On the last photo among the fruits - probably selected castor oil for tourists wink.gif

alex017, so I think that by September, thanks to this topic, everything will be known about Vietnam, even if you don't want to go - you'll come out wherever you look - all the places you know are familiar smile.gif
But I would think about the height of the sun.. It's weird.

The trouble with such trips of such a plan is that they are tied to the gothel, I understand that there are probably some rules for tourists regarding freedom of movement. That is, if you just go by local transport at your own will, then the company no longer bears any responsibility for the consequences smile.gifNear the hotel it is necessary that the forest is some kind of nibut, then with the help of ZHPS and Google-fidget you can make a route and go there on foot.
And then everything can be lazy as in this quote

"Usually people go for the sea, the sun, sex, booze and pay for it (often without seeing the sea or the sun, waking up only on the way home on the plane)"

Only without many componentswink.gif, But the sun will be for sure!

06.12.2012 19:42, alex017

Mushrooms are not good for you! Stop using it immediately!
I've got cream, I've got a cowboy hat (what a moron I look under it!) and there is a habitability of the skin, the sun is not a problem.
What kind of responsibility do you mean for travel agencies? Do you think that if I died in Turkey this time, someone would answer?! Don't make me laugh.
About the forest, I understand perfectly well, but choosing a hotel in an area near the forest is extremely difficult, this is not our place, where this forest is just super-mega littered, right outside the windows literally begins.

In addition to what is listed in that phrase, I will definitely bring a bunch of plants, bring different sea beetles (and I would like corals ....). By the way, how are things with the sea in Tae? Where you can go, where you can't, is it really possible to find remote places for a quiet examination?

By the way, the surroundings of Alanya are almost like Perm, Mahmutlar has already become native, everything is normal there, familiar, as if I returned home. That's exactly the feeling. I myself was a little surprised to realize this.

Nothing stepped on anyone anywhere. There are differences, of course, but there are houses and shops on every corner....Especially in May, the weather there resembles our July. If you do not look at the sea and choose a place where there are no palm trees, then the differences are even more blurred.
Yes, and I meant not even the external similarity.....

11.12.2012 8:17, alex017

I don't really want to wait until September. In May, you can buy a trip only to Phuket.
How are things with nature there? Is food much more expensive?

Please dissuade me! The other day I'm going to buy a trip to Phuket in mid-May...

There will be a lot of people smile.gif- you are hardly alone in wanting to spend the May holidays on a tropical island smile.gif
Most of the insects are butterflies, the rest is-well, enough for a look - smile.gifat-the lanterns grasshoppers-cicadas will swoop anyway.

With nature, everything is normal there - to the extent that it happens on small tropical islands, well-developed by resort tourists smile.gif

I have no idea how it will be "with food" there; the locals eat all the same things all year round, and the prices do not differ very much. Pubs serving resort guests, essno, prices vary depending on the season, but I did not eat in those pubs.

12.12.2012 7:54, alex017

Well, here's my ticket! jump.gif jump.gif jump.gif
Отель BY THE SEA RESORT 3* (Phuket-Cape Panwa). Departure on May 14. Those who wish to join will be very welcome.
There is even vegetation in this place, so there must be some animals as well.

There is a lot of extra information about Thailand for tourists, but I didn't find any answers on this topic.
I do not want to mix topics, time is spent flipping through unnecessary information.

I will be in Tae from the end of January until spring. I wonder who you can catch there unusual, big and beautiful. Interested in Camponotus ants (where to get them, when years) and some large beetles, barbels can.

I am thinking about becoming a supplier of Asian insects, because I will be in Asia often and for a long time. Do you have any information about such a business?
I am primarily interested in breeding large beetles (such as rhinos) and ants.
Can I get permission to transport insects? In which countries is it easy and in which countries is it difficult? There were cases when entomologists were caught on the border with insects? What difficulties can there be with this business other than transportation? What is the revenue from a store that has at least 20 types of insects?

11.02.2013 18:59, Танав

AlisaInAsia, I will be in Southeast Asia for a year or more. You can catch a lot of interesting things there. It is not particularly strong in ants, but Camponotus gigas (it is difficult not to notice it) was met by me in the nat.Bencha Park in Krabi. There are local suppliers who work for the bourgeoisie. Do you want to transport live animals or dry land?

I have such a question. Has anyone traveled to Iran? Is it possible to catch insects there? How about the export process? And if there are no problems with fishing in Iran, which area of Iran is best suited for catching butterflies? And are there any problems with night fishing? Yes, and what months of the year are the most popular years?

