Does it happen that a larva remains a larva without turning into a butterfly? I definitely don't have any winged ones....

13.06.2006 17:19, Helene

If the larva does not turn into anyone, it means that it is not a larva, but an adult organism wink.gif
Your pest is not necessarily a butterfly. It can be a skin-eating beetle: an adult insect - a small brown beetle, traces of larval activity - drill flour (powder) and skins left after molting. But both can easily be blown away. But live larvae in the damaged thing should be, although they are trying to hide. They are brown, small (up to a centimeter), worm-shaped (elongated), narrowed to the posterior end.

13.06.2006 17:22, Guest

Do nasty leatherheads eat everything? Can they spoil the cotton? It's not just my fur that's messed up.

13.06.2006 17:30, Helene

Actually, rather than guessing , it's better to find the larvae and scan them. Search carefully.
By the way, if you did not specify that everything happens at home, there would be reason to doubt that things are spoiled by pests. Cotton, for example, is damaged by acids , including steam. I remember that in the 80-ies in the Soviet laboratory we washed test tubes with sulfuric acid, and also bottled other acids (solyanka, nitric acid...) from larger containers to smaller ones. It seems that they did not spill on themselves, but cotton dressing gowns quickly became covered with holes.
But people don't seem to bathe in chemicals at home?

13.06.2006 21:46, Bad Den

Here's a joke.the whole story skipped by, about the moth. So there is a hotbed in the dust collector of the vacuum cleaner foundsmile.gif, check it too.

14.06.2006 7:42, Dmitry Vlasov

What size holes are there? MB: it's not about insects, it's about mice???
In general, kozheeds usually do not make holes, their larvae eat wool from above. And they do not favor velour - more feathers, furs (they prefer unpainted ones).

14.06.2006 12:05, Guest

Yes, these are rather not holes, something similar to scratches. The feeling that a claw or proboscis was used. Even on the new bedclothes there are traces - the top layer of fabric seems to be scratched. But the velour is specifically eaten... I was looking for insects yesterday - I don't see them! But flour or some fine sand-yes, there is.

14.06.2006 13:02, Ольон

Since I don't see any pests, I'll just share a photo of their active actions. Who ate my chair? weep.gif

Has anyone seen what termite damage looks like?

By the way, is there a cat at home?

14.06.2006 14:46, Ольон

The thing is, there's no cat or dog... Only these unknown ones...

14.06.2006 15:03, Helene

And where is it happening (in which country)?

14.06.2006 15:16, Ольон

The case takes place in Moscow. I don't know who or what to think anymore... Suddenly this vapor is corrosive...

14.06.2006 15:27, Helene

Evaporation of what? Is there anything to evaporate?

14.06.2006 16:00, Ольон

no, there are no cones, no solvents. Maybe the walls are all wrong...

14.06.2006 16:12, Helene

no, there are no cones, no solvents. Maybe the walls are all wrong...

No, because of the usual household impurities, this can not be. Moreover, there seems to be drilling flour.
Termites (no matter what their nibbles look like) have nowhere to go in Moscow.
By the way, another question (tactless): and how often is the room ventilated, all this stuff is cleaned (vacuumed)? Just some mad bark beetle: open surfaces (furniture) eats eek.gif

14.06.2006 16:18, Ольон

It is generally cleaned once a week, and ventilated every day... But sometimes I sit very close to my unfortunate friend's chair and it seems that the nibbles appear right in front of my eyes... But flour-yes, a lot. I used to think it was just dust, so I started looking at it - no, small grains.

Mdya, this is a horror, already some kind of eek.gif eek.gif eek.gif
No kidding... Mad Bark Beetle frown.gif
I do not know such a pest that eats at such a speed and is not afraid of regular cleaning. They usually don't like being disturbed too much...
Elizar, maybe there is a version?

14.06.2006 16:29, Ольон

As competent people, I also want to ask. Is there such an analysis, a study that can identify the type of pest that affects things? Are there any similar laboratories or specialists? The SES shrugs it off, they say we only study lice and fleas...

14.06.2006 16:42, Helene

Most likely, you applied (to this forum) just at the address: Only lice and fleas (well, even with bedbugs and cockroaches) are really familiar to SES students. Only here for the "analysis" all the same, the insects themselves are needed... You can hardly tell anything definite from the gryzs of the vrd.

I started to remember and thought, when I was painfully looking for them, I came across strange dark gray dots, tiny. I tried to see it in the light, but I couldn't tell if it was motes of dust or beetles. Because they're so tiny. But what was visible was the thinning 2 antennae. I decided for myself that it was from the threads that the remnants or pellets were lost... I crushed this something, but it did not choke like a true bug - without a characteristic sound smile.gif

Look for more! If you find it, collect it in a jar. If you are a Muscovite, then you don't need to scan it: we'll call you, I'll send it to the pet museum, and they'll determine it there.

