Cucullia scrophulariae
I hope to clarify Barko, there is a similar gozmani, what is different yet I do not know, the butterfly is a new species for the Kiev region, if correctly identified.

In the photo, Schargacucullia scrophulariae is most likely. Absolutely not lychnitis because of the very dark costa and fewer dots in the area of the stigmata. There are similarities with qozmanyi only in the shape of the wing, namely its apex, but it is impossible to confuse it, since qozmanyi is smaller in size and generally smaller. Hungarian scrophulariae and qozmanyi differ well in color.

the Cucullia fraterna caterpillar has already been laid out here. We found such a caterpillar in August 2007 at an altitude of about 1500 m (chr. Azish-Tau, Adygea). There is an opinion that this is also fraterna.
Is it even possible to distinguish it from lactucae by its caterpillar?
Comparing with the photo of laktuki from the net, it seems that it is slightly different, but it might as well be just a color form.
A photo of the forage plant is attached.
The butterfly could not be removed - the caterpillar was infected with parasites and withered in a few days.

And here is a young caterpillar Cucullia lucifuga. I always came across only caterpillars of the last age, black, with red spots. And I had to tinker with this one, until I found something similar in one atlas.

And here is her imago from the Moscow region:
Cucullia lucifuga Denis & Schiffermuller, 1775
The butterfly is significant in that it emerged from the pupa just half an hour before the onset of this year.
Many thanks to kotbegemot (y) and Barko for confirming the definition.
The caterpillar was found in September 2009. Here: M. O. Balashikha district, Zheleznodorozhny district.

In my opinion, Barko has already written somewhere
In a smart latest book on Cuculins in this group there are three butterflies
pustulata pustulata-I only have them, I have not met others in the center of Ukraine
pustulata fraterna - this is the east of Russia
lactucae-this is what was previously considered a fraterna, as I understood from this book.

Again, according to Barko. Here in Ukraine, the group lactucae included two species lactucae and fraterna. pustulata was described as a subspecies of lactucae. Later, this subspecies was referred to as fraterna. According to the latest smart book, These are the scoops of Eurasia by Ronkai Laszlo and Ronkai Gabor 2009, C. lactucae remains a good species with a nominative subspecies.
Everything that we considered fraterna now belongs to the subspecies pustulata pustulata, and the subspecies pustulata fraterna is the Far East and beyond.

Thank you all very much!
Now it is clear about the subspecies-types.
But with the caterpillar, the question remained.

Yesterday I found the butterfly Shargacucullia verbasci that came out of its pupa
Unfortunately, I missed the moment of exit and she managed to damage the tips of her wings.

The caterpillar was collected in Slovenia on 06.05.2009
picture: 001.jpg
pupated almost immediately (the ground for flowers from our office is very good for this smile.gif) November, December and half of January pupae were on the street.
