Vasily, you've made a mistake yourself: the birchbark is Byctiscus betulae, and the poplar tree is Byctiscus populi. You have the opposite. Need to fix... shuffle.gif

There are rather 2 species here - the first one is marthae Rtt.,
and the second one-it is different from the rest of the population, but I refer it to tatarchani Rtt - it is slightly different from the rest of the representatives of this species, although it is known to have a high variablity

Displayed copy. assembled and bred from the chrysalis by Gennadich and kindly presented to me.

Oddly enough, I had never found this frachnik on my own before, but this year "how it broke through": the beetle turned out to be very common in wormwood (I then collected a series right in the city, next to my house).
Even strange: this year it came across much more often than always the usual L. iridis confused.gif

Do you need to post any angles of this top instance to verify the presence of elephas in the Krasnodar Territory?

These species are easily distinguished by their females (the female elephas has a longer head tube than the body, and the female venosus is noticeably shorter), they also differ in the shape of the elytra, and the elephas has thinner and longer legs. Perhaps a good sign - the prong on the rear thighs of the elephant is rectangular, as in the picture on the left - http://coleop123.narod.ru/key/curculioninae/Curculio11.html

Elefas should definitely be in Krasnodarsky because it is available in Adygea and Volgograd (old data).

From the posterolateral prong, it looks like an elefas after all:
picture: P1050164.JPG

If it is found in Adygea and Volgograd, then why is it not listed in the catalog for the fauna of the Russian Federation?

The prong is best viewed from the inside of the leg, because the bristles located on the hip and prong can interfere (I encountered this problem when I identified venosus/pellitus from YAO, 2 copies. initially identified (looking from the outside) as two species, then found out that one is venosus....

pellitus does not reach the nuclear power plant, but only Samara. By the way, pellitus is also omitted in the Palearctic Catalog)))