14.06.2006 16:59, Ольон

Thank you very much!!!! You are the first to hear about my "nibblers" smile.gifand they are really monsters!

Well, then-we are waiting - with smile.gifCatch nibblers.

14.06.2006 17:36, Helene

Yes, here's another tip: look for adult insects on the windows: on the windowsill and between the frames. If there's anything lying around, collect it. Adults (adults) are much easier to identify than larvae.

15.06.2006 7:54, Dmitry Vlasov

2Helene
Versions no!!! As far as I can judge from the photo - the upholstery of the chair is synthetic.
If it was moldy, there might be some lurking beetles.
So go ahead and help Olhon find her enemies! I wouldn't mind it myself, but I live a little far from Moscow.
2ollion
And kreslice then where? If because of the" hillock", and even some" gishpansky", our merchants could also bring termites...

15.06.2006 10:11, Ольон

I had a major shake-up of all the wardrobes with winter and warm clothes yesterday - not a single maggot crawled out. I filled everything with the thousandth bottle of Antimoli.... I can't identify the dark dots found on the towel - what if they're just specks of dust? I'll buy a magnifying glass today. And the chair, however, still continues to devour frown.gif(((

15.06.2006 10:34, Bad Den

Ollion, put them in some kind of test tube or glass bottle with a lid that closes, or plug them with a tightly rolled cotton plug.
A chair made by someone?

15.06.2006 10:41, Ольон

Ordinary, near Moscow, probably. A typical soft corner. By the way, the monsters did not appear in this apartment. In the fall, we rented an apartment-a nice, clean one, and it was impossible to imagine any horrors. The fact that there are creatures, I guessed from soft toys-they were literally gnawed. Even the paths were visible, as if someone was crawling and gnawing. All the toys were thrown away and moved to another apartment in horror. But!!! The pests moved in next!!! Called disinsection, everything was sprayed on me, however...

15.06.2006 10:48, Dmitry Vlasov

Maybe it's "barabashki" or moth-ghosts?
Moscow entomologists-urgently study the" bad " apartment! Maybe the article materialchik pull!

15.06.2006 11:50, RippeR

In my opinion, this is still kozheedy or something close - there are 1 or more species, brown, small-1-2 mm in length, they have long thin antennae, yesterday I found this at a friend, I found it many times at the institute and at home a couple of times, I think it's them..

15.06.2006 11:57, Ольон

Can they be almost invisible because of their size? And the antennae of my "fuzz-eaters" are there. That's why I'm afraid to confuse them with the usual spooles

15.06.2006 13:17, Bad Den

Can you take photos of them?

15.06.2006 13:20, Dmitry Vlasov

2RippeR
Kozheedy rounded and not less than 2 mm in size, and 1mm-appeared. Brown-this is almost certainly a Smirnov's leatherworm, but they are 2-4 mm. unless in Moldova they were crushed from starvation...

15.06.2006 13:35, Helene

So go ahead and help Olhon find her enemies!

And what is an idea!

23.06.2006 16:25, Pola001

Not really... I'm a sensitive person.. so PLEASEmol.gif :

How to deal with them?!!

23.06.2006 17:30, Helene

It turned out an important detail: Olon rents an apartment (first one, then moved with the nibblers to another). So, in principle, exotic creatures are not excluded. You never know who could live with vta in an apartment until Olhon - it can be a drift from anywhere.
It was not possible to collect the critters, but there are the nibbles themselves. Really eats everything, up to absolutely inedible (nylon curtain).
Could they really be termites? eek.gif Or what else can it be-if not limited to the local synanthropic fauna?

23.06.2006 17:49, sealor

Helene
And what is the humidity in the apartment? Maybe look at the material with nibbles under magnification and the animals will be from small arthropods, like some kind of "down mites"?
Termites are unlikely, they are social insects, quite large and numerous, so noticeable. But the nylon suspension is already a hint of organosilicon life that feeds on modern textile polymerssmile.gif, maybe some of the damage does not apply to the current process?

23.06.2006 17:54, Helene

Helene

Yes, here is something like ticks Olyon saw ("pellets with antennae", at the meeting it turned out that they are also very sedentary and are able to hold on tightly to the surface - you will not blow away). But not the fact that it is they who eat. And can downy mites eat nylon?
As for the freshness of the nibbles, Olion is very scared of what is happening and conducts such monitoring there that God forbid... wink.gif

23.06.2006 18:21, sealor

Or maybe the curtain is not nylon? Maybe half cotton. Then, as I understood, it was not possible to visit the site, there is no material as such, how to determine...

24.06.2006 0:53, Tigran Oganesov

M-yes, as far as I know, it is termites that can gnaw everything, but like sealor, I think that they are not difficult to notice. This is a strange situation.
