The bear? A dustpan?
No, it's the crested one!
The genus Baradesa Moore, 1883 (subfamily Ceirinae Matsunura, 1929) includes very similar large butterflies with an unusual appearance for the entire family. They are distributed in South and Southeast Asia.

Baradesa omissa Rothschild, 1917
China, Yunnan
The species is distributed in the Himalayas, Indochina and Southern China.

This morning, the crested bird Lophocosma sp.was bred. (either nigrilinea or intermedia) from Southern China!
A little later I will post a short photo essay on its development.

On May 17-18, the caterpillars were born. According to the literature (Izersky, Schintlmeister), caterpillars of the genus Lophocosma feed on hazel.
We started feeding them to her.

And the leaves are trimmed-are they stubs or is it specially made?

Yes, these are specially trimmed leaves - a kind of imitation of the litter.

The oligotypic genus Willemanus Nagano, 1916 includes only two known similar species. Both are distributed in East and Southeast Asia, and their ranges overlap.
The most widespread species is Willemanus bidentatus Wileman, 1911 - a significant part of China, Korea, and Japan. The edge of its range also comes to Primorye. The caterpillar feeds on cherries and plums.
The following copy is from Hunan, China

Netria viridescens Walker, 1855
Central Nepal,
top - male, Kathmandu Valley, April, 1996 leg A. Sochivko
bottom-female, Pokhara Valley, July, 2008 leg P. Morozov
Himalayan butterflies belong to the subspecies continentalis Schintlmeister, 2006
The species is widely distributed in Asia from the Himalayas to eastern China and south to the Greater Sunda Islands.
In July, I managed to get eggs from a female netria, just before I left. In Moscow, caterpillars appeared 8 days after laying eggs. From the "wide range" of various plants offered to them, they preferred poplar, which they willingly ate. However, before reaching the second age, the caterpillars all died down to one. Of course, there was a disorder to some extent, but I learned that in artificial conditions, netrians rarely survive even to the third age (V. Zolotukhin).
Well, at least there are photos of eggs and freshly hatched worms. smile.gif
