Hello friend!Tell me, where do you show up?

24.08.2006 17:13, Охотник за осами

I see you are a fan of the hornets since you have vespa belikozus

At the expense of the topic - if the topic interests me , I participate in it. As for hornets , you are right, I am primarily interested in hornets , as well as Vespula and Dolichovespula - for two reasons : first , they are the most common in our area, and secondly, they are the most interesting group in observation and biology. But I also deal with other vespids - polistae, polybium, stenogastrinae, etc. It is a pity that only one species is represented in my republic - V. crabro. In the Russian Far East from China comes 6 more species - it would be necessary to go there, since you only need a train ticket and payment for accommodation.

Look, I've never seen a real hornet before in my life,we just don't have any!

Interesting. We have them everywhere in Russia-only their numbers are different everywhere. Once I saw a female hornet even in the center of Moscow - in Ostankino Park. And they are especially numerous in Tatarstan - in the forest near my village with an area of about 300 hectares, I found several dozen nests in some years. Although there are a lot of insects - potential prey - there, since the nearest major city - Ulyanovsk - is 80 kilometers away. And many people keep bees there. I think you should also meet them in the forest zone anyway.

I always hunt in the forest area, but I have never met them, but I remember one case, at the dacha, a huge red wasp flew in the room, but it was slapped, and I have never seen such things again

by the way, Saxon birds are active in their malice,I remember about four years ago, I found a large Saxon nest, two working honeycombs and one uterine and one drone, in these uterine and drone cells there were more than 200 cells in each! Saxonikin the chase is far presled but not active

Dolichovespula OS always has only one worker cell. Usually so: sometimes the second tier with small cells and on the sides-large uterine. Usually small ones belong to males and occasionally to worker wasps. Most likely, in your case it was.
