.08.2008 14:41, Елена М

And correctly. smile.gif Sympetrum pedemontanum (bandaged sympetrum) and Sympecma paedisca ( brown dragonfly) - dragonflies in the Moscow region are not the most common.

And can I also ask around, who is it at my dacha flew? In my Chaynikovsky opinion, it looks like a dragonfly, but at the same time everything is black with a blue tint, and it waved its wings like a butterfly, sometimes soared. Very curious

Please help us identify two dragonflies that were captured in the Moscow region in mid-September. Under No. 1 I suspect Sympetrum danae, but there may be some other one in the autumn color.
No. 2 is similar to Sympetrum pedemontanum, but it is not yellow, but mostly red. In general, I'm in doubt, please help.