I didn't go, but they say there are no special problems. However, in Israel or the United States after may not be allowed smile.gif

I went, but quite a long time ago - in the early noughties.
There are no problems - a peaceful, calm, lazy country, somewhat loose and not very mandatory.
There are some subtleties associated with Islam-in dress and behavior; they do not go beyond common sense and due respect for a foreign culture. There are nuances with obtaining a visa.
It is better not to go to the very east of Khorasan and Sihistan-to the areas bordering Afghanistan and Pakistan - everything is not easy there, without an escort there can be problems. Drug couriers (or, in any case, people whom the authorities consider drug couriers) are hung up in the field without frills, they caught a batch, drove a couple of cranes and went ahead. In the village fair mode, so to speak.
The material was taken out without any problems - in the usual order, in the luggage and flew. Butterflies, however, did not interest me, I caught reptiles, beetles, arachnids.

Well, it's almost time for departure.
However, what is it with the weather?!
______.jpg
Is this the rainy season? Is this how it should be? What to do with these rains?!
Rain and heat during the day and night imply huge humidity...just a bathhouse!
In general, in terms of insects, is this good or bad?

03.05.2013 22:18, Hierophis

Yes, I was lucky )))
It's not just rain, it's just a tropical hurricane ... lol.gif
Right by May 9, it gained strength, and by the way, the trajectories of such pieces are very unpredictable, now it seems to be heading for India, but it has not yet been born, the birth will begin on the 6th, and then the trajectory will be more or less.

As for me, this is generally cool, not like the usual heat ))

03.05.2013 22:47, Hierophis

alex017, well, the extreme time you chose to restwink.gif, I calculated the effective temperature for May 11, input data - Air temperature +34C, humidity 65%, the effective temperature in such conditions practically does not depend on the wind speed, and is approximately +70C !!! Tinplate!

04.05.2013 11:05, alex017

And I here is xs that you such considered...32-34 degrees - not so terrible...
I chose this time because it will be difficult for me to adapt to other times when I return.
If only you were lucky enough to catch something...

Hurricanes just weren't enough! Here's the eprst!

This post was edited by alex017 - 04.05.2013 11: 18

04.05.2013 19:10, Hierophis

The effective temperature is a conditional indicator that reflects the influence of humidity and wind in conjunction with the "normal" air temperature, 32-34 degrees is really not so terrible, in the shade and at humidity less than 50%, but if the humidity is 65-70%, and the temperature is +34C, then this is very harsh.

Well a hurricane like to the shore will not come smile.gif

04.05.2013 20:28, alex017

Wherever the hurricane goes, the waves will come right up to the shore.

Yes, and in the rainy season it should be cooler, like. And the closer summer is, the closer this season is, so the temperature may not be 34.

This post was edited by alex017 - 04.05.2013 20: 30

04.05.2013 21:45, Hierophis

Oh, that's so cool! I once saw such a sight on the Black Sea - absolute silence, and waves under three meters high roll to the shore! It all looked so cool, but then at night such a storm started! smile.gif

And the temperature on the coast is predicted to reach +36C during the day and +30C at night, regardless of whether it rains or not. Here in the center of the big "rod" to which this farting is adjacent )) there is a plot where the tick is approx. +22, there are some small mountains there, the humidity is low, so you need to tick there if there is no sauna at all wink.gif

And near the coast, the profiles are awesome, T+32C and dew point +29C, this is in general!! I have never seen such a thing, or rather, we certainly have humidity almost under 100%, but the profile is usually milder, T +25C Td +23C or something like that, and even then three times during the summer, and in the morning smile.gif

In Turkey, there is no hint of this, on the contrary, there is dry land, a profile like T +30 and So on -5 is not uncommon there, well, except that near the very coast of the Mediterranean Sea there is still some humidity, but it does not compare with Thailand.
So then you can tell me how it is, it's interesting)))

04.05.2013 21:47, alex017

I would like to go to the mountains with pleasure, there are tree ferns there. I want to bring this thing....antiquity))

04.05.2013 22:30, Hierophis

Well, right in Phuket there are some small mountains, Google writes that the height is about 300m, and there is a forest there, and everything is very close to that hotel. So... ))))

05.05.2013 20:48, alex017

I'll try to find my way there...

Today I started to put the equipment in a suitcase, there is very little space left, that's the problem...
The 16.8 V power supply for one Chinese charger (black unit with voltage switching) does not have time to come! This is very offensive. I bought it for nothing.

