What's so special about it?

Very similar in appearance to our reed shovels.

But even more interesting, in my opinion, is the previously depicted (in my opinion, URL#193) Phalera combusta, whose caterpillar feeds on bamboo, and the imago also resembles reed shovels. In general, the caterpillars of the Phalera genus feed on the leaves of a wide variety of plants. Among them there are both polyphages (P. bucephala) and monophages (P. assimilis, eats quercus). P. combusta surprises with its food addiction.

Again, the twin species.
The genus Netria Walker, 1855 was considered monotypic until recently and included the single species Netria viridescens Walker, 1855 (URL#105).
Recent studies (Schintlmeister, 2006) have shown that the area from the north-west of the Himalayas to Australia is home to not one, but at least 13 species that differ in color details. It should be noted that the individual variability of these tufts is also pronounced.

The following species is Netria multispinae Schintlmeister, 2006
China, Shaanxi.
At the top is a male.

Well, happy New year!
I open the year with the following snapshot.
A remarkable butterfly Zaranga citrinaria Gaede, 1930
China, Shenxi
Chinese species, a relative of the species presented in this topic Z. pannosa and our Z. tukuringra.
In the beginning, it was known from a single female and was considered a form of Z. pannosa. Zaranga citrinaria flies in late autumn and has a double in Japan-Z. permagna Butler, 1881 (about Z. permagna can be found in some detail on the website jpmoth.org)

Cool forum! Unfortunately, there are not enough European tufts, such as:
Peridea korbi (Rebel, 1918)
Paradrymonia vittata (Staudinger, 1892)
Rhegmatophila ricchelloi Hartig, 1939
Thaumetopoea wilkinsoni Tams, 1924
By the way, there are no marching silkworms at all. If anyone has any of the above, it would be great to post them (I'm trying to create a catalog of European crested women for myself, and there is very little information on these types of information, not to mention photos).

The subfamily Dudusinae Matsumura, 1929 includes the most bizarre crested whales. Its representatives are distributed in East Asia north to the Amur region. In our country, there are such species as Euchampsonia cristata, Euchampsonia splendida and the recently discovered Zaranga tukuringra.

Well, this is Tarsolepis remicauda Butler, 1872
China, Yunnan
is widely distributed in Southeast Asia - Southern China, Indochina and the islands of Indonesia. Males (as well as males of some other species of the genus Tarsolepis) have bright red tufts of androconial scales-hairs below.
