They breed and reproduce. I hope to warm the souls of coleopterists with the following photos.
I suggest posting photos of other insects as well.
We pick it up. wink.gif

Zlatki generally pleased me. I collected it at the Red Lighthouse on the pine stumps, put it in a plastic box in a hurry, opened it later, and they were playing leapfrog rolleyes.gif

I often have beetles in the stain matingsmile.gif, already used to it. And once elephants from Lixinae mated there and didn't want to die, so I let them out for it smile.gif. I felt sorry for Chet...

I once saw a picture on the evolution of mating postures in erect-winged birds = very interesting.... Then I saw her on the report, and they said something about her like Insect Kamasutra, which is right. smile.gif But now I can't find it, otherwise I would have copied it! No one knows where she came from?

The most fun part is when completely different species try to mate, or when another species tries to join the pair..

But the group sex with barbels, like Musolin's shuffle.gif rolleyes.gifweevils, was filmed in the Bastak Nature Reserve (35 kilometers north of Birobidzhan) in June of this year. I apologize for the not very good quality. By the way, can someone define this type? wink.gif

The most fun part is when completely different species try to mate

But it turns out that it happens that they not only try, but also copulate! Love is evil; -)
In the photo, the motley moth Zygaena filipendulae (Zygaenidae, Phrotogeterocera - lower motley moth) and the false moth Amata nigricornis (Arctiidae, Metegeterocera-higher motley moth).
It's a shame that I didn't have a camera handy when I found them (they were sitting on a blade of grass). I had to take it with me and then plant it on a leaf.
Taken on June 27, 2007 in Simferopol district, near the village of Krasnolesye.

eek.gifWell, it would be from the same family... Do you have any other similar ones? They didn't try to get eggs later, what if the caterpillars would hatch?

I didn't try to get eggs. In my opinion, if there were viable eggs, it would be from another male.
And at the expense of "similar" I don't quite understand what you mean. There are a few more pictures of the same couple, but they are all not very good quality because it was already dusk, and the technology of shooting with two sets of macro rings + Zenith lens + flash + raseivatel, which (technology) allows you to get photos of butterflies of excellent quality at night, at that time I had not yet been "invented. " Eh.. I would have taken them off much better now.
And other similar photos, in the sense of where different species mate, alas, I do not have. There are many photos where males and females of "their" species mate. Most of them are already on my site. If someone is interested, I can post here a list of available pairs/species, and if some photo on the "Butterflies of the Crimea"

It is very rare to see a copulating shovel. They don't fly into the light, but go find them in the dark... But there are still happy cases:

Similar - in the sense of photos of different species mating smile.gifAnd I would not release the female after such mating and tried to get eggs.

Different species - so that the male and female are different species lol.gif

I didn't let him out. So without uncoupling and dried.
There are no more photos of different species mating.
I've already said about butterfly photos, but I don't have many beetles, I've already posted a couple of slowies in the spring, and now I'm posting four more (all that is).:

Khrushchik-chanterelle Amphicoma vulpes-Dzhankoy district, Cape Bezymyanny;
shchitonoski(?) - The Kerch Peninsula, Prudnikovo village;
korovki (?) - Sovetsky district, Dmitrovka village;
and absolutely unknown to me red beetles-Yalta yayla, Kizil-Kaya rock.

By the way, can someone tell me the names?

No, it's not Dictyoptera aurora. This is Lygistopterus sanguineus (L., 1758)