10.05.2013 17:59, alex017

Notches on the balcony do not fly to the light (a little and a trifle), there are no necessary ferns on the slides. I haven't found any fishing spots in the forest yet.

13.05.2013 11:38, alex017

Here's what a miracle of nature I caught. The female. Where can I find more of them?....

Pseudophyllinae gen. sp. I think the wings are shortened? They can fly into the light, full-winged, of course. The main method of collecting them is at night with a lantern in the forest. They sit on vegetation.

The wings seem to be long under the elytra.
What do they eat? Predators?
I'm going to catch the light tomorrow. With a lantern in the woods.... Noooo, they're sitting high up in the trees, I guess it's their screeching all over the place.
We have a forest on a mountain here. The mountain is steep, and where it is flat - people live.

13.05.2013 17:49, Decticus

What do they eat? Predators?

Probably omnivores.

13.05.2013 18:01, Zlopastnyi Brandashmyg

Pseudophyllins are herbivores. In any case, this is true for species that have at least something about biology is known. For most, nothing is known.

13.05.2013 18:36, Zlopastnyi Brandashmyg

All the most interesting things, not only insects, but animals in general, come out at night. During the day, you will see little or nothing. Fishing for light - you need to get to the right place at the right time. In all my trips, I've only seen a couple of decent years.

If you still decide to take a night outing. First, a reconnaissance mission is necessary. You walk around the neighborhood at night, don't you? Find a path leading to the forest or into the forest. For a start, an old plantation, especially if it is adjacent to any trees, is also suitable. Pay attention to steep slopes or riverbeds - along them there are often stubs of normal vegetation, even in cultivated areas. Thais, as well as Vietnamese, Khmer, are usually very loyal to the passage through "their own land", this is not the Europeans with their "sacred private property". It is quite possible to walk on someone's plantation. don't forget to say "hello" and smile broadly. If you have any questions, point to the camera - "photo, animal, forest" and smile.

Carefully work out the route, pay attention to the forks of the paths. You won't get lost and die of hunger and thirst (thank God!), but getting lost before sunrise in Thai vegetable gardens is also a lower-than-average pleasure. To get started, just follow the path along the edge of the forest at dusk.

You need to go slowly, illuminating the path and everything around you with a flashlight. Take your time, look at where you put your foot and what you hit with your head or hands. Watch out for weeds where you can't see what you're doing or where you're going. Don't worry too much, seeing a snake in the forest is a rare piece of luck! Most likely, you won't see any of them. But you need to remember this, kufiyas sit in trees, kraits are usually found near the water.

From the equipment, you need at least 2 lanterns. I take 3 lanterns when I'm alone. Being left without light in the forest is really dangerous, the problem is not in tigers, elephants or cobras, but in the fact that it is easy to fall and get seriously injured.

Good luck!

13.05.2013 18:47, alex017

Yes, I gave her a piece of mango and chewed it. And shat.
Should I give her a drink?

13.05.2013 18:53, Zlopastnyi Brandashmyg

In juicy fruits, water should be enough. You can spray it on the walls of the cage, probably.

Even along the edge of the high road at dusk, you can see a lot of interesting things.

These are cicadas screech

15.05.2013 6:13, alex017

Nothing particularly valuable or interesting came out of the night hike. I found a place on the path, put a "grid" between the trees, turned on the light. Midges, moths, small beetles no larger than a May beetle flew, frogs ran from all over the forest to the feast, 2 small praying mantises flew, a centipede crawled, a beetle prowled in the foliage. Something flying with a thin body like a dragonfly and long legs was seen, the total length is about 10-15cm.
I caught it from about 20 to 24 hours. The uv lumen was flying fast. 10W sd is better. Directed both up and in different directions.
It's awfully stuffy in the woods. Just a nightmare!
The roads here are all asphalt, and I didn't find any roads that are narrow or sufficiently heavy. I didn't find anything along the paved road. I'll post a photo after my arrival.

24.05.2013 21:04, Hierophis

alex017, awww! smile.gif Or all, already on permanent residence in Thailand, the hassle of housewarming, nekada write about how cool it is there? wink.gif

24.05.2013 21:06, alex017

Hi! Don't get your hopes up, I'm preparing a report. Nothing really cool. One disappointment. I still sorted everything out, planted and put everything in order at home, sorted the photos a little, now we need to take on the tekt part....

