Dear Ruslan, it seems that you uploaded the wrong photo to Acmaeops septentrionis...

03.12.2007 0:46, RippeR

I wonder what kind of septentrionis.. I've never heard of it.". Where does he run, who does he eat, etc.?

03.12.2007 10:14, Victor Titov

It seems to me that this is not Acmaeops septentrionis, but Anoplodera rufipes.

Yes, I myself was not 100% sure that it was Acmaeops septentrionis. confused.gif
Black legs and black underparts are introduced, unlike Anoplodera rufipes.
But according to this link http://www.cerambyx.uochb.cz/ very similar. And the legs are black and the body is a "coffin"..
If anything, an adjustment to the definition can always be made

Here, by the way, is an image of Acmaeops septentrionis - http://www.zin.ru/animalia/coleoptera/rus/acmsepob.htm
And here is Anoplodera rufipes: http://www.zin.ru/animalia/coleoptera/rus/ano_ruf.htm
Compare it...

03.12.2007 15:04, Victor Titov

Anoplodera rufipes has several forms, including black-legged specimens. Besides, I thought your beetle had light front legs.

Khara-Daban is Buryatia. As for the rest, it is better not to draw final conclusions from the photo. I can send Zhukov over if necessary. But I won't argue too much either, because all my b.m. unusual "variabilis" are now with you smile.gif. The shape of the segments - alas, varies greatly in all other beetles of this group. This can be seen even on the limited material that I have. If there is at least one breiti left in Zina , I will try to look at the genitals.
In general, for a normal revision, you just need to get the holotype of breiti and its variants. Ask Danilevsky, he is on good terms with Lingafelter, I think he will send it.

breiti in ZINA of course remained, but the genitals look probably useless. The shape of parameres and aedeagus varies greatly, and there are no clear differences between "breiti", "variabilis", or "striolata". All of them are of the same type... And the "signs" depicted in the article by Chernyshev and Dubatolov on the interrogationis group are doubtful, it seems that these are most likely individual differences between different specimens. Looks like genitals aren't going to help anyone here. I also don't have any hopes for endophallus, vedb is obviously a vicar form, and there are almost no differences in such cases, right? What would be the difference, it should be at least different groups of species? Not close, barely distinguishable allopatric forms...
There is no special need to study the holotype yet... From the type locality there are series, and there are beetles with black, striped, and brown elytra, in general, according to the characteristics - the same Khara-Daban. It still wouldn't solve the immediate problems right now... But thank you for your advice smile.gif

And this Dokhturovia nebulosa is also a" flower " barbel? And develops in what?

25.12.2007 12:48, Mylabris

Larvae of this species develop mainly in the wet parts of the trunk, in the roots and root legs of Tien Shan spruce and Siberian fir. First, they develop under the bark, and then move to the lower part of the trunk and root legs. Very wet wood is not a hindrance to this barbel, this species is a permanent settler of injured areas of the lower part of the tree trunk, which are always present in the stands of steep slopes of the Tien Shan due to frequent landslides, landslides, etc.

A couple of undeservedly missed Lepturini:

BLACKFOOT LEPTURA
Lepturalia nigripes (De Geer, 1775)

14-20 mm. The elytra of both sexes are ochreous, unicolored; unlike other large leptures, their apices are rounded rather than cut off. Pronotum bell-shaped, with sharp posterior angles. A Eurasian species native to the forest and forest-steppe zones. Beetles are found from late June to late August, mainly on flowers. The larvae live in the branches and trunks of drying deciduous trees, pupating after two or three wintering seasons.

Middle Urals, near Kuzino station (90 km west of Yekaterinburg), a mountain dark coniferous forest of the southern taiga type with an admixture of linden and elm, about 400 m above sea level, on the inflorescences of angelica, July 30-31, 2008.

picture: DSC_1057.jpg

LEPTURA VARIEGATED
Stictoleptura variicornis (Dalman, 1817)

15-22 mm. Antennae are black with contrasting light inserts on 4-6 and 8 segments. Pronotum with deep wrinkles and light hairs. Elytra are ochreous, rarely ochreous-red, without a pattern. A Eurasian species peculiar to the forest zone. Beetles are found in July and August. The larvae live in old shrunken trees and stumps, both deciduous and coniferous.

Middle Urals, near Kuzino station (90 km west of Yekaterinburg), a mountain dark coniferous forest of the southern taiga type with an admixture of linden and elm, about 400 m above sea level, on the inflorescences of angelica, July 30-31, 2008.

Yes, you're right, I'm sorry. I'll fix it now.

By the way, dear Rpanin, to what extent do you, as the author of the topic, want to see Leptrurinae? In the broad (sensu Tscherepanov, etc.), including ragiev, pahit..., or narrower, within Lepturini sensu Tscherepanov (1979)?

A good example. Just remove it from the title "Brachyta variabilis Gebl., 1817", and rename this topic to Lepturini...

PAKHITA SPRUCE
Pachyta lamed (Linnaeus, 1758)

12-20 mm. Morphologically, it is very close to the previous species, differing in color and pronounced sexual dimorphism. The elytra of males are unicolored, brownish-red, while those of females are ochreous with an oblique, indistinct dark band in the anterior half and a large elongated blurred spot in the apical half. It is a rare species distributed in the taiga zone of Eurasia and North America. In the Middle Urals, it is celebrated in July and August in dark coniferous forests. Females lay their eggs on the thin roots of old drying fir trees. The larvae gnaw through passages in the roots, gradually moving from their tops to thicker bases, pupating in early summer, after two or three wintering periods.

Male: Middle Urals, near Kuzino station (90 km west of Yekaterinburg), mountain dark coniferous forest of southern taiga type with admixture of linden and elm, about 400 m above sea level, on inflorescences of angelica, July 30-31, 2008.

Everything, the barbels on umbrellas are fading away, the day before yesterday I met only one new one:

GREEN-HAIRED
Acmaeops smaragdula (Fabricius, 1792)

7-11 mm. The body is black with short thick greenish hairs. Pronotum with constrictions in the anterior part and at the base, in longer standing hairs. Inhabitant of the taiga regions of northern Eurasia. Beetles are found in July and August; they need to feed on flowers. Larvae gnaw holes in the bark of coniferous trees, without touching the wood. Before pupation, they fall out on the soil and are buried to a depth of several centimeters.
