Here's a cool look I have wink.gif:
Zaranga tukuringra is a new species from a new genus for the fauna of Russia, whose representatives live in South and East Asia.

Oh, yes, this butterfly, in my opinion, still V. S. Murzin collected in the Zeysky reserve. Some experts didn't even believe him.

29.10.2007 12:58, Grigory Grigoryev

I think I even know this specialist. And V. S. Murzin had 3 million butterflies. One of them is now in my collection. {The year, if I'm not mistaken, is 1993}.
I made a mistake - the year is 1996 07 July.
So all this could have been done much earlier.
Regarding the new species, too, still need to think. They love to describe us (to the joy of something!!!) new views.

I saw those two men at Vladimir Sergeyevich's a year ago. As for the new species, I also strongly doubt it, since the same thing flies in the Himalayas.

And the territory adjacent to the south of the new species location is also, apparently, poorly studied.
The species is called Zaranga pannosa (Moore, 1884). I didn't find the image on the Internet. There are in the work of A. Schintlmeister Crested birds of China (APOLLO). True, only black and white.

Very interesting eek.gifBut, as I guess, the authors of the original description did not know about it. And yet, one of the authors of the description told me that this is a good species, very different in genitals from Z. pannosa (although similar in appearance) and the Japanese Z. permagna. I have no reason to distrust him. And the fact that the "nocturnal" fauna is poorly studied to the south of the point of this discovery is not entirely true. Our research is quite active! We would have found this zaranga long ago, but no! Most likely, this population in the Zeysky reserve is of a relict nature.

30.10.2007 9:46, Grigory Grigoryev

I was referring to the territory outside of Russia.
(And, by the way, one of the authors of the original description knew about those 3 butterflies - I told him myself)

In general, yesterday I spoke with A. N. Streltsov about Zaranga. Indeed, they knew about three Murzinsky copies from you. And one specialist (I won't say who), when they showed him the butterflies, said that it was a confusion with labels and there can't be such butterflies in Russia. And on this all stalled until 2006. So far, we haven't caught a good series in the same place. And Alexander Nikolaevich says that this is a good species, VERY different in genitals from all other species of zarang (they studied representatives of all species of this genus, including boiled genitals, according to the largest collection of Thomas Witt). And the fact that this is a new species, confirmed Schintlmeister. By the way, the same Schintlmeister once caught zaranga in Korea. He identified it as Z. pannosa, but did not digest the genitals. It is possible that this fact refers to the tukuringra, or maybe it is a new species, since the zarang populations are very local.
All doubting Sagittarius refers to the original description, which was published in" Eversmannia " in May of this year (issue 10, in my opinion).
So, here's what we learned from the original source...