25.05.2013 20:55, alex017

From the very beginning, everything went wrong.
A few hours before departure, the travel agency gave me insurance, vouchers and tickets. When I looked at the documents....it turns out that the direct flight was replaced by a flight with a transfer and a loss of 3 days in Bangkok.
All plans for the trip were crossed out, because insects are still not the main goal, the main goal was corals and other marine life. The manager anticipated my reaction and therefore did not inform me in advance, otherwise I would have refused to go. She was definitely aware even when the start date was moved from May 14 to May 8. But then I had the right to refuse and 100% refund the amount, because the date change was at the request of the operator.
At the Perm airport, the batteries were mistaken for ammunition, and the handle of a net and a flashlight for weapons. I had to unpack my luggage and prove that this is not a weapon, it is clear that the inspector had never seen 18650 lithium batteries in her life and she was ready to try them on the tooth. I called the older one, who obviously tore her ass off from a very comfortable chair, was dissatisfied, shouted at the inspector that she was shown luggage, what other questions could there be, there are no forbidden things. She didn't look at the contents.
The airport lounge turned out to be smaller than the cabin of a Boeing 767, which led to a crush, stuffy waiting for a couple of hours, and the flight was slightly delayed into the bargain.
When flying from Bangkok by a local airline to Phuket and back, when flying from Bangkok to Perm, there were no problems with the batteries.
Somehow I made it to Phuket. As usual, I spent the first day in Bangkok, then the first day in Phuket I slept almost completely, the third day was not much different from the second: I barely woke up by 15h, while it gets dark there at 19h.
Corals were present. The condition and colors are of course very poor. The reef is ditched by sewage from hotels and villas.
The following photos show all the coral species that live in the coastal zone, with the exception of maybe 2 species that I didn't find at first, and when I found them, there was nothing to take a picture of, and later there were no such large tides.

Of course, I caught the corals and tried to take them out, but after a long stay without water during the flight from Bangkok to Phuket, they became very "snotty", the water turned cloudy, smelled unpleasant, the corals additionally finished themselves off with their mucus. Although I took 1.2 liters of sea water, it was not enough to make full-fledged substitutions. More precisely , I didn't have enough equipment, such as a UV sterilizer and charcoal, which would probably have significantly improved the situation, but I already had a lot of equipment with me.
Under normal substitutions, the skimmer and filter with sintepon were constantly turned on when I was still on Pheket, the corals even turned better than they were when I broke them off.
No one lived to see the house.
Freshwater hermits were discovered in a stream

I tried to catch insects from the balcony, but nothing really flew.
Then I tried fishing in the woods. It flew very sluggishly.
The equipment failed a little, the USB connectors turned out to be of poor quality, the contact was bad, barely caught.
UV-A compact is practically useless, it flew on 10W sd.
I tried different positions: sd+cfl, cd in one direction, cd in the other, only sd and only cfl. It was as if the sun didn't shine at all!! It just wasn't flying at him. When moving the sd to the other side, the insects moved to the other side of the screen, where no one flew.
Most of the photos did not come out, because in the dark I shot for the first time.

As it was...
P5144273_1.jpg
These creatures swarmed in heaps, gradually they were strewn all over the ground around the screen.

There were no problems with food, the menu is in Russian in the restaurant near the hotel and in the cafe on the beach.
Ate about 160r.
I took a lot of pills: ciprofloxacin, biseptol, azithromycin, activated charcoal, citramon. I brought almost everything back, except for lariam, which I ate for prevention.
Mosquitoes did not eat me even without any means, while others were very crunchy. More precisely, not mosquitoes, but some other animals, such as moths.
Once I ran into a jellyfish, Jumped out of the water like a bullet. There was no burn. Again, others had the same ones. Many people were also allergic to polychaete hairs( fireworms from the reef), literally their feet were covered in blisters, so people were afraid to swim. I don't give a damn. I think that my aquarium helped me here, I was already used to these needles.

If you look at this holiday from the side of an ordinary tourist, then there is nothing to complain about, the operator and the Thais worked very well. Hotel - in general, it's hard to even come up with any complaints: safe deposit box, bicycles, boat, bus to the city center, laundry-free, prices in the bar were not much different from the store prices (although I compared them just for fun).
The view from the room is simply wonderful!
P5103919_1.jpg
Around the mountain, vegetation is attached to almost sheer cliffs!
There is a forest all around, but you can't climb a steep cliff, and on the gentle slopes there are homo sapiens ' dwellings.
P5103965_1.jpg
P5174418_1.jpg
The beach is a bit dirty in the opinion of some, but for me it's great: fine silicate sand, although it makes the water cloudy, but not so strong.
And most importantly-there are few people, or rather simply no them.
P5174420_1.jpg
The vegetation is poor. I mean, bringing something exotic with you is problematic, it just doesn't exist.
