Even more spectacular is Gangarides vittipalpis Walker, 1869
point-see previous photo.
The distribution is already much wider-from the Himalayas to Hainan Island, Sunda Islands.
Highly variable. It has several twin types that differ in color details.

Some on the forum already know my weakness for green butterflies.
And there are quite a few of them among the crested women.

Benbowia camilla Schintlmeister, 1997
North Vietnam.
It is distributed in the Himalayas, southern China and Indochina Peninsula.
See also earlier B. virescens

Somera viridifusca viridifusca Walker, 1855
Male (above) - China, Hainan
Island Female - Northern Vietnam
Distribution-generally similar to the previous species.
Although there was already this butterfly in the form of a female in our gallery, it doesn't hurt to post a full-fledged pair.

There is also a bit of green in this lovely crested
Platychasma flavida Wu & Fang, 2003
China, Sichuan
Note the natural cut-outs of the costal edges of the forewings. A peculiar crested bird from the small subfamily Platychasminae, which recently migrated from the scoops to the crested birds. It is widely distributed, but locally in China.
From the same subfamily in our topic there is also the previously depicted Cyphanta chortochroa, which is completely green.

Shall we continue?"
I have long wanted to present in more or less detail the genus Stauropus Germar, 1812
, which is widely distributed in almost all of Eurasia. The most famous and widespread (from Britain to Japan) is our banal beech crested Stauropus Fagi Linnaeus, 1757. The butterfly is well known for its highly bizarre caterpillar appearance. However, all members of the genus have such caterpillars.
S. fagi fagi, S. fagi persimilis, S. basalis and S. alternus are already represented in our gallery.
Your attention is drawn to a few more types of these cute little tufts.

Stauropus sikkimensis Moore, 1865
China, Sichuan
Species found from the Himalayas to Southern China, in northern Indochina

Stauropus major Van Eecke, 1929

Island Distribution - Northeast and Southern India, Andaman Islands, South China, Indochina, islands of Indonesia and Palawan Island.

Schintlmeister also assigned members of the genus Benbowia Kiriakoff, 1967, to the genus Stauropus. The fact is that their caterpillars are the same as those of Stauropus. This is now a subgenus.
Since I have already shown benbovium separately in previous posts, I will put the 3 species together for comparison.
1 Stauropus (Benbowia) virescens Moore, 1879
Malaysia, North Borneo (distributed in the Himalayas, Southern China, Indochina and Sunda Islands)
2 Stauropus (Benbowia) camilla ssp. Schintlmeister, 1997
China, Sichuan (distributed in the Himalayas, southwestern and Southern China, Hainan Island, Indochina)
3 Stauropus (Benbowia) camilla Schintlmeister, 1997
Vietnam

Based on Schintlmeister's new book, Furcula bicuspis bicuspis is coming out!

My Schintlmeister book is still on the way, but for now I compared the collection with Slovenian bicuspices and yes, it is very similar. Is it really that simple with this crested frown.gif

I was surprised myself! Compared with all of them-nothing else is suitable!

I hope my book will arrive soon.
Yes, bicuspis is. There is nothing to guess, it is already up to DV bicuspis
Such a view of this. Far Eastern butterflies, for example, bicuspis were previously called infumata.
They don't look any different

For those who follow this topic, I would like to inform you that a number of corrections will be made to it. Some things have already been corrected on the previous page, and the rest will be corrected in the near future. (just a book on the crested Palaearctic appeared, so the work increased).
In short, it turns out that the corrections in the topic will be from the very beginning.
